Prom

I had a lot of fun making this layout. I wanted to add a little elegance and a lot of playfulness which describes Mitch and his girlfriend Meredith so much.  I embossed a lovely, light blue and white paper with a gorgeous embossing folder and then rubbed a darker ink all over it to bring out the embossing. It is meant to go with the flowers in the gorgeous dress. I also used the yellow background for that purpose. I added the black borders to go with Mitch's suit!! I am entering this in Simon Says Anything Goes challenge--love those!!!!! I am also entering it in my friend Stacy's tic tac toe challenge: mist, alphas and buttons....

White Coat Ceremony

I made this it for Simon Says Emboss it challenge this week! I used the gorgeous My Mind's Eye collection Lost and Found: Oliver that I won from them earlier. That gorgeous hexagon paper is embossed beautifully!  All of the patterned paper is nice and thick and very fun to use!!!  The only other product I used wasAmerican Crafts Thickers and one of my favorite Fiskars border punches!

Thanks for looking! I hope you are having a great weekend!

Golden Mantled Ground Squirrel

I am entering this into Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes!  We couldn't get enough of the antics of the Golden Mantled Ground Squirrels in the Rocky Mountain National Park. They remind everyone so much of chipmunks. It is funny how cute squirrels are when they aren't tearing up your own yard! :-)

Picture Perfect - Disc Golf

I love it when Steve and Mitch play together!  Here, I've captured each of them getting ready to throw the disc golf toward the target! They are both so intense!!!!!  I created this using this fun sketch from Page Maps and incorporated borders per the challenge instructions. I added a camera from Amy Tan's collection to qualify for Simon Says Stamp Says Take a Picture Challenge.  I used a bunch of Jillibean Soup and American Crafts for this page but also added a stamped border of some great stamps from Teresa Collins Designs.

I love all of the color in the page and think the arrows are fun for the movement of the game!

Thanks for looking!!!

I hope you are having a great Memorial Day weekend!

Mitchell Exploring Trees with Grammie in 1995

MLS Sketch 0512

Apr_2012_challenge
I made this layout using My Little Shoebox's sketch for NSD.  I used two of their collections to make this layout-don't ask me right now which--I just grabbed the ones that seemed to fit the photos.  I also decided to incorporate the color challenge at SCT

I guess I am getting really nostalgic because I went back to my older photos for NSD.  I guess it is because Mitch graduates from high school in two weeks--the day after my birthday!!!

Happy Together -- UPDATED 3/9

I decided something was missing. So, I added the Prima flower and moved the happy up closer to the border. Do you think it is an improvement???

I made this layout of Emily and Mitch just happy to be together! I used all Close to My Heart except the letters which are Thickers and the lace.  Well, and I rubbed some gold Adirondack Paint Daubers on the pieces I cut from the CTMH Art Philosopy Cricut cartridge which is totally amazing!!!!  I made it using Artful Delight's beautiful sketch.  Have you checked out LeeAnne's kits? She and her team have such a knack at picking out great kits!!!

10 Reasons that Mitchell Makes me Happy

I made this layout using numbers for Scrapbook Circle's and Sweet Peach Crop Shop's number challenges using a sketch I found at My Scraps and More!  It is now hanging on my refrigerator to let my teenager know that I do love him and see the good things about him even though I have "rules" and seem to get on his case from time to time!  I have quite the hodge podge of manufacturer's on this page including American Crafts, Autumn Leaves, Basic Grey, Collage Press, Kaiser, My Mind's Eye, October Afternoon and more!

Thanks for visiting! It makes my day!  Hope you are having a great day!

A Walk in Phoenix

My twin sister and I had so much fun in Phoenix that I went a little wild in printing photos! Here are a couple of photos of us on our walk around downtown Phoenix--it was really near our hotel, in fact! I used Sketch Inspiration's Sketch #237 to make this layout for The Paper Variety's My Favorite Embellishment challenge! I think you can tell that I chose buttons! I think there are 20 buttons on this one! I don't know if buttons are my favorite because I hate to leave the other embellishments out...but I do use them a lot and love them!!!!

Thanks for visiting! I hope you have a great week!

If you are anywhere near St. Charles, Missouri, this weekend, come out and see us at MOSAICS--(Missouri Festival For the Arts)! I understand there will be over 100 juried artists there!!!

The Cat in the Hat -- Getting a Little Wild with my Papers

I was a little out of my comfort zone in working with such wild papers, but they fit The Paper Variety's challenge to use a favorite photo! I'm also entering it in a sketch challenge from my friend Stacy! The photo is one of my favorite pictures of the school year--not because the photo is so good but because of what it represents. Mitch and his friend Adam were getting ready to perform their interpretation of The Cat in the Hat in front of the WHOLE school!!!!! It is pretty much the only photo I got of the performance. And, you know, I didn't get a video of it either! They worked so hard all year and even made it to Nationals with the piece. I picked this wild and crazy paper because of the sheer amount of energy and action these guys put into their performance. They. never. skipped. a. beat! They had to change voices and actions constantly! I was really proud of the effort, and it was hilarious! Plus, The Cat in the Hat is pretty wild anyway if you think about it--so the paper fits there, too! It is rare for the Speech and Debate team to be showcased in front of the school! Word was definitely out around school at how great the performance was, and one of Mitch's teachers made sure this made it to a school assembly!! Yay! I hope they find as good of a piece this year and win at Nationals!!!!

Phoenix - Sisters and First Day of School for Mitch

This is my twin sister and me at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens.  This was our FIRST trip that we have taken with just the two of us since we left home so many years ago that I don't even want to count!!!  I haven't played over at Artful Delight in a while, but I really loved this sketch and had some pictures that I thought would work really well with it!  I'm also entering this at Moxie Fab World's Fabulous Felt! challenge (one of the flowers) and Simon Says Stamp challenge to add bling (to the butterflies).

Oh, and here is a photo of the first day of the last year of high school for Mitch!

Thanks for visiting! Hope you are having a great weekend!

Stuart and Leo - Easter

Here's a little layout of Stuart and Leo at Easter!  I wasn't there, but I enjoyed looking at the photos so much!  I did a little embossing on the background cardstock. This isn't exactly like I pictured in my mind, but I did like the bright colors for this... I used a sketch from Frosted Designs as you can see!

The metal pieces from Making Memories say "Discover" and "Oh Snap" which I thought went with the photos pretty well... The blue background was cut with the Cricut using Elegant Edges.

Thanks for visiting! Have a great day!

Embarrassing Photos Show What Kind of Friendship We Have

I used Crate Paper's sketch to make this!
All is Crate Paper except for the Thickers letters, the ink which is SEI (I inked up some punched images for the butterflies), and the trim. I also used an EK Success border punch!

Thanks for visiting!

Ginny's 60th Birthday with Steve

I created this layout showing a table and bowl that Steve made for his mom for her 60th birthday last year!  I used the lovely #117 sketch from Liz Chidester over at The Scrappiest!  The "You are Special" tag came from a box of chipboard I had.

Holland, Michigan-Statues (Summer 2010)

I made this layout for the Moxie Fab World Challenge: The Appearance of Cameos.  Most people enter cards for these challenges, but I can't help but see what I can do on a layout!  I still have so many photos left to scrapbook from our June, 2010 trip to Michigan this summer! We are buried under 18" (with mountains of snow piles in the yard)! So, the summery colors made me happy! Of course, the silhouette cameo goes really well with all of the statues!!  The cameo and frame are from Glitz Designs! The papers are from My Mind's Eye! And, of course, the letters are Thickers!

Opening Mitchell's Snowman -- 2009 Christmas

My son made this snowman for his Grandma Massman for Christmas last year! I scraplifted Leanne from Artful Delight for Sketches 4 All.  I also misted on the paper and included a sequin for Christy's bling challenge.  The paper is CTMH.  The ribbon is Crate Paper, but it was made to match (it seems)! I made my own shimmery mist and used some punched snowflakes for the masks!  I'm entering this into Really Reasonable Ribbon's Challenge #15 is a 'Something New Plus Ribbon' Theme.  The new is the Crate Paper snowflake which I've made into a brad with Stampin' Up brad maker.  Also, the hand-made shimmery is new as well as the Crate Paper ribbon (well, it's new to me anyway)!  Thanks for the fun challenge!

Holland, Michigan- Music Statues

I made this layout of Mitch and Steve in Holland, Michigan, while we were there on our summer vacation this year.  The statues were all over the town.  They are playing music here. Real music came from speakers on this one.  I made this from a sketch by Julie Bonner. The Sassasfras Las came from my friend Stacy HW.
