Trunk Show Tuesday

This one, I have no idea about - I only vaguely remember it, and although there are two photos of it stuck into my book, I didn't label it, so it's a mystery. And it predates my quilting blog, which only started in 2006. Not sure about those years between the book and the blog. Might have some random photos somewhere?

I'm almost at the end of the book now, but I might still reprise a few older things from my blog when I get to that point - I think there are 3 or 4 more finished pieces in the book...

Trunk Show Tuesday

This is another baby quilt - I remember making and giving this one. This was for a friend who was part of a little book group - we met online and used to meet up in London occasionally. It's been a long time since we were able to meet up, and this friend has had two more kids since the one I made this for. I'm still in touch with two of this group on Facebook, but I wonder what happened to the third person (there were only four of us)...

Trunk Show Tuesday

Another baby quilt for a colleague who had a baby (or in this case, his wife had the baby) - this one, I honestly have virtually no memory of! But I do remember the fabric. This would have been around 2002.

Trunk Show Tuesday

This is one of those quilts I remembered once I saw it, but would never have remembered otherwise. It was made for a colleague who went on maternity leave, back when I used to work at New Scientist.

Trunk Show Tuesday

A lot of the older quilts I've been showing, I barely remember even making - especially some of the baby quilts. This one, though, I do remember. I made it for my mother, and she probably even still has it, though I have made her quite a few since then. I do remember there were LOTS of pieces on this one!

Trunk Show Tuesday

A baby quilt for a friend's daughter, made in 2002.

Trunk Show Tuesday

This was a baby quilt made for a colleague way back before I gave up work at New Scientist - apparently in March 2002. Always did like this design. Might have to do it again.

Trunk Show Tuesday

This one was made in March 2002, apparently, for my friend Jen. I don't think there was an occasion, in particular. You can tell we are still in the old quilts section, as my quilting is still very minimalist!

Trunk Show Tuesday

This one, I made as a 30th birthday present for my brother. That was back in 2002. I know this got a lot of use, the binding is pretty much completely gone now. Time to make him a new quilt, perhaps (they have others - there was a wedding quilt, a quilt from my dad's Hawaiian shirts and of course a baby quilt for my lovely niece...)

A commission quilt for a friend's niece.

Trunk Show Tuesday

Another old baby quilt, from another "baby" who is now at least 14 or 15.

Trunk Show Tuesday

An old baby quilt - I don't really think 2001 is that long ago, until I realise that the baby for whom this was a birth present is turning 15 later this week. Time flies!

Trunk Show Tuesday

This one was a gift for a friend & co-worker (at the time); I haven't actually seen her in quite a few years, so I hope the quilt is still going strong. It's a good pattern - I think it came from Australian P&Q magazine originally, though I no longer have it. It would be easy enough to work out, though, if I wanted to do it again. Maybe for a PL quilt.

Trunk Show Tuesday

This is one I still have somewhere - I don't have it hanging up at the moment. Like most of my older quilts, the quilting is fairly minimal, so it annoys me to see... Maybe someday I will requilt this one like I did the old rail fence one - it's not that big and would be easy enough to do on my domestic. The worst part is of course picking out the old quilting...

Trunk Show Tuesday

This is a quilt I made for my friend Kristen - I think it was a belated 30th birthday present. Or something.

It's all in batiky type fabrics and was a square in a square, with rail-fence blocks as the inner square. Not sure how big it was - huge!

Trunk Show Tuesday

Continuing the virtual trunk show with a rather bad set of photos to show this particular quilt, which I made for my stepmom, back in 2001. I notice now that the colour placement is a bit odd, but those were early days for my quilts, and I probably wasn't as fussy. Or perhaps just not as observant...

Trunk Show Tuesday

Another one where I think I'll show the whole page from my old quilt album - these were two small quilts made on commission; they were the inverse of one another - blue with yellow and yellow with blue (which is which, you may ask).  Quite sweet, really.

Trunk Show Tuesday

Thought I'd show the whole page on this one as I like the snippets of fabrics. I think this was another quilt that came from a fat quarter pack or range, but I could be wrong. This one is still in Sarah's room, so I'm better able to show a good photo of it, take in the sun recently:

Trunk Show Tuesday

This is another old piece, made from a FQ pack, mostly - I used to belong, back in the days before I had a decent stash, to one of those clubs where you get a pack every month or so.

I've always liked it, but the quilting was very poor as it was an early effort, so a few years ago, I ripped out the old quilting (it's a small piece) and requilted it.

I like the quilting a lot better now, but I haven't put it up on show because I stuck some binding on it and then promptly put it away "to finish off later".  We know when "later" is,  don't we.

Yep, here it is. Maybe I'll finish it off this year...  Of course, at the moment, I need to stitch the binding down on the Christmas Tree Skirt, so it's not going to happen straight away...

Trunk Show Tuesday

Another oldie - this one was made for my friend Cathi, who lives in Ireland. It's a Catherine's Wheel variation, which makes sense, given her name. The photos are pretty awful, but perhaps I'll tag her when it posts to FB and see if she's still got it around to post a better photo!

Again, it's very basic stitching on it, just quilt in the ditch around the blocks - these were early days for me...
