I can

hear hubs plane flying overhead....

so very exciting, he has been away from us for over 5 months with 2 very quick trips home the first was for 2 full days and 2 days of traveling the second was for 7 days with r 2 days of traveling,

Miss I has had a quiet day, lots of sleeping, spewing and feeling sorry for herself.

She got to stay at Grandmas for a little while tonight as the other 2 and I were going out for dinner, we ate, chatted collected the sickie came home and they all went to bed without a fight.

Henry escaped out the front tonight but had no idea what to do once he was out there so he was very easy to catch and bring back inside lol

Harry was locked outside on the deck for a little while in the rain, oops

hopefully I will get a chance to post tomorrow sometime no promises but will definitely post on Sunday, will be asking for some good vibes for our nephew then

we have friends coming for a few drinks tomorrow night and grandma and grandpa coming Sunday night for a lasagna feast.

Did I mention that my hubs plane has flown over the house and that means he will be in our door within the next 30 minutes

YIPPEE

welcome home baby we missed you

Tonight Tonight

He's coming home TONIGHT

girlies have no idea as they will be fast asleep I can't wait to see their faces in the morning when they discover daddy home :)

Having a home day today :( I was woken by a little voice saying Mummy I don't feel well then she ran for the bathroom, so Miss I is on the couch watching tv with her trusty bucket.

I hate vomit, it makes me want to vomit lol.

I did the pie count again last night, because I needed to start a new batch, I am sure they are breeding, because I now  have

50 finished pies

and

50 still to be done pies.....

and I thought I was almost done lol

at least I am halfway through them I suppose

but that means I have 80 tarts to do also

sheesh will they ever end lol

oh and this is what I made for Miss Deb in our PIF thingy

and a closer look

I do enjoy paper piecing really lol

Wanna Pincushion???

As I had some left over half square triangles from the pinwheel quilt I finished yesterday I thought I would make a pincushion or 2 and as I really don't need 2 pincushions the same I thought I might just give the other away

so here it is

and the flip side

if you would like the pin cushion just leave a comment on any post that may be made
between yesterday and today and we'll draw a name out of the
trusty bowl on Sunday!

I received an email today with flight details for DH,

but they were for his flights HOME nooooo
they were for a flight to Melbourne next Friday
he is such a tease lol

I wanna go to Melbourne too

I dropped the pinwheel quilt off to Leanne today :)

so to celebrate I have been watching Oprah and sewing
Pies and Tarts

39 pies to go woo hoo

I might have to start a new project tomorrow....

Hub's will be home on Saturday apparently I am not
holding my breath though I know too well how shipping
schedules can change in the blink of an eye

Violin this afternoon and I really don't want to have to take Miss S today

I am having a seriously slack day lol

Goodies

Tonight I *heart* the delivery man I would *heart* him even more had he come when I was at home and not after school when I went to do what I had to do, because then I had to go to the other side of town to collect my parcel of loveliness.

and collect it I did.

What was tucked inside

well there was this

and this

and then there was this

and today while I waited for the courier man I finished sewing
this together, its off to be quilted tomorrow :)

and a closer view minus Henry

I have also made two pincushions, photo tomorrow and I would like to give the 2nd
one away, if you would like to have a black and white pincushion that measures
approx 5" x 5" leave a comment and I'll draw a name from the trusty bowl on Sunday :)

Dear Delivery Dude

Could you please deliver my much wanted  needed book and the quilt kit I might have bought tomorrow.

I am dying from excitement here, and I just don't need to make any more 2.5" pinwheels I did that today

PLEASE Mr Delivery Dude

make your appearance tomorrow

or my liver with suffer lol

on a quilty note I spent 3+ hours today making 24 2.5" pinwheels, who'd have thought they would take so long, I also have sewn sashings on, hence the need for those pesky pinwheels, its all good though as I just need to add the side sashing with pinwheels attached and the borders....

I feel I am a little bit OVER pinwheels, even though the quilt is looking mighty fine (if I do say so myself)

ohhhh and I just need to sew up the binder cover that is in bits on my sewing table

and I found a kit today  a few weeks ago that I bought oh 2 years ago, using yummy Shangri-La by 3 sisters, but I am thinking I might not make the quilt I am supposed to  I just don't quite know what to make I do know that it won't involve pinwheels lol.

I might just make a schnibble or 3 if ever the delivery dude arrives.

I have a new family member to introduce to you all tomorrow.......

I 'might' need to confess

that late one night last week I might have visited the Fat Quarter Shop

and that late one night last week I might have found myself pressing the

'add to shopping cart' button

once or twice

and I need to confess that I really didn't NEED the quilt kit that I might have ordered

but I WANTED it, oh did I want it

after I might have gone shopping

I might have done a little bit more shopping there

but I HAD to have the book

I HAD to know what all the schnibble fuss is about, well actually no

I NEED the book so I can use the layer cakes and charm square packs that I have been collecting

In my books that was a necessary purchase

and today is supposed to be delivery day YIPPEE, so I am hunkering down here until the dude knocks on my door and passes me my new book and the quilt kit I  had to have

I had to get in 1 final shop as my man is coming home sometime this week for 7 long long long weeks

I'll be able to work on his to do list while I wait lol that will keep him busy for at least 6 weeks lol

Now I have confessed I can get on with the rest of my day, they say confession is good for the soul, so I am feeling great right now.

and I managed to get 7 pies made last night :), I am pretty sure that leaves me with at least 50 more pies to be made.....and don't get me started on the tarts lol right I felt the urge to count the Pies, in the hope some of them stitched themselves together alas they hadn't

but

**** I have 48 completed Pies, 30 of those are sewn onto the background fabric.....go me, sadly that still leaves me 42 Pies to make and stitch to the background fabric and 70 tarts, the tarts can wait as I can do them once the Pie top is sewn together*** not to shabby an effort considering  I started the Pies and Tarts in Febuary 2009 lol fingers crossed this baby will be finished before 2010 ends.

Last of the finishes

Deb please look away now lol

The fabric buckets I made the pattern is in Janelle Winds Pieces of Me book, took me ages
to sew the binding down, but I finally did it in 30 minutes

they sit on the window sill in the sewing room unless Henry wants to sit on the windowsill then they are moved to the couch lol

and the Mystery Quilt I start before we left the West

the fabric is by Jason Yentour, I have the blue fabric too its delish

its almost big enough for my bed, just not enough hanging over the edge
for my liking

a close up of the blocks in it, they are just repeated.

Love this quilt, even though I am not a green person.

Just had the carpet man here to try and remove the naughty puppies stain

the stain is still there....

dh and I are in negotiations on removing the carpet.

he wants it to stay I want it to go.......

I think I am going to win lol

and that is the last of my finishes for July, I am back to the pies and tarts at night now....

I think I need a new night time project lol

you can look now Miss Deb lol

Another Finish

Remember this quilt, will ta da its 100% finished

and close up of the front

and the quilting on the back

Leanne at Esme's quilts all my tops.

Love her work and I love how crinkly the quilt is
after its been washed and dried

Then yesterday I was stitching down binding on the Booger quilt. This is what happened

she can't see me if I can't see her

oh you're talking to me

he stayed there until I went to bed last night.

So Miss Deb you don't want me to admit that the booger quilt is 100% finished too, washed and
drying as I type...

A Finish

I made Miss S a scatchel for her music books today, Its a bit floppy as I didn't sandwich it with anything, so I will make her another over the weekend. It has to be black for orchestra.

and the inside of it.

Watch this space for the improved version.

and I finished the last 3 blocks for my pinwheel quilt.

I'll be starting the borders tonight.

Today and some finishes

This is what I found when I came home today, the boys resting on the naughty
puppies bed.......this is the closest these 2 have ever willingly slept I guess
the sun was too much for them to ignore

and a finish

wall canvases for the little hallway between the girlie's bedroom

the naughty puppy is back to his naughty self. We are just waiting for the cats to
finish their dinner and he is coming in, as we have 'treatments' to do to him

I have another finish but I can't share until its been received.

DH is due home next week, he has a job interview in Melbourne as some stage
so I am going to Melbourne for the day too, it looks like he will get another interview but
I am not to sure I want him to get that one......lets just say

1 job is in Tasmania
the other isn't.

Had some not so good news about one of our nephews last night, he has a cyst on a kidney and also in his neck and is facing major surgery in 2 weeks so today I sent him a parcel of love
to help make his stay in hospital that little bit more fun, but as I have girlie's I had to enlist the help
of a girlfriend who has a 10 year old boy because I have NO IDEA what 9 year old boys are into

so fingers crossed he enjoys his Zac Power books, Lego and the card games we sent.

I posted some fabric yumminess to 2 lovely ladies today 1 PIF gift and a birthday fat quarter swap gift.

and that was my day. Exciting stuff lol

Poor Poor Puppy **UPDATE**

The poor puppy has a ruptured eardrum, he is on antibiotics, cream and drops & is having a follow up visit in 2 weeks. He is spending the night inside in the bathroom and just left the most disgusting surprise on my bedroom floor. Lucky I love him

I so need to add him to our health insurance lol

                                       ***************************************

I took the naughty puppy to the vet this morning about his ears, the last 3 times he has seen a vet about his ears we were told it was because he has floppy ears and that after he has been swimmig (as labs love to do) the water in his ears doesn't dry out, hich in turns causes a Yeast infection....

WRONG

our naughty puppy has an allergy to who knows what, so he is still at the vets awaiting his turn in the operating room to have all the muck in his ears cleaned out and so the vet can get a good look inside, and because its classed as 'dirty surgery' he is the last animal being done today and won't be home until after 6pm tonight, so I have had to organise Mum and Dad to come and sit with the girlies so  can collect the naughty puppy. Fingers crossed he can walk because there is NO WAY I can lift him lol

He didn't even chase the cats when he came in this morning :(

*Sigh* I think I need to add the naughty puppy onto our health insurance lol

Park Avenue

Park Avenue by 3 Sisters arrived last week at Esme's I saw it while Mum and I were Dear Jane-ing

I am in LOVE

so......

today I called into Esme's for some Vlisofix (which I forgot lol) and because I want to make Miss S a new quilt for her bed because I loathe the quilt that I made her, but she loves it so that is what counts isn't it

Miss S's quilt

very bright and loud, very not ME lol

anyhoo I digress, I started to look in some books for a  quilt pattern and then was sidetracked by the Park Avenue, well guess who is getting a new quilt made from Park Avenue and its not Miss S...............oops

 Park Avenue goodness

I will share the fabric pile as soon as the girlies have finished their dinner which is chow mein by the way lol

then I called into the Post Office and had some Happy Mail in the form of Block 1 of Down in the Garden by Leanne Beasley, I saw it in Melbourne at APQ and fell in love with it (photo to come)

then I picked up some new patchwork mags so tonight I am going to have a read, finish off my secret project and see who leaves Masterchef......
who do you think will win???

I also bathed the naughty puppy who STANK, he is off to the vet in the morning as he has some ear issues (again) and the poor boy is still a bit wet :( so he is in the laundry resting and waiting to come inside to the warm

a not so happy naughty puppy, we know he isn't happy because when he came inside he didn't jump around like a lunatic as he usually does :( poor poor puppy

and my sewing assistant from last night, he couldn't get on the sewing cabinet so he went for his second favourite spot

We can see clearly now

The Door has gone!

A certain girlie has been slamming her door for weeks and she won't let
anyone into her room, me included so

on the weekend she was told if she slammed it ONCE more I would
take it off

she thinks I was bluffing lol and she will be in for a shock this
afternoon when she finds her door has GONE lol

does that make me a mean mummy????

as for Henry, he was miffed that I put the breakfast bowls in the
dishwasher BEFORE he got to have his daily milk....so he
hopped into the sink in retaliation, but he forgot that we have 2 sinks lol

and a sneaky peak at a secret project , its all ready for quilting
I am hoping it will be postal Wednesday :)

and the sun has finally come out from the fog this morning
took until lunchtime but its out now and its lovely, Henry is currently
resting on the windowsill in the sun....

Oh to live his life lol

Its a Perfect Sewing Day

WHY is it a perfect sewing day??

The heavens have opened and the rain is falling

I have 3 more pinwheel blocks to sew together and 1hr of work on a secret project before I get to sew it together ready to go into the post THIS WEEK!

My 'jobs' are all done in the 3 hours I have been awake I have

cleaned the kitchen,
washed the cat bowls and fed the boys
loaded the dishwasher
turned on the dishwasher
made my bed and cleaned up my bedroom (put clothes and shoes away)

then I

got the washing out of the drier
folded it and the girlies have either thrown it on their floors or put it away
1 load of washing done and in the drier
1 load of towels waiting to go in the drier

I have had 3 cups of coffee, read the Sunday papers (I love the Sunday papers)
I have blog hopped and found some new blogs to read :)

I am about to jump in the shower and get dressed, we are taking  trip to Kmart for some dvd's to watch, then I am off to borrow the book!

Like I said Its a perfect sewing day and that is exactly what I plan on doing in about 1hr.

Hope your day is as relaxing as mine :)

Amazed and a bit Speechless

The girlies and I were meeting friends for dinner tonight but I had to desperately drop off our overdue library books into the library as well as Mrs Y's books so made a quick trip to the librabry on the way.

I ran in dropped the books, went to the counter to renew one  I hadn't  finished  started, the woman serving commented on a book I had reserved, its on 'manly' quilt patterns, she said is was 'boring' lol, I commented I was really looking for a mariners compass pattern when she wrote down her name, address and phone numbers and told me to come over on Sunday and she would lend me her book of Mariners Compasses.

I didn't really know what to say so I just said thank you so much and I would see her Sunday

and dinner was YUMMY

I love Sizzling Chilli Beef :)

What a Fabulous Day

Its Friday :)

no more rushing to get the girlies breakfast & lunches made, hair x 3 done, dressed in clean uniforms, teeth brushed,  then to school on time....then there is the fact that coffee needs to be drunk....lots of coffee before I am ready to go out in public. Mornings are not my strong point lol.

Jack Frost visited so it was cold cold start, 2 degrees at 9am, now the dishwasher has almost finished, the washing is almost ready to come out of the dryer, all the washing is folded, ready to be put away. I baked yesterday afternoon so I don't have to worry about afternoon tea for the girlies, we have for the 3rd day in a row a friend coming home from school, its Miss S's turn today. I am off to assembly at noon with Grandma and Grandpa Miss E's class is presenting and she has a 'speaking part' so we were told we HAD to come lol.

I am about to head into the sewing room to continue ewith the pinwheels, I only have 3.5 blocks to make :)  then I start sewing it together.

I have had supplies for a project arrive, tonight I will play with that and make a start.

the sun is shining what more could you ask for :)

Pinwheels

I have just finished 6 blocks for a pinwheel quilt with 6 to go

only to discover the pinwheels are sewn together the wrong way lol

now I don't know whether to unpick them or leave them.

I could live with them as they are

you could say I have 'individual' pinwheels lol

I share a picture tomorrow

Its just our turn

for things to stop working.
In the 17 years that dh and I have been together we have never  had anything happen on such a continueous basis nor had to replace many electrical appliances, we have replaced them in the past not because they have stopped working but because we updated

Since we came back from WA we have had to replace or repair

* Tv
* Hot Water Cylinder
* transformers for our all downlights (12 in total)
* oven thermosat
* our deck needs some urgent repairs  (builder is booked to fix it)
* the washing machine!
* the car (seeing the insurance assessor today)
* the bamix thingie
* the front window breaking
* dvd players
* the girlies heater

and you know the 2 things I would love to stop working are going strong and will probably NEVER stop those being the mix master I would love a Kitchen Aide mixer and the microwave, its white I want stainless lol its always the way lol

there isn't to much left in the way of appliances that we need to repair or replace now so fingers crossed this is the last of our expenses, because that list above has seriously cut into my fabric fund lol, and it needs to stop NOW lol
.

the sewing circle

yesterday while Miss I was at an afternoon tea, Miss S and Miss E had a sewing lesson

Miss S made a cat

Miss E made a Toucan

Miss I made a birdie under Henrys close supervision this morning

I stuffed them they sewed them.

So proud of my girlies

but am soooo glad I am waiting until the holidays to make the yo yo monkeys.

It will take that long to get my patience back lol

But I wish we had waited until today to sew as its a miserable day

but the rain is doing wonders for my garden and it will make it easier to
transplant the hydranga and the 2 Japanese Maples that need  relocating
