A Couple of Cards

A couple of cards I made this morning using new papers
by Authentique.
I showed their Christmas papers in
my last post, and I also love this
pink and gray line I used here called Uncommon.
You can see their new papers here
Their Halloween line, Glowing, is some of the best Halloween paper I've seen.

The image I used here is from Paper Whimsey.  Isn't she sweet?   Well, maybe not sweet -- she actually looks sassy, doesn't she?

This ship collage came through my friend Pam just in time to make a much needed card for a male colleague.

Ship collage stamp is from TAC. Background mesh stamp is from Prima Marketing. I colored the image with Copics and then added distress ink on top. (I don't want Tim thinking I don't know how to use those distress inks:)

Teaching Day

I'm over here today, teaching a card class as well as this ornament!

Crowns and Wings

That's this weeks theme at Sunday Postcard Art. If I had better light I'd have taken a photo of this because a scan just does not show the sparkle in this card -- in the jewel I placed in the top of the crown or the way the stars sparkle over these little angels as well as the little gems in the bottom corner.

I did an alcohol ink background here on this paper from DCWV called The Luxury Stack. It's a glossy cardstock and it took to these inks fabulously.

The image is from Crafty Individuals, quote is from Stampers Anonymous, bird from Prima, and crown flourish from Autumn Leaves.

Cavallini Stickers

Today I had in mind to just make something with these gorgeous Cavallini bird stickers that have been sitting on my craft table for months. This is the outcome. The sentiment is by
Studio G. I embossed the top portion of the card using the Swiss Dots folder with my Cuttlebug. And that was about it.

Remember Mother's Day

What started out as a tag for a challenge at Stampin D'Amour (bottom picture) turned into a Mother's Day card.

The tag itself, the background papers and the monogram are from K&Co.
The female image is from Art By Moonlight. The sentiment on the top card is from Art Impressions.
The little hanger I found at a local gift store. Someone inquired about them, and I know I've seen them on-line -- just can't remember where.

Turquoise and Brown

I actually made this card for the Stampers Sampler call for turquoise cards. The brown background was stamped with a flourish stamp from Making Memories in white pigment ink.
The hearts are from Studio G. Sentiment is from Hero Arts.
the polka dot ribbon was from Costco.

Mother's Day Card

Yesterday's card had one of my favorite color combinations, purple and green. Today's card has another of my favorites, pink and purple. A Mother's Day card using Penny Black flower stamps. Sentiment by Hero Arts.
This close up shows the Brilliance ink (Rocket Red Gold) I used in the flower. I love the shimmer that Brilliance pearlescent inks leave behind.

Round Robin Cards

I still haven't posted some things from my stamping retreat last weekend. One of these things we did was a round robin where we went to different stations set up to make cards. We made a total of about 16 cards. Here are a couple of them I made.

Handmade Paper

One of the things we did on my stamping retreat this past weekend was make handmade paper. I had never done this before and found it quite interesting. Would I repeat the process at home? No. But it was fun to have done it once. No tutorial here, just to say we mixed plain turquoise paper, some ribbon scraps, and some glittery stuff into a blender and ended up with this beautiful paper from which I then made these three cards.

All Occasion Card

I really like this text-filled hat from Impression Obsession. I think one of the reasons I'm drawn to stamps like this is that it removes a lot of the coloring questions which is not one of my strong suits. So stamped onto some patterned paper it's good to go. The sentiment is from Penny Black. The faux brads in the corner are Liquid Pearls.

I've not even put away the Christmas stamps yet and now I've got Valentine's Day on the brain. Must be the new CardMaker Magazine that arrived in the mail yesterday showing one of the cards I submitted for Valentine's Day.

I stamped a flourish design on these "ghost" letters from Heidi Swapp with Black Staz-on. For the heart I stamped some text background from Hampton Arts onto cardstock and then cut out the design and placed it behind the "ghost" heart.

Simple Note Card

I needed a generic note card this week -- stat -- and realized I really didn't have a lot to choose from in my entire stash of cards! So I whipped this one up using a clear flower stamp from Stampendous I'd not yet used. I don't like to have stamps I haven't used yet when I've ordered new ones, so I'm kind of on a mission now to use some stamps before more arrive!

Something Different....

.....from the vintage and collage stuff I've been focusing on lately. I picked up these two stamps over the weekend at Hobby Lobby for like $2 each, so I thought I'd try them out.

Both images are from American Art Stamp. These skinny little creatures are not so easy to color.

Tomorrow....

...is the big reveal! I'll have the winner posted early.

I've made this card before, but I just get a kick out of it. I got the sentiment from one of those "think happy thoughts" calendars with butterflies and daisies all over. I like to look for these in bookstores in late January or February when they sell for $1 or so. I will usually buy the ones that have a thought for every day of the year and can always find different ways to incorporate the sentiments into my artwork. This one I generated on the computer and printed onto vellum. But I like the slant "Maude" adds to this card. You can just hear the sarcasm in her voice saying, "Yeah, right."
The stamp is from Art Impressions. I am a big fan of their stamps. I find their images very easy to color, and coloring is not my strong suit. I used watercolor pencils to color "Maude".
