Paradiso Baby Quilt

One thing I don't like about flying geese: all the off-cuts! Night Sky has a tonne of thrm, and while most are tiny, there are a decent number of larger triangles. So I did what any sane quilter would do: turn them into HSTs!

Then turned them into a little baby quilt.

Backed with some leftover Ikea fabric.

And quilted with Aurifil (which is now stocked in the shop).

My only dilemma now is how to bind it, when Paradiso hasn't been released yet!

Night Sky in Paradiso

I'm declaring this my first finish of 2015, even though it's not yet quilted. Baby steps! I dashed outside for a few quick photos this morning before the storms rolled in.

There were definitely moments where I was not loving this quilt; so many flying geese! But now that it is all together I'm pretty darn pleased. I do love pink and blue.

Happy New Year

2015 is on us, and I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. I spent a week in the country, and while I'm happy to be home, I'm not so happy that it's going to be 40C today!

Last year was a bit of a quiet one in the quilting front for me, I just couldn't seem to find the time. Hopefully better luck this year!

First off was a wedding quilt for my lovely friend Bec.

Then another wedding quilt, this time for my friend Stacy who loves in San Francisco. I carried this quilt all the way from Melbourne via New York City, Boston and Chicago!

I used leftover Daydream scraps to make this massive Fresh quilt.

Then dug into Miss Kate to make Cherrio.

I also made a little Moda Love with April Showers.

And started, but haven't yet finished, my Night Sky quilt using Paradiso.

Night Sky in Paradiso

This gorgeous bundle of Paradiso has been sitting by my desk for a few weeks now, while I've contemplated just which pattern will work perfectly with it. I put it to the vote on Instagram and Facebook, and finally decided on Night Sky.

I split the bundle out into its colour-ways.Then decided on which prints for the large stars.

And for the little stars (that lovely stack at the back).

I can't wait to see how it all comes together!

Binding Cheerio

I made the most of being on sick leave and got my Cheerio quilt basted and quilted.

Just need to finish the binding.

My next project which I'm really looking forward to is going to be with Kate Spain's Paradiso. Pink are blue are a winner for me. Then I'll probably head towards Horizon unless something else catches my eye before then.

Bella's Patchwork Goes to Quilt Market 2

There were so many booths, I couldn't possibly take photos of them all. This is a snapshot of some of my highlights.

A little preview of Wildflower Meadow by Melly & Me for Riley Blake.

So many minis by Carrie of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.

A gorgeous fabric display in the Free Spirit booth.

Heather Bailey.

A corner of the Cotton + Steel booth.

A quilt displaying the new fabrics by Amy Butler for Free Spirit.

And into the Moda booth. Gardenvale by Melbourne gal Jen Kingwell. Her line is massive to allow for her signature scrappy look.

Paradiso by Kate Spain. This quilt is definitely on my list.

Aloha Girl from Fig Tree Quilts.

I also managed to collect up lots of little goodies as I wandered around the market. There will be a giveaway coming shortly! In the meantime, Paradiso pre-cuts have arrived and are absolutely gorgeous.
