Snowpals

Edited to Add:  This card has been added to Ksenija's Chasing Holiday Mojo event.

Hi and welcome to a new sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is the very-talented Rita Wright.

And here is my card.  The observant among you will notice it's missing an element of the sketch...

Yep, don't do what I did!  I had every intention of using a polaroid die for the centre element in the sketch, but my polaroid dies were all too small, so I put it aside and kept on creating - completely forgetting it was a key part of the sketch.  Doh!  If I want to fool myself, I can say the stitched lines both inside and outside the rectangular panel would work for the extra rectangle.  Does that sound convincing? 😄

Anyway, I used the snow drifts for the horizontal panel and painted the edges with a snow marker after lightly sponging some Salty Ocea ink onto the edges.  I then heat-set the snow marker so it fluffed up a bit.  The images were stamped, colored and die-cut and the background was stenciled over after being ink-blended with Distress Oxide inks.

So despite missing a layer on the sketch, I think this turned out okay - those little snowmen are adorable - they are part of a Stamptember set designed by Gina K Designs.

Thanks for visiting!  Head on over and check out the rest of the design team's work - it's fabulous as always.

I'm linking this up to The Merry Christmas Challenge, Addicted to Stamps and More and Muse:  Christmas Visions where I was inspired by the blue background, falling snow and little pops of color.

Christmas Mug

Hi and welcome!  Today's card was made using the sketch at Mojo Monday, the inspiration pic at Merry Monday, the sparkle theme at Merry Christmas challenge  and the tag inspiration at Tag You're It.

I was inspired by Lynn's color scheme, the mug, the heart and snowflake and the white sentiment banner.  I just got some new supplies in the other day, and one of them was the Knitted Pattern embossing folder, so I used that on the cream base layer, the chocolate horizontal layer and the red tag.  The mug was die-cut and colored with Copics to match the mug in the Merry Monday inspiration photo.  I die-cut a white snowflake and embossed it with glitter embossing powder and the heart was colored with Star Dust Stickles to give it a bit of glitter as well.

Thanks for visiting!

Another Christmas Card

Welcome to another amazing sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our hostess is the wonderful Kim Singdahlsen and she has come up with a great sketch for us.
I made another Christmas card - yes, I'm heartily sick of them, but I just got this poinsettia ribbon die and wanted to use it before putting it away for months.

I cut the die from Cherry Cobbler and Basic Gray cardstock and adhered it to a white panel, offsetting it to the right slightly.  I then die-cut the Joy word and adhered that over top.  A strip of gold foil down the right hand side and a gold-embossed sentiment to match and I was good to go!

The final touch was some clear sparkle pen on the flower and "joy" word.

Thanks for visiting!  The Design Team have used this sketch to make some gorgeous creations, so I hope you check them out.

I'm linking this to the HLS Christmas Challenge, the HLS Anything Goes with Dies Challenge and the Merry Christmas Challenge, who are looking for Clean & Simple.

Toy Story

Hi and welcome!  I made today's card as part of my NBUS mission!  This set was a must-have a month or so ago, but it has sat unused and I wanted to use it before I took a break from making Christmas cards.  I thought my card would work well for the Baby's First Christmas theme at The Merry Christmas Challenge and I'm also linking to the Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

Without knowing what I was going to make, I stamped and colored all the images in this adorable set. I then set about my layout and come up with this CAS card.

I stamped the sentiment along the bottom to ground the wagon and left a lot of white space.    The spinning top is popped up on foam tape.  The card base was dry-embossed using two nesting triangles, which is hard to see in the photo.

Thanks for visiting!

Silver Snowflakes

Hi and welcome!  Today's card is another Christmas card for the very small stash!  I used the sketch from MFT, the tic-tac-toe from Paper Players (washi, snowflakes, die-cuts), the Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp and the Anything Christmas Goes challenge at a new-to-me challenge called The Merry Christmas challenge.  And what is fantastic about this challenge is that they post the upcoming challenge schedule, which is perfect for me as I pretty much only have the weekends to stamp and miss so many challenges because I just can't get cards made in time.

I embossed the snowflakes and snow with Liquid Platinum EP onto a piece of Specialty Stamping Paper then sponged various distress inks over the panel.  For the top layer, I took a piece of Tropical Teal cardstock and die-cut the oval from the center, before sponging over the whole panel with Tropical Teal ink to darken and give a suede look. I splattered on some water and some shimmer mist.  I also die-cut an oval from some black cardstock and layered that underneath, offsetting it slightly.  The sentiment is embossed in the same EP and finally I adhered a strip of washi down the right hand side as per the sketch.

Thanks for visiting.
