Baby Quilt

A baby quilt for a friend/colleague of Geoff's - this is one of my favourite quilt patterns - it's the Peaches & Dreams by Judy Laquidara. Such a simple block, but so effective, whether in coordinated fabrics or like this one, scrappy.  I've made it at least three times, maybe more!

This time, didn't quilt it myself - quilted by Lana Dragicevich at Bewitching Stitching.

Start of another baby quilt

This one with an orange/citrus theme - can you tell?

And yet another baby quilt...

This one is for a friend from work, who I haven't seen in ages because of lockdown, but babies won't wait for these things, so she (or he) is going to come anyway...  Last quilt for a while as the next baby on the horizon isn't due until September. Whew!

Another baby quilt

Apparently, baby quilts are like buses: none for ages, then loads come along all at once.  This one is for my nephew and his wife in Australia, who are having a baby boy in July - their first baby. Very exciting!

A pair of baby quilts...

...for a pair of babies - my neighbours were due to have twins in July - identical boys, but the date has been moved forward to this past Friday.  I resisted the temptation to make identical quilts. Partly, I didn't have enough fabric anyway, partly, I don't really go in for that sort of thing.  These were pieced by me, longarm quilted by Lana Dragicevich, who is another neighbour and a mutual friend, then bound by me.

Another baby quilt, quilted

This one was also quilted by Lana; now I just have to attach binding.

Baby quilt, quilted

This top was quilted by my friend Lana, as it's a gift for a mutual friend. I made the top, she quilted it, I'll bind it.

Baby quilt top 2

The other top from the blocks I made the other day. This one and the other one with similar colours are being set aside as gifts. Lots of people I know are having babies this year!

Baby quilt top

Here's the assembled top from the blocks from the other day. This will be put to the side and quilted later. And I'll work on another set of blocks - I actually know of about four babies being born in July that I will want to make quilts for - good to get started in advance...

Finished baby quilt

Not the best photo - the border fabric is a strong reddish orangeish brown.  Too sunny for much contrast, I guess.

Baby quilt, part 1

This was a top which had been hanging around for a while. My mother's neighbour in the US recentyl had a baby, so I thought I'd make a quilt as a gift - they kind of keep an eye on her a bit, which is really nice of them.

Luckily, I have my quilt group this week, so I should be able to get the binding stitched down.

Totebag!

A quick present for Michelle, the teacher I work with - it was her fabric, which we were talking about a while back - she was going to use it for something else, but I didn't think the large design would work for that, so I suggested a tote bag - the labout on it was my gift (I did line it as well, in something different - what the handle is made from. There wasn't enough of the Kaffe Fassett fabric for the handle, too...)

Uniform cushion

One of the few bits of sewing I've done lately is this cushion, made from bits and pieces of old school uniform. It's for the daughter of a friend, who is heading to university in the autumn. I managed to use both primary and secondary uniform, include a badge and a pocket, and even incorporate a bit of PE kit. It will be a fun memento to take to uni with her...

Remake for a friend

A friend of mine partly made this small baby quilt a few years back but never finished it. She now has an occasion to gift the quilt and asked if I'd be able to quilt it up for her (it was partly quilted with some very tiny SITD quilting) and bind it.

As I couldn't remove the previous stitching without damaging the fabric, I just left it and did a little all over loopy meander.

Baby quilts are like buses...

none for ages, then several come along at once.  This one is for a work colleague - this time, making use of a top that's been around for a while.  Quilted simply with a wavy line with loops.

And finally, finished Birdy Baby Quilt

And here's the finished thing - looks sweet, doesn't it!

Birdy quilt - quilted!

Here's the birdy quilt - I showed the top the other day - with the quilting. I quilted simple wavy lines with little clouds.

Birdie Baby Quilt

I've had these blocks for ages - won them from the Block Lotto I don't know how many years ago - and although I used one as the centre of  a mini quilt round robin a while back, I still had a big stack. So, I pulled some out to make a baby quilt top - and here they are pieced together. I actually have about this many more, which is great - they can be another baby quilt at some point.

Quilted with a simply wavy line with clouds.

I'll show it again once I get the binding on...

Better photo of finished quilt!

My friend kindly took a photo of the quilt for me, without a rug in the background. I decided to blog it again, as I get so little sewing on my blog these days - may as well take advantage of it!
