Vintage Postcard

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, the Vintage Veranda has as their theme for this month "Love Letters & Stolen Kisses."
I posted a challenge there today to create a vintage Valentine postcard. The challenge runs all month and there will be a "lovely" RAK given at the end of the month. That's my sample above.
If you haven't checked out the gallery at Vintage Veranda lately you must! Vicki Chrisman, our guest artist this month has added some absoutely fabulous vintage items.

Vintage Veranda Challenge

Our Guest Artist this month at Vintage Veranda is Jacqueline from My Scrapbasket. She has posted a challenge this month to make a grid card. She is so good at this -- but definitely a challenge for me. I made this simple card using one of the images from Art Creations Friday and some landmark images from Crafty Individuals.
If you'd like to join in the challenge you can find out the how-to's over Vintage Veranda. Oh, and Jacqueline is offering up an RAK to a random participant, too!

Dreaming of Far Away Places

I created this postcard for Vintage Veranda's first monthly challenge of the new year. Our theme for January is Dreaming of Far Away Places. If you join in this month, there's an RAK for one random participant -- and in includes brand new rubber!

Looking for a Challenge?

Lots of challenge blogs are on hiatus for the holidays, but Lyneen has been kind enough to post a challenge for us at the Vintage Vernada. And, let me say, it was a challenge. More than just a theme. You can see her challenge here. There's a little RAK here, too:)

I finally inked up this Christmas tree stamp I received from Ros as an RAK. It's from Paper Artsy. Since the challenge called for a "little bling" I punched holes in the tree with a tiny punch and then added some very shiny silver paper behind it. It gives it a very neat sparkly effect.

The background text is from Art Impressions. Speaking of Art Impressions, I got their December newsletter through my e-mail yesterday and imagine my surprise to see one of my cards I submitted for their monthly contest on the front page!

Inspired by Tim

The Vintage Vernada is having a special challenge hosted by Sarah. She wants you to use one of Tim Holtz' techniques he showed during his 12 Tags of Christmas. You can find the challenge here.

Sarah won't believe this, (actually, I know she will) but I was working on a tag using Tim's technique from Day 10 where you add distress reinkers, Perfect Pearls and water in a mini mister. You then spray it onto your background which is what I did on this tag. The shimmer is hard to see here, but it's really a lovely effect.
A lot of challenge blogs are taking breaks for the holidays, so if you are going through challenge withdrawal, check this one out. Sarah is also offering up a little RAK for one participant. Not only that, but you have until January 3rd to enter.

O Tannenbaum

That's our theme for this month over at Vintage Veranda. We just got through with our Thanksgiving weekend craft-a-thon and now we are planning some more fun things for this month.
We have a new guest artist -- the very talented
Queen of Moos herself, Nellie. She has loaded our gallery with some lovely pieces. You'll definitely want to see these.
I made the card above for our first challenge this month which is to create something with a vintage Christmas tree on it.

Vintage Veranda Challenge

I made these 12 Days of Christmas Tags for Sarah's challenge at Vintage Veranda which was to create some gift tags for our Christmas packages. I used an old stamp set from Rubber Stampede of the 12 Days of Christmas.
I created the background by applying distress inks to craft paper and then spraying it slightly with water. I then picked up the ink with my tag.
The images were colored with Copic markers which worked very well with thevintage look.

Black Friday

That's what we call it here in the States -- the day after Thanksgiving when retailers try to get themselves out of the red and into the black fiscally speaking. The stores are mobbed starting very early in the day.
Rather than jump on that bandwagon this year, a few of us at Vintage Veranda decided to host a crafting day instead. So if you are in the same kind of mood today, why don't you hop over to the Vintage Veranda and join in the crafting fun. Check the thread under Black Friday Craft-A-Thon to see what's going on.

This is the card I posted at VV for today's challenge. It consists of making an inchie and using it in an ATC and then making a card out of it. Kind of fun!

It worked out well because I like this Crafty Secret image, but it had a sentiment I didn't care for on it. Turns out my inchie covers it perfectly.

I had lots planned today with the activities over at Vintage Veranda, so when I saw the weekly challenge at Make A Moo or Two was "monkeys" I figured good enough, I have no monkeys, I'll just skip this week. Then as I was rifling through some ephemera for another project, I came across this image of Sock Monkey (very big item here in the States) and I just had to make at least one Moo!

Vintage Veranda

Today is a fun day over at Vintage Veranda. I know you'll want to go over and check out what's going on there.
We are announcing the winner of our Harvest challenge. They'll win a one-of-a-kind Vintage Veranda Fun Pack.

We have a new theme this month which is "Generations."

Our Guest Artist is Kris Dickinson -- she's got a wonderful technique she's sharing.

Also today Sarah shares her weekly vintage treasure. Can't wait to see what that is.

And since it's the first Tuesday of the month I'll be posting a new challenge. The theme is going to be "Women and Children" to go along with our Generations theme. Why don't you pop over there and see all the great artwork that has been going up in our gallery. Maybe you'll want to add something of your own for our new challenge.

Here's my sample card for the new challenge.

The stamp is from Queens Dresser Drawers. Background paper is from K&Co.

Today is Launch Day for the Vintage Veranda! VV is a forum/message board for vintage lovers -- new and seasoned. Our board is not designed to sell anything, our only goal is to provide a place to share ideas, chit-chat and challenge each other. It is totally free to join up and join in!
We will officially start TODAY at 10:00 a.m. CST.
There are all kinds of exciting ways to get on board -- just register and then see what you'd like to do to increase your chances to win some of VV's unique Fun Packs we are giving away to celebrate this new venture.
We'll have a different theme every month. There will be two challenges a month to coincide with our theme. We'll have a guest artist every month who enjoys creating vintage style art and who will share tips or techniques. We also have a special feature where we share some of our unique treasures.
It's going to be fun -- hope you'll join us here.

I loved making today's moo.....one, because I haven't been able to join in the challenge for a couple weeks and, two, because I love any time I came make something romantic and/or pretty.

Today's theme of "dancing" allowed me to do just that. You can see all the other submissions at http://makeamooortwo.wordpress.com/

This & That

Yes, it's another day and I have another new blog background. Sometimes too much choice is not a good thing. With all these new "free" backgrounds available my ever-changing menopausal mind is, frankly, overwhelmed.
So I guess the only thing you can expect to see the same around here is that things will be constantly changing.
Speaking of change, something else new is on the horizon!
Click the Vintage Veranda blinkie on the left to get a glimpse of an all new Vintage Message Board that is under construction. It's slated to Open October 10th. If you are a fan of all things vintage, you will definitely want to check this out.
More details will follow.......
