Life is Better When YOU are Laughing--My Darling Niece Julie!

I am entering it into Simon Says Stamp blog anything-goes Wednesday challenge--my fourth for the challenge (I usually can't get it together enough for that many entries--maybe it will finally be my lucky week). A few years ago while we were celebrating Thanksgiving with my family, several of us decided to play disc golf. It was fun seeing Julie get the giggles as she played for the first time (I think). I thought all of her fun poses and faces would make a great layout! I am totally into the latest craze of Polaroid frames! And, I was lucky enough to win the Jillibean collection a while back. The flowers are CTMH; the button, October Afternoon; the twine,The Twinery; the jewels, Pebbles. The green frame on the left was made with an American Crafts die that I also won!!!

Popcorn with Flowers!

I made this little card using the darling Popcorn the Bear stamp from Crafter's Companion where I am entering it in their May flowers challenge. I made the heart in the ear pink as well as used a pink background to fit my friend Stacy's challenge!  The three dots on the ribbon are actually sparkly jewels.  I fussy cut the bear and duck and then pop-dotted them for a little depth.

Thanks for visiting!!!

Another Book -- This time a Baby Girl Book

It seems I am always making books lately. I made this little baby girl book for a Creating Keepsakes challenge to make a mini baby album.  I made it out of one piece of cardstock and then decorated it.  Technically it makes an 8 page book as you can decorate every 6" inch square, but I left two pages "white" with only a small decoration to write some journaling.  I am entering it in my friend Stacy's challenge to use at least two punches or diecuts. I used a butterfly, a flower, the large hexagon and the pocket. I got the jewels from Peachy Cheap.  I'll be entering this in the Simon Says Anything Goes Challenge, too.

Thanks for looking.

Mizzou Campus Tour--2011

As it turns out, Mitch only took one campus tour and applied to only Mizzou!  He has decided it would be good to get his bachelor's degree there and has been accepted into the Honors program.  After he finishes, he will apply to graduate school at either Northwestern or The University of Chicago for his graduate program. At that point, he may be able to get a fellowship!  Anyway, I am just now scrapbooking these photos from last year. I had two extra photos of the business school and Mizzou's AMAZING recreation center. So, I have placed them under some photos with a little pull for each.

I hope you have a great day and weekend!!!

Chocolate Easter Bunny

I made this card for Easter. I'm entering it in the Simon Says Anything Goes challenge!!!

Thanks for visiting! I hope you are having a great week! I got to stay home from school today because I had a flat tire. I think I would have rather gone to school because I would have at least earned a couple of dollars instead of having to replace a whole tire that I just bought in December!!!!! You would know that if I'm going to have a flat tire, it will not be fixable!!!!  It's only money, I guess!

Anyway, I hope you like my little bunny card and that you are having a great day!

Emily and Mitch Again

I made this layout with some Valentine's paper that I got from Doodlebug even though the kids were making Christmas cookies! Hey, what can I say? I loved the papers! I added some ribbon along the photos for my friend Stacy's challenge. Why don't you head over there and make a layout for her challenge. Adding ribbon (she'd love to see some creativity) is the only requirement!! Anyway, the little camera was a stamp from Imaginisce. I added a jewel where the flash is and a brad in the center with a heart!

Have a great day!

Organize Craft Room v. Making a Card

What do you think won in this battle?  I found this little owl and then remembered this sketch from Card Patterns and the challenge from my friend Stacy! It also fits Simon Says Stamp anything goes.  How could I resist?

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a great weekend!

Christmas at Grammie and Poppy's

I made this using the sketch at Frosted Designs: Sketch Along Tuesdays Sketch #31.  We spent Christmas at my mom and dad's house this year!  I wanted to capture some of the decorations in a layout.  The little snowman quilt was made by my sister, and the polar bear hanging on it was made by my mom.  There is nothing better than being home for Christmas!

Thanks for visiting!

Merry Christmas - Crafter's Companion Style

I made this little card using Card Patterns Sketch 141 with a Humphrey's Corner Collection - Birthday Girl stamp from Crafter's Companion.  I decided to use her in this Christmas card.  It fits, too! I colored her with some of the Copics my friend Stacy sent me as well as some CTMH watercolor pencils.  I used the CTMH Art Philosopy Cricut Cartridge which I embossed as well as a Jolee's star and some red Colorbok decorations my friend Lural gave me!  I am "teaching" her some things about card making, and she so kindly brought me some embellishments to return the favor. I think I have her addicted to card making now!!!!

Anyway, I am entering the card in Crafter's Companion challenge as well as Simon Says Stamp challenge and Frosted Designs: Fabulous Friday Embossing Challenge.

Thanks for visiting! If you leave me a message, I'll know you stopped by (I'll come see you, too!)!

Christmas tag

I created these tags for my stamp club for our December trade. We decided to do tags this year instead of cards. I was prompted to get them going today by a Hero Arts challenge as well as the Scrapfit #55 challenge to make a Christmas tag or card as well as Really Reasonable Ribbon's Challenge #35 Christmas Theme. I was rather pleased with how these came out. On the back, I have a fun Fiskars stamp that has a " to: and from: " box in a cool shape. Naturally, when I went to photograph these, I forgot to take a photo of the back. I ran some Ranger distress ink along the edges of the cool tag I found on a fun Cricut cartridge I have. I also pop-dotted the small tree and stippled some darker ink over the stamping on it to make it stand out from the other tree. It is amazing how much time making 12 tags took me. I don't even want to admit how long it took!

On a side note: I had to end up taking a high dose (for me) of prednisone along with an antibiotic for my leg surgery--I had what was probably an infection and excess inflammation. They seem to be doing the trick, but I'm praying that I don't gain weight with the prednisone like I usually do! I'm already as big as I've ever been. I'm going to try to keep hitting the gym as much as possible to help prevent it!

Phoenix - Sisters and First Day of School for Mitch

This is my twin sister and me at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens.  This was our FIRST trip that we have taken with just the two of us since we left home so many years ago that I don't even want to count!!!  I haven't played over at Artful Delight in a while, but I really loved this sketch and had some pictures that I thought would work really well with it!  I'm also entering this at Moxie Fab World's Fabulous Felt! challenge (one of the flowers) and Simon Says Stamp challenge to add bling (to the butterflies).

Oh, and here is a photo of the first day of the last year of high school for Mitch!

Thanks for visiting! Hope you are having a great weekend!

I guess I'm on a Stuart and Leo kick

I made this using a brilliant sketch over at The Sweet Peach Crop Shop.  The photo is so cute, and I thought the sketch went perfectly with it!  The three turtles in a row are a CTMH stamp. I fussy cut them.  Buttons and shaped background are BasicGrey. The other patterned papers are Scenic Route.  The stickers are SRM Stickers.  The green border is a Cricut shape and the border punch is a new one I got from Fiskars! I love it!

I've also entered this in the Moxie Fab World challenge to use borders in an innovative way. I don't know if this is innovative, but I love how the borders work in this layout!

Thanks for visiting!  If you have a moment, please leave a comment so I know you were here! I'll even come visit you!

Have a great day!

Our Wedding

I made this using a PageMaps sketch found at Sketches 4 All for Scrapfit's Only You challenge.  It also fits The Paper Variety's week 33 big screen! challenge.  I really like the movie of the same name: Only You with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

My Niece's Prom from 2010, too! :-)

I made this from a sketch from the The Sweet Peach Crop Shop!  I used Sassafras Las' Sweetly Smitten collection.  I thought the butterflies were a lot of fun on this!  I also entered this on Sketches 4 All.  My friend Stacy sent me the Sweetly Smitten!

My Niece's Prom

I love this Crate Paper collection even though it's an older one--Sweet Branch! I thought the colors were perfect with my niece's dress and her friend's tie!  I got the paper and ribbon from my friend Stacy! Thanks again, Stacy! The only other thing I added were some jewels to the butterfly and big flower!  I used a sketch from The Sweet Peach Crop Shop!

First Day of Spring Break and it's been snowing all day!

So, I got inspired to make this Snowy layout.  You'll have to use your imagination to place these two pages together side by side as I'm technologically ignorant in how to do it! It is based on Scrapbook & Cards Today Project 12 February 2011 sketch for Scrapfit's #39 - Glitter and Glam challenge.  Since our snowman was a girl named "Frenchie" I thought this would be perfect for the challenge.  You can't tell from the photos, but I sprayed the blue background paper with Tattered Angels chalkboard mist in white!  I also added jewels to the snow embellies from Crate Paper!  I did a little sanding and distressing on the papers also.

Hope you are enjoying your day!

Thanks for visiting! I hope you leave a comment. They brighten my day and let me know that you were here!!

Get Well Card and Some Great News

Well, here is a get well card. It is for my mom who has been in the hospital twice now in the last few weeks. She is having some heart problems (first time), and it has been stressful, especially so close to losing Alex (our nephew).  My mom got out of the hospital today after being there since last Wednesday. We're all hoping she won't have to go back anytime soon. They are still trying to get all of her meds regulated properly!  Anyway, I did the card using a new sketch site (to me) called Card Patterns.  It is their Sketch #106, and I did it for the Paper Variety's challenge to make a Get Well card and for Simon Says Stamp's challenge--anything goes.  I wanted to use some bright, cheerful colors.  The butterfly is from Fancy Pants, and much of the rest is from Pebbles!

In other news, my son and his friend got first place in NFL (National Forensics League) districts last weekend AND first place at the 2011 MSHSAA Speech District Tournament this weekend which means they get to compete at Nationals in Dallas, Texas, this summer and at State in April at The University of Missouri--Columbia for their speech and debate duet acting performance!! We are so proud of them! Mitch worked really hard this year in Speech and Debate and had a job as well as taking some tough classes! Yay, Mitch!

San Francisco - Cliff House 2009

I still haven't finished scrapbooking all of our San Francisco 2009 trip! Steve was lucky enough to get to attend a work conference there, and it coincided with our 10 year anniversary! What a great place to celebrate!!! We ate a delicious "early bird" dinner at the Cliff House. It was divine!  I used Sketchy Thursday's sketch to create this three-picture Harmonie layout! I just love this Canadian based scrapbook paper company!  I did a little fussy cutting of the flowers! Can you see that I used some of my hand-made shimmer mist on this layout?  I used some Martha Stewart and Fiskars punched butterfly masks up in the left corner!  I also added some jewels in the corners and in the centers of the flowers!  I also used some distress ink around the background and on the edges of the photos!  We have such great memories of our San Francisco trip! I hope you enjoy looking at this!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a great day!
