We are thrilled beyond thrilled to finally represent *the* lady of burlesque Dita Von Teese at Faire Frou Frou!  After much anticipation, and what marks the perfect partnership, the vintage-inspired lingerie brand Von Follies by Dita Von Teese is finally available for purchase at our boutique.  We are big fans of Dita and adore her style, and proudly carry the collection of lingerie that is the hands-on result of her modern interpretation of vintage intimates.  According to the Von Follies team "the range combines sophistication and sensuality with glamorous touches such as grosgrain and velvet ribbons, delicate eyelash lace, and control mesh to give the essence of the sultry 1950's pin up girl".
We are rolling out new collections every month or so at our boutique.  The first to make their Los Angeles "brick & mortar" store debut are Her Sexellency and Leading Lady.  Our favorite Madame X group arrives in September, and then plenty more AMAZING styles that haven't yet been released to the public are arriving through early 2014!  Trust us, if you like what you see here it gets even better for Winter 2014 (ie Her Sexellency coming out with more style options and also coming out in red!).

Since pretty much all of the USA will have Monday off for 4th of July, we wanted to create a little inspiration post for the occasion.  We will be donning red, white & blue and doing some activity that requires a bikini (beach, pool party...just hangin' out with friends...we're still figuring that out).  The collage above is how the frou-frou gal celebrates this holiday; with a nautical touch and definitely red lipstick!

You can imagine our excitement when we came across these beautiful pictures of Dita von Teese from Madison Magazine.  There's plenty of vintage lingerie goodness and some darling dresses that you just know pretty underpinnings are hidden beneath!  In the last image Dita is wearing a corset & panties from Wheels & Dollbaby which is the most adorable vintage-inspired online store we love to visit (when not shopping fairefroufrou.com, of course!).

For so many burlesque performers one of the essential components some of the most fascinating routines includes the use of ostrich feathers.  What is it about the ostrich feather that is so enticing?  Perhaps it is its historical association with power, heraldry and aristocracy.  It certainly represents decadence and creates an immediate sense of glamour.  Perhaps this is what Sally Rand had in mind when she performed her famous burlesque numbers in the 1930s; therefore making ostrich feathers a must for so many performers who would follow in her footsteps.

Since we're practically the unofficial Dita von Teese blog (we wish!) these images from Plastic Dreams magazine had to be posted! Dita is the cover girl for the latest issue of Plastic Dreams which is a publication for the eco-friendly Brazilian shoe company Melissa. Dita is modeling PVC shoes in each picture, but the costumes and the circus theme actually have us looking at anything but! However, these aren't just any plastic shoes because Melissa collaborated with top designers such as Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier for their latest collection. The Vivienne Westwood "Lady & Dragon" heel has actually gotten a lot of attention (or we've seen it several times over the past year), and we're guessing that with Dita as the latest cover girl these shoes will become even more popular.
If an eco-friendly plastic stiletto is on your wish-list, then your best bet is to look here.

Dita von Teese strikes a pose in yet another unforgettable spread by Ellen von Unwerth, this time for the 25th Anniversary issue of Max Italy magazine (March 2010). We love that these pictures combine our two favorite topics, Dita and amazing lingerie by favorites such as Fifi Chachnil, Cadolle and Cervin. We were also excited to see the Cadolle bra & panty set that we sell at Faire Frou Frou! To top it off, Ellen von Unwerth has the most amazing flair with the camera, so the pictures are filled with energy, seduction and sass.

True, this blog is dedicated to luxury lingerie...but it's also unofficially dedicated to the style of burlesque superstar Dita von Teese. We can never resist a post about Dita, especially when it involves a gorgeous editorial spread in Harper's Bazaar (Russia). The only lingerie in this shoot is the bra she designed for Wonderbra, and of course the sexy stockings. The John Paul Gaultier bodysuit/dress has a definite lingerie appeal, but we're not entirely sure what to call it. Nonetheless, the results are striking and beautiful. Don't you just love the Christian Lacroix images!

Dita Striptease

Dita von Teese is queen of the modern striptease, and if you haven't seen her perform, now is your chance! With the arrival of Dita's latest book entitled Dita: Striptease, you now have a chance to see her signature moves via 3 flipbooks! Yes, flipbooks...how clever!

Dita collaborated with photographer Sheryl Nields to create the beautiful images that so skillfully show Dita at her finest.
As you see from the adorable video above, each sensual movement is caught on camera to give you a step-by-step to the art of the 'tease. You really get an appreciation for what an art form it is, and how much talent it takes to come off so poised and elegant. Trust us, it's a lot of work that only looks easy because it's done by such a pro.
