Lavish Lilies

Hi!  I'm back with another card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge where this week our hostess is Jen Mitchell.  I thought it was about time I did some Copic colouring so chose a MFT Colour Challenge and one of their red rubber floral images (since retired, I think) to come up with this card.

Trying to match Ripe Raspberry with Copic markers was a bit of a challenge and I think I went a bit bright, but it was the closest match I could get.  I didn't spend too long to colour this as I'm impatient, and once it was done I used my Scan N Cut to cut it out.

Onto a white card base I added a panel of Eiffel Tower cardstock that I had run through with a Window Slats 3D embossing folder and then added a scalloped strip cut from Ripe Raspberry cardstock.

I finished with a white-embossed sentiment.

Thanks for visiting.  Please check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Hippo Birthday

Hi!  For the first time in what seems like forever, I had time to make a card just for the fun of it and to enter in a few challenges!  I started with the sketch from MFT, then chose the colours based on the Color Throwdown challenge.  From there, I went with the CAS challenge at Krafty Chicks.

Because it was a MFT sketch, I went through my MFT stamps and found this NBUS set so I decided on the hippos because I could use gray for the CTD challenge.  After colouring the image I cut it out and then made a Polaroid frame using a square and rectangle die.

I stamped the sentiment and adhered it all together, using foam tape to adhere it to a Fog cardbase.

As per the sketch I found some little clay hearts and coloured one of the white ones with a Copic marker and then adhered them all with liquid glue.

Thanks so much for visiting!

To The Birthday Chick

Hi!  I'm here with a card for the current sketch challenge at MFT Stamps.  I'm also playing along with the Anything Goes theme at Krafty Chicks and the AAA Birthday Challenge.

When I saw the sketch, I thought of the adorable Birdie Brown set "Birthday Chicks".  I stamped, coloured and die-cut some of the images, matching colours with the strip of patterned paper I'd chosen for the left hand panel.  I added white gel pen details to the birthday hats and black gel pen to the chicks' eyes.  The sentiment was white-embossed onto some Summer Splash cardstock and die-cut with a slanted sentiment strip die.

Thanks for visiting!

Bokeh Joy

Hi!  I've made another card during my time off work!  This time I made it for the current sketch at MFT and the colour challenge at Sunday Stamps.

I thought I was over making Christmas cards for a long while, but apparently not... 😄

When I first saw the challenge graphic at Sunday Stamps, I had intended to make my own bokeh background using the challenge colours, but then I remembered my favourite patterned paper - Blurry Flurries - so found a couple of pieces that suited and went to work.

This card has way more layers than I'm used to!  I started with a Whip Cream card base, then added a stitched Dark Indigo layer, then the patterned paper.  Onto that I added the stitched flags in Autumn Rose and the black-stamped sentiment across those.  The central image was backed with another Dark Indigo stitched panel then patterned paper in a pinky tone.  The word "Joy" was die-cut from gold foil cardstock (I took a bit of creative licence and assumed the mustardy shade in the challenge would stretch to gold).  The snowflakes on top were cut from pale pink and Autumn Rose cardstock and stacked slightly off-set.

I finished with a pearl that I coloured dark blue with a Copic marker.

Thanks for visiting!

Micey Nice

Hi and welcome to this unexpected post!  It's been a long time since I've posted a card for a challenge rather than because I'm on the design team.  But this weekend was a long weekend and I had a bit of extra time and enthusiasm to be in my craft room.  On Friday I coloured up every image in the Mice Day to Celebrate set and then today (Monday) I decided to make a birthday card for my youngest niece and pulled out the coloured images.  It was nice to see that most of the colours I'd used matched the current colour challenge at MFT so I decided to work with their sketch as well to come up with this card.

Apologies for the horrible colour of the photo - it's a searing hot day today and all the curtains are closed to try and keep out the heat.  Consequently my lightbox - even with its lights - is casting a dull shade.

Onto the card.  I took the images I'd coloured which matched the colour challenge - I also coloured some with a teal colourway so left them out.  I chose some MFT cardstocks (possibly retired but I didn't have the exact match to the challenge).  I arranged my colours and card in accorance with the challenges and adhered everything but the mouse holding the gift with liquid glue.  For the wee mouse holding the gift, I used foam tape.

I finished by colouring the hats and balloon with clear sparkle pen and added some enamel dots and hearts in the challenge colours.

Thanks for visiting.

Birth-Yay

This week's sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches is courtesy of Judy Rozema and it's a good 'un!

I decided to play along with the Color Challenge at MFT Stamps and came up with this card, using a NBUS set, Birth-Yay.

I stamped and colored these images and die-cut them with the co-ordinating dies.  I then arranged them on a Grout Gray stitched circle.  I spent an inordinate amount of time going through all my patterned paper trying to find some in the challenge colors and this is what I came up with.  Stitched Fishtail Flag dies cut the patterned paper and also a sentiment strip.

All the elements were added to a white panel and that was popped up on craft foam onto the white card base, to which I'd added a strip of Limelight patterned paper.

To finish, I colored the cake, hat and horns with clear sparkle pen.

Thanks for visiting.  The DT have some gorgeous cards so I hope you'll check them out.

I'm also linking this up to Seize the Birthday.  As there are no presents on my card, I'm playing along with the Anything Goes part of the challenge.

Heart Happy

Hi and welcome yet again!  My blog hasn't been this busy in months 😄Today's card is for the latest sketch challenge at MFT Stamps, as well as the Color challenge at CASology - my card represents variations on a color, and the Anything Goes challenge at The Male Room.

Now, I was working from memory and sort of got the sentiment in the wrong place, but I hope that it's close enough to be acceptable.  To make this card, I die-cut several different-sized circles from a panel of white cardstock.  Behind those cut-outs, I added various pieces of cardstock in an ombre pattern.  I then adhered the panel to a white top-folding card base.

The 'because' word is stacked three high and added above the stamped sentiment.  A very simple card!

Thanks for visiting.

Stamps:  Because You (MFT)
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Cardstock:  White, Black Licorice, Tropical Teal, Blu Raspberry, Summer Splash, Berrylicious, Sno Cone (MFT)

Stars

Hi!  I'm at the start of a week off work (yay!) and hoping I can spend some considerable time in my craft room.  So today, I made a card using the sketch at MFT Stamps.  I was inspired by MFT's own packaging because earlier today I'd been putting away some new stamps and the black and white stripe with the pink really made me want to create 😄 Apologies for the glare in the photos - I took them with my phone rather than my camera and the colors are so in-your-face!

Anyways, I cut a strip of Black & White patterned paper off-centre on a white card base, then added two slivers of gold foil cardstock.  The "stars" word is stacked three high and covered with clear sparkle pen.  The sentiment was embossed with Melon Mambo EP onto a black strip and added with foam tape.

To finish the card, I added some stars which were also covered with clear sparkle pen.

Thanks for visiting.

I'm also linking this up to the bold letters challenge at Just Us Girls and the word challenge at Time Out.

Ink:  Versamark
Cardstock:  White, Ripe Raspberry, B&W Strips (MFT), Gold Foil

Plentiful Bouquet

Hi and welcome!  This is my card for the current sketch and color challenges at MFT Stamps.  It's been a while since I've played along with either and I wanted to join in.

To make this card, I started with a panel of Bristol Smooth and ink-blended Limelight and Blu Raspberry inks onto it.  I then adhered it to a white top-folding card base and set it aside.  Onto a panel of white I die-cut three circles to match the sketch.  I then used foam tape to adhere the die-cut piece to the ink-blended card.

The flowers were stamped in the challenge colors and arranged into a bouquet.  They were adhered using a mixture of foam tape and liquid glue.  A separate little flower was added directly to the card panel.  I finished the card with a die-cut "celebrate" liberally coated in clear sparkle pen.

Thanks for visiting!

Howdy

Hi and welcome!  Please give me a minute to dust off this old blog - this is probably the longest I've gone without posting a card, which is really, really frustrating because I'm just coming up on the end of two weeks off work and had great intentions of spending heaps of time making cards.  Well, the mojo and creativity disagreed.

Anyway, I spent a few hours the other day making this card (yes, a few hours!) and it uses the latest sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches.  We're back and we're back with a bang because we have three new DT members joining us for the next 6 months.  I'm not going to tell you who they are and I urge you to head over to the blog and check them out.

Today's sketch is courtesy of the delightful Amy O'Neill and it's a good one!  I decided to use the circle as a negative space and broke out a couple of NBUS sets.

I'm playing along with the color challenge at MFT Stamps as well, which is why I didn't create a scene behind my cowgirl.  To be honest, I did have a scene all made with grass and sky and then realised it used colors not in the color challenge, so decided to go really simple and have a plain gray background.

I colored up my image in the challenge colors and then used the co-ordinating dies to die-cut the images.  The white panel was die-cut with an inside/out stitched circle die as well as a stitched rectangle die, after which I stamped the sentiment in the bottom right corner.  All elements are glued directly to the Cement Gray card base apart from the cowgirl who is popped up on foam tape.

Thanks for visiting!  Please head over to the challenge blog and check out our new DT members as well as everyone's gorgeous cards.
