Let Your Light Shine Through...

Hi guys!
I don't have anything new to show you but here's an old card I made in the summer. As you can see it's watermarked to be a House of Cards DT card but I ended up using something else at the time... But this is a quite pretty card too so I thought it was time to post it!

I've embossed the black chandelier with sticky embossing powder and fine, black glitter. The glittery effect is quite effective IRL -the only downside is that you end up having the glitter everywhere. :)  The two different orange papers are home made too -I've sprayed and sponged them with mists. The square piece is mulberry paper and that responded especially well to spraying the mists, the texture of the paper gives a beautiful finish. I should have embossed the sentiment -it looks too pale compared with the shiny, very black chandelier and black ribbon... Color Inspiration at House of Cards

can you believe it, it's already September, autumn is officially here! House of Cards Challenge starts the fall with this beautiful color palette and as always, the first week of the month is reserved for cute and fun cards! My card is maybe a bit on the edge of shabby and not so fun in a humorous sense but my geisha is definitely super cute! If you are new to House of Cards, this is how the challenge works: We have the same inspiration photo for whole month -so this time it's that beautiful vintage hues pic you see above- and we make cards with different styles every week. Fun and Cute is the first, then comes Clean and Simple, next is Classic and Elegant and the fourth week is for Shabby and Vintage cards. I hope you'll join us in the fun! In my card I've used a LOTV image and Lavanda digi paper from Nicecrane Designs. The paper I chose from the collection is perfect for our challenge colors I think! I colored my geisha with Copics, this was my first ever time coloring black hair and it was quite exciting... This is actually my second finished geisha -I decorated the first finished image with stamped swirls around it and that was a huuuge mistake -I didn't like it at all and ended up tearing up the poor geisha in fury! :) Well, I'm laughing about it now but it sure wasn't funny after hours of coloring practicing and a finished project in the bin. :) Have a fun day everyone!

Anything Goes at Addicted to Stamps and More!

Anything Goes, everyone's favorite, that's our theme this week at Addicted to Stamps and More! I decided to practice on my CAS skills since I think that's my weakest style in card making -mainly because I keep adding stuff and there goes the CAS style! :) ATSM has a sister blog, Addicted to CAS, their theme this week is glitter so I decided that glitter is what I need!

I started with masking the square with post-its, sponging the area with two shades of Distress Inks and giving it a mist of Fuzzy Navel Peach Stardust spray. I keep forgetting that I have these sprays and it's a pity -they give a really beautiful shine! After my square was dry I removed the post-its and stamped the Hero Arts chandelier with black Versafine, embossed it with sticky embossing powder and poured black glitter on top of it when the powder was hot. I think the chandelier looks stunning and the glittery effect is amazing but I can also tell you that I had to vacuum my craft-room afterwards... I ended up having the black glitter everywhere! It was also quite difficult to get the excess glitter out of the card although I had used an embossing buddy before starting, just to warn you off if you want to try the technique. :) To finish off the card I stamped the LOTV sentiment with my two DI:s -it's not completely straight but I decided not to mind. I'm trying to learn how to be merciful with small mistakes. :)

Layer It Up!

Hi dear friends in blogland,
time for new Digi Sketch Challenge! We have a fun theme, "Layer It up" and as always we have a sketch for you too. Time for Addicted To Stamps And More Challenge! Truth being told the time was already 9 hours ago, I'm late with my DT card this week... Sorry about that -some unexpected work related issues came up! We have a really special week at ATSM, the challenge blog is celebrating it's 1st birthday, yay! Congrats ATSM and special thanks to Lovely Kylie who owns the blog and works hard for it. Kylie, you are ace!

This week we want to see projects inspired by the picture above. I remembered my LOTV images when I saw the inspiration pic - I think this image suits well because of the colors, flowers and even a little bee can be found in it! :) This card is really simple, no fancy techniques or anything, like I mentioned before I suddenly got quite busy. However, I like the colors and the image is so beautiful that maybe it doesn't need that much to go with it! Sentiment "Hyvää Juhannusta" means "Happy Midsummer".

Last week was really quiet here at my blog since I was sooo busy with work but right now I'm a girl on Summer Holidays, yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy! :) I'm looking forward to some serious crafting!! I'm starting this week off with a DT-card for Digi Sketch Challenge. We have just begun with a new theme and sketch: the theme is "Star Gazing" -anything to do with stars- and the sketch can be seen below this text. Here's my DT card for the new challenge at Addicted To Stamps And More. This week is an easy one for everyone: our theme is Anything Goes! In my card I used an image from LOTV, I have a full booklet of these floral images, they are stunningly beautiful and you can create cards really fast with them. My May has been an extremely busy month so ready images come in handy at this kind of time! I followed a stepper card tutorial here. I will donate this card to "card raising" for lonely, elderly people -we are trying to collect over 1000 cards to bring joy for senior citizens who live in institutions and don't maybe get too many visitors. I thought happy yellow and beautiful flowers would work fine for the cause!

Tässäpä kukkaiskortti LOTV:n valmiskuvasta, niin kaunis kuva ja mitä parasta, minulla on kokonainen vihko erilaisia kuvia, jee! :) Tämä kortti on DT-korttini käynnissä olevaan KK-luonnoshaasteeseen ja täytyy sanoa, että mallikortin tekijän kannattaisi kyllä tutkia luonnoskuvat paremmin -huomasin vasta nyt, että kulmakoristeeni ovat ihan väärin! Ups. No, ihan sievä vaaleanpunainen unelma tästä kuitenkin tuli.

This floral card is my DT-make for Finnish KK Challenge (site in Finnish and needs registration), it's done by following a sketch. I love this LOTV flower image and the best part is I have a whole stack of them, yay! This was a quick and fun card, quite feminine and girly too. :)

Elämän Tilkkutäkki / Fairy Needle

Tässäpä kortti jota oli tosi hauska tehdä, ihan vain omaksi ilokseni värkkäilin muutama haaste mielessäni! Ihana digileima on Mo Manningin ja uusi ostos, tuhlailin Mo:n kaupassa sievoisen summan tässä yhtenä päivänä. :) Väritys Copiceilla ja vähän Inktensejä lisänä, lannevaatteessa ja siivissä aimo annos Sticklesiä. Feikkiommel on LOTV:n leimasinsetistä, tämäkin on uusi ihastuttava hankinta... Paperit sentään silppulootasta. Hoksasin, että värihaasteet ovat mitä mahtavin tapa saada silput käytettyä -itse en kuuna päivänä olisi keksinyt laittaa näitä värejä yhteen. Leppoisaa lauantaita, kiitos kun käväisit! Ai niin, lupaamani bloginamu tulossa ensi viikolla, luultavasti loppuviikosta, muista käydä sitten kurkkimassa. :)

Here's a card I made just for fun having some challenges in mind. I sooo much enjoyed working with this Mo Manning digi, I just recently bought many Mo images and can't wait to get to use them all. Some are rather Christmassy though so I might have to wait for some months still! Anyway, I did my coloring with Copics and Inktense Pencils (I used the pencils in her hair and in her "shorts" for depth) and added Stickles to those shorts (seriously, I don' know how to call them, sorry!) and her wings. The papers are from my scraps box and the Faux Stich stamp comes from a LOTV set. I realized that color challenges are excellent for using up your scraps -I would have never have had the imagination to use these colors without Color Throwdown! Parhaat Kaverukset / Best Friends Forever

Here it is, my first DT card for Sami Stamps, I'm so excited! Sami has just released beautiful, baby-themed digistamps -head on over to the Sami Stamps blog for checking out all the wonderful DT cards and getting more info of the images! They are really lovely, I'm sure you'll agree. You'll find them also in A Day For Daisies under Sami Stamps. I put together two separate images: My Friend Teddy and Boy And Kitty. The sentiment is a freebie I got with a crafting magazine and the faux stitch stamp is from LOTV. Papers are from my scraps box -boy I'm happy I got rid of some of the tiny paper pieces! I quite like the colors in this, I think they look a bit retro. I did my coloring with Copics and used some Inktense pencils for coloring the hair too. I hope you like my card and want to visit Sami Stamps next! By the way, I'm planning a little spring-candy so stay tuned... It will be a bit different but very fun, I promise! ;)

Hi! I've made maaaany cards this week and it looks like these will be the final two for two different challenges. I have formed an obsession to certain challenges -the ones that I really really like I would not want to miss... I missed last week's challenge at Muse Card Club and I'm happy I now had time to take part again -t's so much fun! This week's muse is Marion Vagg with her colorful card with washi tape. I loved the colors and horizontal stripes but decided to go to for different style, I tried to create a more vintage look. Somebody could say that vintage and bright colors can't go together but I wanted to try anyway! Here's the card:

"Ystävälle" is Finnish language and means "For A Friend". The ballerinas look a bit weird floating there but my original plan, putting flowers in the corner, didn't work any better, I couldn't find flowers that I liked... Well, you can't get it right always can you. :) I'm not super happy with the card but I do like the stripes a lot, thanks Marion for inspiration!

My second card is for Less Is More Challenge, the theme for this week is "Up In The Air". I think the balloon fits to that category... And the bunny looks like he is jumping up to the air as well! I paper pieced the balloon with the same paper that I used for matting. The image is colored with Copics and I also used some white gel pen for the icing of the cake + glitter glue for the cake's wrapping and the flame of the candle.

Onnea Uuteen Kotiin! / Home Sweet Home!

Tässä Eemelin megaringin toinen kortti, aiheena siis uusi koti. Suloistakin suloisempi leimakuva ja kauniit paperit tupsahtivat tästä materiaalikuoresta, kiitos Granne! Granne, jos luet tämän niin voitko olla kiva ja jättää kommenttina tuon tussipaperin nimen, jos vain muistat sen -aivan taivaallista oli värittää. Pakko saada tuota paperia, sopi minun väritystyyliini huipusti. Huomasin nyt kuvaa katsoessani, että minultahan on jäänyt hiiren kädet värittämättä, hups! Täytyy ottaa tussit takaisin esille. :) Koristelumahdollisuutta olisi materiaalien puolesta ollut enemmänkin, mutta tämä menee äitini ystävättärelle, joka ei ole tilpehöörin ystävä -siksi aika minimalistinen linja. Kortin sisäpuolella on vielä paljon koristeita -pinkkiä nauhaa, lisää blingejä ja kuviopaperien loput. Hyvää alkavaa viikonloppua sinulle!

This is my second card in Eemeli's "mega project", the topic is moving house. Cute image, isn't it! I just noticed that I haven't colored the arms of the mouse, uuups! Have to take my Copics out again. :) I kept the design quite simple -this is going for my mum's friend and she doesn't like too much embellishments. I hope you like my card, have a fun weekend!

Tyttövauvalle/ For a baby girl

Kaverilleni syntyy näinä päivinä tyttövauva, jolle tein tämän kortin. LOTV:n nallukka on itsessään jo niin ylisöpö, että otin kohtalaisen iisisti värimaailman kanssa -en halunnut kuorruttaa korttia pelkästään vaaleanpunaisella tai pinkillä, liika on liikaa... Koristeita olisin halunnut laittaa enemmänkin, mutta toistaiseksi runsaiden korttien teko on minulle vaikeaa. Ihailen niitä kyllä jatkuvasti muilla! Ja paperit ovat niin kauniita -sääli peittää niitä. :) Toivottavasti tykkäät ja haluat kirjoittaa minulle kommentin. Viikonloppuja!

Hello everybody!
My friend is having a baby girl any day now and this is the card I made for her. The bear from LOTV is so overly cute on itself that I didn't want to make the card only with pink colored papers -too much cuteness is too much! I would have wanted to add more embellishments though, I just didn't quite know what and where... I admire the rich cards that so many of you card makers make but seem to have trouble covering up the beautiful papers myself! I hope you like the card and want to leave a comment.
