Tula Pink no 45
This set of blocks, I wasn't completely sure about back when they were just blocks, but someone predicted they'd work better together once they were assembled, and I think that person was right - the effect is pretty good now that they are all together. Just needs a border...watch this space!

Tula Pink, number 62
Gradually working my way through the stacks of blocks which need to be assembled into tops...and then bordered. Obviously, the second stage of this process hasn't happened yet!

Number 62
This is another Tula Pink block - number 62. This time I chose a single fabric to work with - the stripe - and then picked two which coordinate. It works ok, but I think the blue dominates a bit.
It's better in a sort of zigzaggy layout.
Here's a closeup of the block on its own - I only made a dozen of them, as that's all I had of the stripey fabric. But it's fun to play!

Number 45
Another experiment with Tula Pink blocks - this one I thought I'd try in black, white and two other colours, but I'm not sure it worked. I'm still trying to reconcile the modern feel of these blocks, and the way they use colour, with the type of stash I have - not sure it's entirely successful, but I'm enjoying the ride!
And I'm sure this small stack will make a nice little quilt, even if they aren't perfect...

Tula Pink no 5: Good to Go
Here's a finished, bordered top, made from some Tula Pink blocks (number 5). I don't think these blocks have quite enough contrast, but it's a sweet top anyway; I'll just have to keep trying with the Tula Pink blocks to get my fabric choices really suitable... What a hardship!
I auditioned a number of border fabrics for this top:
the spotty one with all the colours in the top, plus brown;
a bright green an blue print with butterflies (which I decided was just a bit too bright in the end);
and this light green batik print.
Then I narrowed it down to the two possibilities, and included an extra corner square just to check out how that worked. As you can tell from the top of the post, I went with the brown one! The other one just seemed a bit too washed out.

Tula Pink, again
This time I tried out block 5 - I had a package of coordinating fat quarters, which I wasn't sure what to do with, so I thought they'd work nicely as a small baby quilt using this block. The contrast isn't perfect, but I think the overall effect will be fine - colour is much truer in the above photo than the below one.
I think the key to many of these blocks may be choosing the right fabrics - they may be less suited to my perpetually scrappy style than some are, but it will be fun to play with them. I am hoping to make some small quilts (finished, not just tops!) for the SCBU (special care baby unit) at a local hospital - at the size they need, 24x24 up to about 30x40, I'll be able to do lots of block experimentation...

Tula Pink Bandwagon
I've seen lots of blog posts about the Tula Pink City Sampler and the blocks look like the kind of thing that's just up my alley, though I'm not sure I want to do a sampler quilt.
But I decided the book would be a good investment anyway as I'm likely to want to make loads of the blocks for other purposes...
In this case, Olivia had a mini-jelly roll of red and white fabrics and a fat quarter of cow fabric which she wanted something made from.
So I used block no 1 (might as well start at the beginning) to knock up this little runner, which will be for her dresser, once it's quilted.
