flutterby

I am just not good at this 'resting the arm' thing. I'm really trying. But the more frustrated I get the more I find excuses to use it. So I was bad. I tried to paint the day before. See if I only move my wrist and elbow it feels ok. The tendonitis is in my shoulder and upper bicep. But then I would forget and stretch it a little this way and that way. By evening it didn't feel so great again. I know I know. My husband already yelled at me. So I thought I wouuld just show you what I was working on.

I'm not quite sure what she's going to be yet when she's all done but it just felt good to get back to playing with a paint brush again.

I even played around with adding these letters. What do you think? Words or no words? The canvas is 11x14. I might even put her in my Etsy shop for the holidays. But I'll just leave it for now and get back to the resting thing. And I figured since I was being bad I might as well not stop here. Hee-hee.

amelia's rainy day

Hello dearies! I woke up this morning to the first November rain. I dreamt of new rainboots and a green stripey umbrella. This little doodle came out while I watched the rain through the kitchen window. My good arm feels better now that I put it in a sling and I've been resting it.

I thought Amelia might enjoy playing with the butterflies. I made a quick digi collage with my other hand which is doing pretty well so far.

Happy Sunday!

never too late

When anyone tells you
'You can't or You shouldn't'

daydreaming in tomatoland

Well I've thoroughly changed things around here and I think that's part of what I was looking for. A change.

The doodle and daydreams theme surprisingly proved to be very enlightening. I've  been trying to figure out what my creative 'thing' is. I have a bad habit of comparing my work to other people's work. Usually people I really admire. Then I start to feel doubtful. Inadequate. Insecure. Uninspired. And it all goes down from there.

I like to craft and make sweet pretty things. But only every now and then. I don't think I'm sweet enough and sometimes I start to feel lace overload. I've done mixed media collage and lately I've tried to push myself to learn new techniques. I think I'll gain more confidence as I go along.

What I really like is Photoshop! Taking pictures, editing them and telling a story. And I like to doodle and create graphics in Photoshop. So for now I'm going to follow what I like. Doodling and daydreaming.

You can see the doodle part everywhere and here is a bit of daydreaming. I've had it tucked away in my blog for a while so I thought I might share it now. You can find it here.

Hint: Turn your volume up just a smidge.

doodles from tomatoland

More doodles and another banner change. Woke up feeling very odd this morning. Not in the best mood so I went for a walk with Miss V. I felt better but still had the urge to fall into a rabbit hole. And stay there. I finished my rosey cupcake doodle from last night then started drawing what started as Alice. Falling. It's not quite Alice. But maybe it's sort of me. Anywhoo...there they are on my new banner. I still feel odd. Not in the good way that I like being odd. But in a strange way like I'm searching for something. Will have to figure it out.

P.S. Where the heck is Tomato Land you ask? Here in the capital city of California we are known as The City of Trees (second only to Paris we're told) and also as The River City. But we locals fondly call our city Sacratomato and they really do grow tons of tomatos here. So hellooo from Sacratomato California. Tomato Land!

random phone picture monday post

About a month ago I snapped this pic during a morning walk with my friend.
All the trees where just starting to bloom and this particular
street had an entire row of these pretty 'pink trees'.

BLOOM

It's a silly sounding word if you think about it.

bloom...bloom...bloom

Silly in a funny happy way.

It even looks silly sometimes.

I dare you to say it 3 times fast!

Now say it over and over today when you need a silly break

and see what blooms around you.

May whatever inspires you bloom this week!

happy monday dearies

Yes Nina you can visit my blog today too.

(My freehand doodle and a little Photoshop fun)

pink saturday doodles

Here's another one of my little doodles.
Tasha Begonia stopped by with her pink cupcake to wish
everyone a Happy Pink Saturday!

I found this pink teapot in one of my old boxes.
I had forgotten all about it! The mini tea cup and saucer
was this week's thrifty find for 2.98

And that's another Begonia girl doodle in the
background waiting to be scanned.

Now go and get yourself a nice pink cupcake today!

Thank you again to our hostess Beverly

Stop by her place for more pink loverlies!

doodle bug

I got the doodle bug early yesterday morning while warming up my cup of hot chocolate. I've been doing a little bit of drawing lately. Just practicing really. I can't say I'm a drawer, more of a doodleler but every now and then I'm inspired to give it a try. This is my Ella Begonia doodle. She's part of a group I've been working on. I really ended up liking her alot and you can see she inspired me to change my banner. (I seem to follow the same pattern....doodle...change banner....doodle....change banner). After that I thought I'd try a different background too. I found this one at Itkupilli. I've been in an artsy sort of mood ....so maybe that's how I got the doodle bug! Well back to making more stuff for the faire. Have a nice week everyone!

anna banana

I sat down to watch the Olympics last night but since there wasn't any Figure Skating on I found I wasn't paying as much attention. I started doodleling and came up with this simple little drawing. I liked her so much I was inspired to redo my blog. So here it is! A new title (formerly Cupcake Alchemy) and new look. I named her Petunia first, a character I created when my son was still young. Then I thought she looks alot like me and when your name is Anna you're inevitably called Anna Banana. I thought I would just embrace it, what the heck and here she is, Anna Banana the cupcake queen. Ready and waiting for her next creative adventure.
