New release for August

This month we are playing with new digital images with  more of a creepmas/halloween themed feel!
I am very excited for this tme of the year, as I'm not really an avid holiday fan, but I do like halloween! It's not so much of a big thing over in the uk, but our village usually throws a party for the children, and it is a lot of fun. I know Cheri is a big halloween fan too, and enjoys carving pumpkins when she isn't drawing stuff up!

Rachel, Karleigh Sue Coordinator

There are four new images which will shortly be arriving in the Karleigh Sue Digital stamps section of Cheri's Store which you can find at www.cherishull.com
there is one cute and sweet and three dark and creepy (but still rather cute in their own way)

the four images are called: Take no shit, Tattered fairy, Voodoo Doll and Merry Creepmas!

The team have all used different mediums and layouts for their projects which I hope will give you some ideas on using the images to create your own projects- and we'd love to see yours with the new images over in the Karleigh Sue digital stamps fan group on facebook!

Lynda using tattered fairy

Lynda has combined this image with a background digital stamp from another company, for a wonderfully cute and whimsical feel card which you can read about on her blog

Rachel Using  voodoo doll

You can find more details on this card, and the creation of the background on her blog

Crafting Vicky using take no shit

Vicky has done a video of the creation of this page, and you can find it on her blog!don't you just love that awesome skull in the background?

 Winnie using merry creepmas

for more details on the creation of this card, you can hop over to her blog- don't you just love that eery green skin tone?

Thank you for joining us for our new release, and we hope you have enjoyed it as much as we've enjoyed making these projects for you!

queen collector

Hi there! Rachel with you today to share a card made with the digi 'queen collector' (store link)
which was one of the new release images that Cheri created last month!
it's a super cute image, I think you will agree, and perfect for teenage girls cards too!

I coloured the image using copic markers, and used three different patterned papers, trying to use papers that coordinate with the colours in the image. It is ALWAYS easier to pick your papers first, but I don't always do that! sometimes it is just as fun to have a good rummage in my paper collection and see what I can find after the image is already coloured. I'm also guilty of using the same colour scheme quite a lot, as I have some favourite colour combos I use over and over again!
I attempted to use minimal embellishment on this one, so added a couple of little jelly dots from queen and co, a pink button and some twine, and nothing else - sometimes it is nice not to pile it on, it depends on my mood!
the main thing is to create and have fun- I hope you like this card with it's slightly jaunty angles!

group post using this month's new releases!

Group post using this month's new releases!

Hey there everyone! Hope you are all enjoying the summer! I have two small children home on their summer holidays, and it is chaos!

We have a couple of design team members off on their vacations at the minute too,and I really hope they are enjoying themselves and getting some much needed R &R
and unfortunately our design team member Sharon has made the hard decision to leave us- she will be sadly missed on the team...
so with you today is a small skeleton crew post, to provide you some more inspiration using the images released in Cheri's web shop earlier this month on the 16th

you can find the link to the shop HERE

Lynda really has been busy, with two cards this time!
She's used ponytails and shotgun shells, and Candy Kisses to create two very different but equally striking cards- one in monochromatic colours and the very PINK candy Kisses card, which is my favourite- I'm a sucker for pink... which do you like the best?

I (Rachel) Have made a card using 'Tequila' and I think you can see I had as much fun arranging this for it's photo shoot as I did making the card... funnily enough though, I couldn't find any tequila!
I decided to try a new approach with this card, making the grey cardstock the main feature of the background , and adding strips of bright patterned paper. I think they complement each other beautifully, don't you?

Vicky has been busy doing some colouring, and one of her favourite past times right now is adding digital stamps to colouring pages, and journalling on them, which I think is a really fun and a brilliant way of making your colouring books something to keep and cherish! featured on this page is the digi 'Queen Collector'

That's us done for this month! I will leave you guessing at just WHAT we are going to be sharing with you next month! there will be new images again on the 16th, and lots of inspiration has already been created by the team to be posted throughout the month, so don't forget to hit FOLLOW to keep up to date on everything!

We also have a BRAND NEW facebook group for Karleigh Sue Digital stamps, so please do come and check it out!

Be a Unicorn (Nude)

Hey there! Rachel (Aka BritBitch) here with you today, to share a card I made with one of the recent new images in Cheri's store ' Be a Unicorn (Nude) ' this image also comes in clothed, if you aren't quite daring enough to use the naked version!

I opted for a bright and colourful colour palette for this one, using all the colours of the rainbow + pink- my favourite colour!

I merged the digital stamp with another stamp by SLS Lines , and sized in my editing program, before printing and colouring with copics.
I then pulled out my most colourful papers and narrowed it down to the one used here. I added some bling and die cut clouds, and a cheeky little paperclip to finish off.
The sentiment is from a sticker sheet that was meant to be for my project life - but I decided it was too perfect not to use on this card!

so just be you- whether you're a unicorn, or something else!

CAS Card with WW2 Landgirl

Hey there everyone! Rachel here with you today, to show you my latest card, using the gorgeous WW2 Landgirl-  you can find her in the custom section of the store, as she was my very own custom image!
I have had it coloured up for a little while, and finally worked out the perfect card layout to showcase it.... she was definitely asking for a touch of understated grunge.

I requested a WW2 Land Girl, because that's how I feel sometimes- I'm a country gal, and we are very much into sustaining our own family, with home grown produce... so if you can't find me online, I'm likely either in my blanket fort colouring, or down the allotment doing a bit of hoeing!

This card is a very Clean and simple sort of layout, with the sentiment stamped with alpha stamps straight onto the image layer... also on the same layer, I stamped some splats with distress and archival ink, to mimic a little mud.
The main image is coloured with copics and a little white gelly roll marker in the highlights.

for info on the other products used in this card, you are welcome to hop along over to my blog.

have a good day!

Group inspirational post and newsletter

Hello there, and I hope you are all having a fantastic day, wherever you are in the world!

May already has been a super busy month here at Karleigh Sue, with new books, digital stamps, and a lot of behind the scenes planning of various things.

As well as the new Mary Jane book, which arrived to join the colection from Cheri last month,  this month has also seen the release of the karleigh sue's little black coloring book, which is a mini sized book full of pin ups and sassy quotes- perfect to put in your handbag for coloring when you are bored but on the move, or for tucking into the glove box to color on the school run!
you can see more info on these books on the website, along with their links on Amazon.

and if two books in as many months weren't enough for you, I've been assured that there
is also going to be a new release of digital stamps next month on this date, (the 16th) so please keep your eyes peeled for those- Cheri is busy working on them behind the scenes, and from the previews I've seen, you are not going to want to miss them- so put the date in your calendars, and be back here on the 16th to see what she has dreamed up, and what the designers have created to fuel your creative mojos!

That's it for our news this month (so far), but we are not about to leave you without showing you what the karleigh sue inspirational team have been up to...
for today, they have some creations for you using the new Mary Jane digital stamps that you can find at cherishull.com - these digital stamps were released at the same time as the new mary Jane's adult coloring book, and are a very alternative yet fun set of stamps. the team collaborated on the theme this month, and decided they wanted to take the green theme from the last coloring team forward, and create makes heavily inspired by the Mary Jane Digis and the color GREEN..

Rachel has used the Mary Jane  'Ganga Fairy' digital stamp,

to create this 4 x 6" fridge magnet

Lynda has used  Mary Jane 'Freshly Baked'

to make this bright and punchy card with a hilarious (and very true) sentiment

Sharon has used Mary Jane 'peace pipe'

to create this gorgeous mixed media art journal page

and Crafting Vicky has also been art journalling, with Mary Jane  'Stoner Chick'

don't you just love those pick 'n' mix letters, and that washi?

If you want to see more of these projects, head over to the designers blogs for more detail on these projects!

don't forget to subscribe to this blog, to keep up to date with all the news, first peeks at the new releases, inspirational posts and the monthly crafter's challenge
&
for more inspiration by the karleigh sue team, Cheri's coloristas and the coloring community  (and to share your own adult colorings), head over to the

Mr Teddy- a CAS card

Hey there! It's been a rough couple of days, as I've been a little sick, but I've crawled over to the PC to get this post out!
I've never really been a CAS and minimal layers gal- I've been playing with it more recently, along with rectangular cards, which also used to be a total nemesis of mine. I have a REEEEAL problem leaving lots of white showing!
I thought I'd attempt it today though, and you'll have to let me know what you think.
IMG_4747[1]
I also released my grip on my copics today, and coloured in pencils- I used the 72 set of Marco Raffines on top of this Buff Cardstock from Papermill Direct.
The image I coloured is   Mr Teddy  that I printed right onto the buff cardstock, before colouring, then stamping my sentiment. I cut it a little smaller than a UK A6 card blank size, but to make it a truly one layer card, you could size your cardstock  a little bigger ;)

tattoo me up, buttercup!

Hi there! Rachel here with you, and yet another new card project to share!
yep, two blog posts in as many days, aren't you lucky? I'm trying to get as much in as possible before I'm away from my craft area for a couple of days later in the week, and there are so many images that have been calling to me to play with them! today's card is made using 'tattoo baby' from the  Karleigh Suestore,  and is a card I made to utilise some odds and ends of some cardstock and papers.

  IMG_4603[1]

I wanted to use quite a bold image to fit in with the striking paper, (both sides of it are used on this card) and tattoo baby was the perfect girl for the job! I loved colouring in all her tattoos and watching her come to life under my copics! I kept the card layout fairly simple, as with the intense papers, and with the image having lots going on, the simpler the layout the better, so as not to detract from the elements I wanted to pick out!

Rachel

el gato!

Hi there everyone! Rachel here with you today... It is my turn to share a project today, and I've managed to sneak in a last minute card with the brand new image 'El gato dia de los muertos' that Cheri finished up inking the other day... It's such an awesome image, especially if you are like me and love everything cat, day of the dead, and mardi gras related! gato
I went to town with the copics on this card! there were literally too many to list, as I tried to make it as colourful as possible.. and I had to do 'David Bowie eyes' - every time I can sneak odd coloured eyes into a project I will, as it definitely makes you look! I also added a quote from Bruce Beresford - ' there's a bright spot in every cloud'.... I know he's a cat, not a cloud, but it seemed to fit!

Embrace your inner boss(y) Bitch

Goood morning (or afternoon, depending on where you are! I'm finally back in the land of the living after my new router was delivered today, just in time to show my Inspiration card to you!
I've used HBIC from the Sellfy Store to make a clean and simple style card (heavy on the sentiment, which seems to kinda be my style) I love chopping the words up and placing them in different ways on the card, it feels fun, and hope it looks like it works well on the finished card too!

so yea.... today be all dominant and embrace your inner bossy bitch... if anyone complains, blame me!

Hap -Pea Birthday

Hi there! Rachel with you today, showcasing one of the little clip arts from the most current monthly colouring pack over at Karleigh Sue. I thought it would be fun to make some of the clip arts the main feature on some cards, and was immediately drawn to this cute pea pod! I decided to make this a more masculine themed card, so I used some greens, blues and mustards in my colour palette.

  IMG_4221[1]
I lightened the lines of the image, then coloured with my copics, for a 'no lines' effect, and added in a cast shadow underneath, so the pea pod didn't look like it was floating! as a finishing touch, I added some triple thick to the peas in the pod, to make them really POP from the pod! don't forget too, if you do get the colouring pack, you can enter your colouring or cards over in the official karleigh sue fan group on facebook, to be in with  chance of winning next months colouring pack absolutely FREE!

for the products and copic markers involved in making my card, you can go and check out my  Blog :)

have a great day everyone!

party time!

Hi there everyone! hope you are having a good day! it's been a manic one here in the wilds of Rutland, with my husband recovering from a minor surgery, and the kids squabbling like crazy.. add a mother in law to the mix, and yea... hopefully you will understand why i'm a bit late getting my post out to you!

I have a birthday card for you today, using 'birthday surprise'.. I didn't intentionally set out to make a birthday card to show you, but this image is FANTASTIC for what I was practising on- adding translucency to coloured images!

the image used is 'birthday surprise' and I'm sure the surprise is what clothing she has left after letting all the balloons go!

yup- plenty of shiny balloons, which although still pretty cute coloured without looking at how they relate to each other, and colouring accordingly, look awesome when you show some of the colours behind them, don't they? I'll try to bring you a more in depth tutorial later on this month for the technique.. it looks daunting and scary, but in reality it's not so difficult!

Product list:
copics - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 (skin) N8,N6,N4,N2 E21 (tights and shoes)
E29,E25,E21 (hair) YG17,YG25,YG23 (green balloons) BG07,BG05,BG02 (blue balloons and eyes) Y17,Y15,Y11 (yellow balloons) R56,R37,R35 (red balloons and lips)

birthday themed papers

cupid spinner card tutorial

Hi there, I have a little spinning card tutorial for you today- please excuse my work area... my mat has given up the ghost, so I'm working directly on the table! today I am working with Cupid , yet another image from this month's colouring club!

  1. in your image editing software size cupid to 10cm x2 and flip one image.
2.print, and fussy cut, or cut out on your electronic cutting machine- I used my Brother Scan 'n' cut. I always cut before colouring, in case something goes wrong - sometimes things shift on my mat, and I'd rather err on the side of caution!tut 1 3. put one of the images (it does not matter which one) face down, add DST to the top and bottom, and run a piece of thread down the middle. leave the ends long for now!tut 2   4. add more tape to the outside area of the image, and add the other one (face up) to it. this is why one image was flipped in the first stage. tut 3 5. Now the fun begins- you need to find yourself a circle die, or a circle to draw around and cut out - I used Sizzix Framelets circle dies (the largest one) tut 4you  will need to be careful that the papers and your card blank line up once your circles are cut- take it from me, this is not always the easiest task, and is why I've minimised my layers - just the card blank (14.5cm square) and a patterned paper. you may also notice later in this tutorial, my paper changes, as I changed my mind! my suggestion is to use low tack tape, to make sure neither the die, papers or card blank shift when cutting. tut 56. add a little tape to the top and bottom of the circle on your card blank, and attach cupids string to it- you want a little string at top and bottom, and you need to make sure the image will not snag on the edges of the circle. 7. now you carefully adhere your patterned paper on top, making sure everything lines up. (I'm sorry, here some of my photos weren't the best, so I will have to talk you through to the end!) tut 7 8. finish how you wish! I diecut another circle to place behind the image, on the inside of the card, stamped a sentiment, added some die cut hearts, and freehand doodled around the edge. Then have a spin.... :) thank you for sticking with me through this, and do let me know if you decide to give it a try...
