Baby Swing Card - Magnolia-licious Challenge # 8

Happy Tuesday!

It's the 4th Tuesday of the month, so it's time for a new challenge at Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog. This one is our Inspiration Challenge for February. Here's my DT card ...

Tracy is our host for February and she has picked out this picture to inspire you to create something--a card or some other crafty things--and something Magnolia-licious, of course...LOL.

I've been wanting to make a swing card--or some people call this a flip card--for the longest time. I've been putting it off because all the tutorials and templates I could find on the internet are for cards that are on the small size. As I like my cards to be 6" x 6", I knew I had to figure out the measurements for it myself and make my own template. Well, woo hoo...I finally did it! I've included the template at the bottom of this posting for anybody who's interested.

This is how a swing card works. The card has a centre panel that swings--that's why they call it a swing card...duh. LOL. You have your image on the front of the panel...

... then when you swing the panel around/flip it over, on the other side you usually have your sentiments placed here. But in my case, I've chosen to have another image here instead.

This is Sleeping Baby Tingla from the Magnolia's Autumn Collection 2010. The image on the front of the card is Tilda with Baby Tingla from the Magnolia's Fall Stamp 2007 Collection. Both of these 2 adorable images are available from Magnolia licious online store. And don't forget to check out the latest release of some Butterfly Dreams Collection images to get you ready for Spring--it's just around the corner, isn't it? Please...

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Crafts and Me Challenges - Time to spread your wings.
7 Kids College Fund Challenge # 15 - Square cards (folds up into a square card).
Truly Scrumptious Challenge 51 - Swirls and Pearls.
Simon Says Stamps! Challenges - Make your own embellishment (my flowers are handmade).
Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge # 122 - Fancy folds.
Just Magnolia hAnglar & sTanglar Challenge - Week 94 - Love you (precious baby love).
Creative Inspirations - Challenge 53 - Distress (used Tim Holtz distress ink stamp pad vintage Photo to distress my paper edges, the ink type not the torn paper kind).

That's all folks! Make sure you check out the cards and projects of the other DT ladies--OMG, they are FAB-U-LOUS! Check them out here, at the Magnolia-liciuos Challenge Blog and get some inspirations from the projects they've made. Then create something yourself and join our challenge.

Thanks for dropping by. Appreciate your visit. Enjoy your week!
Stamps: Tilda with Baby Tingla from Magnolia's Fall Stamps 2007, Sleeping Baby Tingla from the Magnolia's Autumn Collection 2010. The sentiments are computer generated.
DP's: 3 papers from Hot Off the Press Paper Pizazz Sheets Jacie's Vintage Papers.

Tools: Martha Stewart edge punch Daisy Dot, Coluzzle Oval template, Marianne Design Creatables RL0116 Swirls, Magnolia Doohickey die Leaf, EK Success Retro Flower punches medium and small.

Misc.: Recollections pearl stickers, Tim Holtz distress ink pads Vintage Photo and Weathered Wood, Martha Stewart Crystal fine glitter.

Medium: markers and coloured pencils--sorry I don't have the numbers. I was working on colouring a few images at the same time and the markers and pencils were all over my table and got all mixed up.

So, for those of you who are interested making a swing card (or flip card), this particular template I've drawn up is for a 6 inches x 6 inches card. For any other sizes, there are tutorials and templates for them on the internet, so...what else--just google it!
Have fun!

Baby Card in a Box (Gift Box)

Hello! Happy midweek!

I have made something different than just a card this time.

I found this scrapbooking book at our library--don't you just libraries?…all those free books to look through. It's titled "Outstanding Mini Albums: 50 Ideas For Creating Mini Scrapbooks" by Jessica Acs. One of her projects is this box that she had made and turned into sort of a mini scrapbook. Inside the box, she had made pockets for the 4 sides and you can slip your photos inside the pockets. It's a really neat idea! I took her project and made my own version of a card-in-a-box. Not sure what Jessica’s dimensions are, but I had to make the sides of my box large enough to accommodate the In2stamps images which are between 3 – 4 inches. So the box is a 4-inch cube, made out of a single 12”x12” cardstock.

On the outside, the box looks like this.

And you have your card in the inside when you take off the lid.

I have used three images from the In2stamps Baby Collection. This first one is called Angel Boy.

This second image is called Flower Girl. I confess! I couldn't decide which gender of baby I should make this for.

And this third image is called Caterpillar Kisses.

I could have used another image for the 4th side, but I decided to make this a blank space to write personal messages instead.

You can leave this card simply as a card-in-a-box, but the box is also big enough to double as a gift box. So you can put a little present inside.

To make it easier when closing the box, I used a couple of those fancy paper clips to hold the sides together.

I am using this project to enter a couple of challenges:

Creative Inspirations Challenge 33 - Congratulations
Fun with Shapes and More Challenge 52 - Pastel Inks

Oh, one more thing...I have no idea how you're supposed to mail this out...LOL. I think I would probably make this if I was sure I can hand-deliver it.

Stamps: From In2stamps Baby Collection (which can be purchased from their on-line store here).
Designer Papers: K & Company Garden Medley Stripe Printed Embossed Paper, from Chatterbox Scrapbook Walls Collection: Sky Cottage, Sky Cottage Plaid and Rosey Cottage.
Tools: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Three.

Here I Come! - In2stamps March Challenge

Hello! Happy March!

This is the beginning of a new month and it's a new monthly challenge at In2stamps. The for theme for the March Challenge is easel card.

I have made use of this sketch Domi that she has created for Lili of the Valley. Thanks, Domi.

The In2stamps adorable image that I have used is called 'Here I Come!' from their Baby Collection. You can purchase it directly from the In2stamps on-line store where you can also find links to other retail stores.

I am also challenging myself with ABC Challenge of O is for one paper (that does mean one designer paper, right?--not counting card stock?) .

When I first saw the Happy New Year card that Marion (Only by His Grace) has made and I so like her flower-and-leave arrangement, I knew that I was going to totally case it sooner or later. Okay, okay...it's only more or less similar to hers, but I'm okay with it. Thanks so much, Marion.

If you would like to participate in the challenge, you can find all the details at the In2stamps Challenges blog. The prize is any three (3) In2Stamps images of your choice and the complete Basic Grey Collection Origins 6" x 6" papers (oooh, I like those papers--have to get some for myself!). Also check out the wonderful creations of the other DT members there.

That's all for today. Have a wonderful day. Thank you so much for visiting. And for those of you who leaves me a comment that make my day, a double thank you.

Stamps: In2stamps Here I Come! from the Baby Collection, 'Welcome to the world little one' sentiment from Studio G Collete Hall Design Series 24.
DP: Cloud 9 Design Baby Girl Chitchat.
Tools: Martha Stewart border punch lattice, Colluzle oval template, Provo Craft decorative scissor.
Misc: Mark Richards cabochons light pink, Recollections pearls.

Caterpillar Kisses

Happy Sunday and Happy Valentine's Day.

I have a baby card today instead of a Valentine card, but I did sneak in a few hearts on the card...hee hee. I actually made the card 1 1/2 - 2 weeks ago, but oops, am just posting it now.

In making this card, I have followed this sketch which Sketch and Stash Challenge Blog has provided for their Challenge #28.

My new stash is the new stamp from the In2Stamps Baby Collection called 'Carterpillar Kisses' which can be purchased from In2stamps on-line store.

This is also my entry to Stamp Something challenge -- Something Cute.

The first time I saw this image I knew what I was going to do with those cabbage leaves. They just cried out for me to do a 3D decoupage (paper tole) card.

I've curved up all the leaves so that the paper stock isn't completely flat and the entire cabbage is so more rounded. Hmm...I don't think you can really tell from these pictures though.

Sorry that I've been MIA for a while, for visiting blogs, commenting and answering e-mails. I'm working/volunteering with the 2010 Olympics Winter Games so have been concentrating on that. Hmm...or maybe I should call it the Olympics Spring Games, LOL. Mother Nature sure isn't cooperating with us. But at least in my opinion the opening ceremony was spectacular. If you watched it, I hope you enjoyed it.

Enjoy your day! And thanks for visiting.

Stamp: In2stamps Caterplillar Kisses from the Baby Collection.
DP's: Provo 12x12 Kitchen Retro Squares GLTR, Provo 12x12 Whimsey Heart Flower GLTR .
Tools: Martha Stewart border punch, Coluzzle circle template.
Misc.: Recollections Autumn pearls.

Congrats - Sweet Baby Girl

Hello everyone!

Boy, the weekend went by so fast. Too fast! The next one is going to be a long weekend and I am already so looking forward to that one.

I have created this card for a co-worker at the office who just gave birth to a baby girl--beside making the card for the challenges that is, LOL.

For Kellie's Sketch Challenge #2, Kellie has provided this wonderful sketch which I used for the layout of my card.

This card is also for the Cute Card Thursday challenge. Challenge 75 - New Beginnings! This week we want to see your cards for new things in your life/those you love...new baby, new home, new car, new job...whatever new beginning you like.

A third challenge, somewhat similar, is from Stampin' for the Weekend Challenge Blog. The theme for their Challenge 13 - Anything Baby goes!!

And I'm sneaking my card into a fourth challenge at Creative Inspirations Challenge Blog. Their theme is STITCHING. I've sewn real stitches with my sewing machine, and also did some faux stitches around the edge of the circle.

I haven't done too many card with the opening at the bottom --my usual is at the side--but I have done it with this one.

And I've decorated the inside of the card leaving plenty of blank space for the office crew to write their good wishes and sign their names.

Stamps: Magnolia Tilda with Baby, Congrats sentiment from Hampton Arts G Studio, Recollections clear stamps Sweet Baby Girl.

DP's: Chatterbox Scrapbook Walls Rosey Flowering Vine and Loft Bias Plaid. Tools: EK Success border punch and corner punch, Marvy Uchida scallop circle punch, McGill flower punch.

Congrats - Baby

Happy Good Friday!

This card is for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge, their #6 challenge is set by Kristy's theme: A Baby is Born. Boy, this one was a real challenge to do. I had a mental block there for a while. That's why I'm so late with this entry. I think I now have a brain sprain--LOL. I have no baby Alvin or Tingla in my stamp collection, so no obvious Magnolia stamp to use here. I decided to use Tilda Standing with Hair Bow for no particular reason except that I haven't use this before, so might as well be now. To make this card a baby card, I had to use other stamps that have a baby theme to them--don't have too many of them either.

Re colour, this was going to be the 2nd card for my B&W plus... colletion, so I had one colour to choose. Instead of the obvious pink for a girl or blue for a boy, I went with yellow for either or. Hope you like this card.

I have this punch for a baby suit (don't know what you call it). Bought it a long time ago at a clearance sale and at the time I had no idea of when I was going to have a use for it. Isn't it just the cutest thing?

Have a Happy Easter everyone and a wonderful weekend too!

Stamps: Magnolia #209 Tilda Standing with Hair Bow, Autumn Leaves AL3180 Block Stamps 1, Studio G clear stamps
DP: Chatterbox Eclectique Sunny
Punches: Martha Stewart border punches, EK Success (baby clothes)
