Flowering Column

Hi and welcome! Another card made during my long weekend! This time for the Altenew Inspiration Challenge.  I had to pull out my new-favourite flower dies again and make this card.

After die-cutting everything from white, I did some ink-blending in the challenge colours before arranging in a vertical arrangement.  Onto a white card base, I added a panel of Morning Frost cardstock backed by a thin strip of rose gold matte foil (to bring in another element from the photo).

I adhered all the elements down and then stamped the greeting, finally finishing with some enamel dots.

Thanks for visiting!

Dainty Rings

Hi!  Despite my intentions of cranking out heaps of cards while I was off work over the holiday period, I have actually not spent a lot of time in my craft room as I de-stress from the year that was.  But this morning I wanted to make a card for the Altenew Year in Review challenge and came up with this card using the March challenge photo.

I have so many Altenew floral sets that I didn't know where to start but as I was flipping through them, I came across this Dainty Bouquet set and thought it would work well with the colours.  To give the card a bit of added interest, I hot foiled the dainty rings onto the background, overlapping three of the rings.  I stacked the floral image with three other die-cut white layers for depth and added a gold-embossed sentiment.

I mounted the panel onto a light gray card base and finished with some enamel dots from the Pocketful of Sunshine set.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Leafy Wishes

Hi!  Here I am for the second time today!  I have been wanting to make a card for the Altenew Year in Review challenge and in doing so, I also created a card for Time Out Challenge, who are looking for "New".  The dies and stamps on this card are all brand new - arrived earlier this week - and this is their first outing.

I have wanted this leaf die set since it was released and finally got it!  I also got the new sentiment stamp set and this is the first time I've used the Fine Frames cover die - even though I've had it since it was released.

I chose cardstock colours that most closely matched the August 2021 inspiration photo and did some die-cutting.  I then put the elements together, offsetting the top layer slightly to add a touch of whimsy.

I did some stamp surgery on the sentiment as it had the word "sweet" in it and I didn't want that for this particular card.

The card was looking a bit bare so I went hunting through my dies and die-cut a frame out of black cardstock and adhered it with liquid glue.  I finished with some matching enamel dots.

Thanks for visiting.

Products used:

Stamps:  Sentiment Strips (Altenew)
Ink:  Obsidian (Altenew)
Cardstock:  White, Black, Bubblegum (MFT), Guava (Lawn Fawn), Paradise (Hero Arts)
Dies:  Leaf Mix, Fine Frames Cover (Altenew)
Accessories:  Cherry Blossom, Red Cosmos, Sea Shore Enamel Dots (Altenew)

Pink Flowers

Hi!  I'm back with another card for a few challenges.  This card is for the Altenew challenge, Krafty Chicks ATG challenge, Addicted to CAS who have Emboss as their code word and Happy Little Stampers January Watercolour Challenge.

I don't watercolour very often but had the urge to do something a bit looser than Copic colouring and so pulled out my Zig markers to colour up this gorgeous Altenew stamp.  Once I was finished, I fussy-cut the image and set it aside to work on the card base.

Firstly I splattered Aged Mahogany and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks onto a white card base using Perfect Pearls spray to dilute the inks.  When the ink was dry, I ran it through my die-cutting machine with the Subtle embossing folder.

I was totally inspired by the graphic in the Altenew challenge to add stripes to my card.  To most closely match what I saw as the darkest colour, I used the Direct to Paper technique to add Aged Mahogany oxide ink onto a strip of Bristol Smooth paper.  Once it was dry, I die-cut it, along with some Cotton Candy, Razzle Berry and Black cardstock with the Slim Stripes dies by Pink Fresh.  I used Rose Gold embossing powder on the Razzle Berry strip and embossed the words Thank You.  I then adhered all the strips onto the card base and finished with the flower, which is popped up on foam tape.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Strength Butterfly

Hi and welcome to another challenge from the Freshly Made Sketches team.  Our hostess this week is Linda Callahan and here is her sketch:

And here is my card using Linda's sketch.

This was not the card I had in mind when I sat down to create but this is how it ended up.  I didn't make it for anyone, but in looking at it, I think maybe I made it for me.  Losing my son has brought me to my knees and I'm struggling to get back up.  I haven't made any Christmas cards and I won't be sending any this year.  I have no desire to celebrate Christmas.  Matthew's birthday is one week before Christmas and I'm already dreading December.

I used my favourite background stamp to white emboss onto a panel and then sponge with Fog ink.  I also splattered some Fog ink onto the panel.  Onto the background I used Fog ink to stamp multiple butterflies.  The orange butterfly is popped up on foam tape.

Thanks for visiting.  Please check out the wonderful cards made by the rest of the design team.

Products used:

Stamps:  Papillon (Tim Holtz), Essential Sentiments (MFT), Dream Big (Altenew)
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black, Sunkissed, Orange Cream (Altenew), Fog (SSS)
Cardstock:  White, Black
Dies:  Inside/Out Stitched Squares (MFT)

Flowery Thanks

Hi and welcome to Freshly Made Sketch Challenge day, where our hostess this week is Jen Brum.  And here is her sketch.

I went with a flowery card this week and came up with this design.

The flowers were stamped and die-cut and then put to one side while I worked on the card base.  A grout gray square base was cut to 4 1/2" square and a white panel was die-cut with a mod square stax die.  I arranged the flowers inside each cutout and then stamped the sentiment before adhering to the card base with foam tape.

Thanks for visiting.  The DT have some gorgeous cards so I hope you'll check them out.

Products used:

Stamps:  Budding Thanks (Altenew)
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades Citrus Burst, Fresh Lemon, Maple Yellow (Altenew)
Cardstock:  White, Grout Gray (MFT)
Dies:  Budding Thanks (Altenew) Mod Square Stax (MFT)
Accessories:  Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen

Butterfly Hello

It's time for another challenge from the Fusion team and this time we have a gorgeous butterfly inspiration for you.  Of course, if butterflies aren't your thing, there's plenty else to inspire!  Butterflies aren't really my thing, but I decided to go that route and came up with this fusion.

I've had this Painted Butterflies set since it was first released and I've hardly ever used it!  I decided to pull it out for today's card because there is a range of different sized butterflies which would work well for the card I had in mind.  I stamped the butterflies in oranges and aquas with the aqua ones stamped directly to the card base and the orange one stamped on a scrap then fussy-cut.

I adhered a strip of woodgrain patterned paper to mimic the door in the photo and then stamped my sentiment before adhering the large butterfly with foam tape.

And that's it!  Pretty simple!

Thanks for visiting.  The design team have some gorgeous cards so I hope you'll head over and check them out.

Products used:

Stamps:  Painted Butterflies (Altenew)
Ink:  Jet Black, Dew Drops, Aqualicious, Sunray, Chamomile (Altenew)

Circular Birthday

Hi!  I'm here with a card using the latest sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our hostess is Jen Brum and I love her sketch!

The only thing I changed in the sketch was moving the circular element from the right hand side to the left - and that was because that's the way my edge die worked.

I used Platinum Embossing Powder and the Leaf Canopy set to cover a panel of After Midnight cardstock.  Once it was all embossed, I went back in with the solid leaf image and Versamark ink for a watermark effect.  I adhered the panel to a white top-folding card base and then die-cut another white panel for the angled piece.

The sentiment was also embossed using Platinum Embossing Powder and then die-cut with a circle die.  It and the white panel were popped up on foam tape.

And that's it!  Pretty simple!  Thanks for visiting.  The DT have some gorgeous cards so I hope you'll check them out.

I'm linking this up to a couple of challenges:  Addicted to CAS have a contrast challenge and Seize the Birthday have a texture challenge.

Ink:  Versamark

Purple Mother's Day Posy

Hi and welcome!  It's time for another fun challenge from the team at Just Us Girls and this week we have a color challenge:

I decided to make a Mother's Day card with a purple card base - it's not often I have a non-white card base😄

I stamped some flowers in purple shades and added in one pink flower for interest.  I arranged the flowers with the help of some Press n Seal and set the bouquet to one side while I worked on the rest of the card.  Onto a Boysenberry card base I added a white stitched rectangle frame which was popped up on foam tape.  I then added the bouquet and a white-embossed Mother's Day sentiment.  It was at this point I thought the card base looked too bland so I grabbed my new favorite accessory - Distress Resist Spray and, using a piece of scrap paper to protect the frame, flowers and sentiment, I spritzed the spray over the purple.

I was much happier after doing this, although it was rather hair-raising at the time because it could have completely botched an already finished card 😄  Some black Nuvo drops and I called it done!

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you can carve out some time to make a prominently purple card and add it to the gallery!  In the meantime, head on over and check out the gorgeous cards made by the DT.

I'm linking this card up to the current Altenew challenge as well as Work It Wednesday who are looking for cards honoring mums.

Products used:

Stamps:  Painted Flowers (Altenew), KIS:  Mother's Day (PTI)
Ink:  Versamark, Minty Mint, Sweet Leaf, Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Deep Iris, Pink Diamond Pinkalicious (Altenew)
Cardstock:  White, Black, Boysenberry (MFT)
Dies:  Pierced Rectangle Stax, Slanted Sentiment Strips (MFT), Painted Flowers (Altenew)

Best Wishes

Hi and welcome to my blog!  Today's card is for the new challenge at Inspired By All The Little Things, where I'm the hostess this week.  Here's the photo I chose as inspiration:

I really liked the white-on-white text and the pretty flowers in diagonal corners so that's the direction I took with my card.

I was inspired by Therese Calvird who used these alpha dies with craft foam on a card, so went in the same direction.  After die-cutting in craft foam and white cardstock, I adhered the two together and set it aside while I worked on my card base.  I wanted to play along with the White-on-White Focal Point Altenew challenge, so I chose inks matching the challenge colors and starting stamping and masking with Vintage Roses stamp set.  I wanted to add some leaves but didn't want to add green, so I used a gray ink and I really like how it turned out.

Once I'd finished stamping I die-cut the panel with a pierced frame die but didn't discard the outer edge, instead popping it onto the card base in an inlaid die-cut.  Then I realised I wanted some camouflaged die-cutting over the flowers, so I positioned my letters and then re-cut the letters that needed it from the card base.  I adhered the die-cut letters on top of the already-cut letters and you'd never know there are two layers of cardstock on some of them!

Finally, I finished the card with some clear sequins.

Thanks so much for visiting.  The design team have some marvellous cards and be sure to check out my special guest, Jen Wills, who creates the most fabulous CAS cards.
