Cross stitch update

After quite a bit of not-much-cross-stitching, I finally got around to finishing the border on the Iris piece

AND the border on the Hope Sheep.  Now to start the project I actually brought to work on while in the US!

Cross stitch update

Moving along on the border - now that I've also finished the little bud lying on the ground next to the dish, all the stitching is done except the border, which is a little slow and frankly, a little boring, but there's not too much left to go on it - I may not finish this before I go to the US (in fact, almost certainly not) - I don't know if I'll take it with me to finish - I might, as I wouldn't even need to take the pattern as I know how the border goes!  And it's only 3 colours of thread...

Cross Stitch Update

A bit more progress on the Irises - you can see I finished the dish and am carrying on working my way around the border. The dish took quite a while - there are a lot of stitches in it - but it's easy to count, so that's ok...

Back to the little Peace Sheep this week, probably finish it. I have to start thinking what project(s) I want to take to the US with me this summer - I want to take something big enough to last, but not too huge - maybe one of my summer themed samplers or something. If I get my act together and look now, I'll be sure to have the right threads for it when I need them...

Cross-stitch update

Good progress this week - I finished all the Iris and stems except a few incidental stitches which I need to go back and pick up.  I even did all the backstitching.  I filled in more of the border (definitely a good idea to do this as I go along as it's quite time consuming), did the Chinese character, and began the dish. I'm definitely liking this one - a more traditional type of pattern than a lot of the samplers I've done recently, but not that tricky - not too many colours at once. This week, back to the Flock piece (the pink fabric) to finish that bird, and then, my first sheep!

Cross stitch update

Not a huge amount of progress this week, but that was expected, as I put the binding on the Splash of Lime quilt (which I will show, completely finished, later) and bound, sleeved and added a label to the Cotton Robin quilt (which I can't show yet, but will do in the fullness of time).

Still, I did get a bit done - teh top two flowers are now totally done, although there's still a leaf that needs finishing at the top of the lefthand one. I now need to work on the leaves below the middle flower. I decded to start doing the inner (black) border and some of the outer border as I go along, to keep it from being a boring finish at the end of the project.  So far, so good.

Cross-stitch update

I haven't done a lot of cross-stitching this week, for various reasons - tiredness, being out for the evening, and so on, but I did manage to finish the coloured parts of the top flower, fill in quite a bit of colour on the second one down and do a fair amount of backstitching on both of them (the top one is finished, except for the leaves).  Hopefully next time this one comes out, I'll be able to really get the leaves sorted.

Cross stitch update

This is my second week on the Irises, and you can see the other two flower heads begin to come into shape - no backstitching this week, as I didn't really finish a suitable area for it - next time, I expect there will be loads to do, though. This coming week, I'll finish off the old fashioned sampler - not much to sew on it - and I have a couple of small things picked out to work on after that...

Cross-stitch update

As mentioned last week, I'm tired of Winter Wonderland and needed to stitch something different and less wintery. Enter these oriental Iris, a kit which I've had for ages. There's another one which goes with it, which is a poppy, I think - perhaps someday I'll get to that one.  in the meantime, I'm stitching up the Iris, and doing some of the backstitching as I go along, just so it's not all hanging over me at the end...
