Sweethearts in the Moonlight

This is my attempt with the same Crafter's Companion stamp set that my sister used in the last two posts. She stamped off an image for me and mailed it to me. I got it today!  I also added some metallic accents for Stacy's contest using a Faber Castell pen, the ribbon is kind of metallic copper and the paper is from the Natural Stack by DCWV and has a metallic copper grid and stars in it. I thought it made it look like shooting stars... I'm entering it in the CC challenge "something sweet" as well as anything goes for Simon Says Stamp and Show. You can see part of a coffee scoop and a bowl Steve made in the background. I was too lazy to go downstairs to my photo booth!

Well, at least I'm crafting a little bit.

We had an open house (or rather our real estate agent did). It sounded like a few people came through. I know our house has never been cleaner!!! lol

Thanks for visiting! I hope you are having a great weekend!!!

Old Point Loma Light

Point Loma in the San Diego, California, area is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. And, we've seen a lot of places during our travels throughout the United States over the years! I literally had tears in my eyes when we drove along the road that parallels the ocean at Point Loma. I was happy to do this layout which I am entering in Simon Says ,,,,, Anything Goes :-)!!

Thanks so much for visiting! I'd love it if you stopped to say "hello" in the comments!!!

First Job

You know, sometimes you have it, and sometimes, you don't! This is more in the "don't" category.  I don't know why I was so stubborn to keep working on a layout when I was just not "feelin'" it! Well, that's the way it goes sometimes. I just haven't been feeling well this week. Many of you do not know that I have Lupus as well as Sjogren's Syndrome (which is another autoimmune disease), and I also suffer from terrible migraines frequently.  This is why I work part-time as an ESL tutor instead of as a full-time librarian!  Well, this week I have been in a flair. I had a horrible migraine today, but I wanted to take two of my students to a kite making afternoon about 1/2 hour from where we live. So, early this morning I took my Rx, grabbed my "heart pillow" (heating pad) for my neck, slept in my quiet, dark room until it was time to get ready to go.  I did not want to disappoint "the girls."  We did get to go, and the girls got to make some beautiful butterfly kites--taught by a master kite maker from China! It was so fun seeing their enjoyment!!! We also took them out to eat. This was a rare treat for them! So, we really enjoyed the day! I'm still feeling badly, but HAPPY!

Anyway, back to the layout: The Paper Variety had a challenge where you had to scraplift one of their DT members.  I decided to use elements from Tessa's layout! They are the cluster with the heart, star and flower to the lower right of the photo. I also drew a box around the photo as a frame and added some buttons in a couple of clusters.  I also added a scallop to the right of the photo--which Tessa also included in her layout!  I did use paint, but I used it more like the loosely followed Sketch Inspiration's #144 this week.  You can see the sketch in the paint dauber circles and the border strip along the bottom of the photo as well as the little bracketed title "First Job - Gerbes." I also took a little inspiration from a CK layout called First Snowfall by Tina.

Karen and Julie - Thanksgiving 2009

I made this for Sketches 4 All. Mel,  from Australia, gave me that beautiful chipboard flourish. I dabbed it with a copper Adirondack paint dauber! That cute little stamped image with the bird/birdhouse is Stampin' Up! I colored it in with Tombow markers!

Meijer Gardens - Textures and Colors

I made this layout from a sketch by Sassy Lil’ Sketches. Every single one of the rectangles are textured with the exception of the darker yellow which is from a Prima tablet I received from a friend. I had all of these tiny photos of some of Chihuly's sculptures as well as some orchids from the gardens when we visited this June. I thought the sketch was perfect for these photos! If you follow my blog at all, you are probably wondering: "Just how many photos did this girl take at the gardens?" Well, too many I suppose! I'm still not finished scrapbooking them!

Gingerbread Christmas Card

I made this little Christmas card for The Paper Variety's Christmas card challenge! The background is Little Yellow Bicycle! The sentiment and snowflake are from SRM Stickers. I put a little copper Stickles to resemble festive sugar around the white Spellbinder shapes!

Paris - Vintage

Here's a closeup of the felt (fabric) and the crackle-painted chipboard:

Here's my first entry to More Paper Than Shoes.  It's also going into a vintage challenge at Sketches4All. Here is the challenge:
Theme: "Vintage Paris"
Supplies: fabric, a piece of metal, acrylic paint
Surface: ANY
Technique: Crackle
I've got all of the requirements! I thought my card turned out pretty well for someone who isn't that good at vintage!

Unleashed

I made this for Practical Scrappers Friday Sketch. I'm a little late on this since they've already posted the next Friday sketch, but I think I had to the end of the month to finish! I think it fits Andrea's color challenge for July over at PIT also.  It fits Blue Moon, too!

Julie and Her Kittens

Hey, wouldn't you like to scrap-lift this layout to win a prize from Jessica Stott at Lucky Girl Crafts? Go to The XOXO challenge site and choose a LO or two to scrap-lift and you just might win the an awesome kit from Jessica.  Your layouts are due by July 31, 2010.  Don't forget to come back after the contest to vote!  However, *Voting from now on will go a little differently. We will still post a poll on the 1st of every month with the scraplift creations posted for the public to vote on. However, the Lipstick Chicks will be having our own little voting party privately and will get the final say. The winner of the public voting IF different from who the Lipstick Chicks pick, will get an Honorable Mention. This should eliminate any concerns for a popularity contest. Thank you to everyone who has been scraplifting us! We are SO delighted each and every time to see your scraplift creations.
Here is a picture of the prize!
