Feeling a little 'blue' ...

Time to share another canvas.

Now I have to say, this is my most favourite canvas out of the ones that I have been making of late, only just ... but I love the blue's on this canvas.

I truly believe that we don't see enough of the colour blue in creativity around the world.

Perhaps something for the manufacturers to ponder over.

Materials used :

Royal Baby Collection : C70 008 Swirl, FabScraps metal trinkets

I have used a flat 8x10 inch white canvas.
Scrape gesso over the whole canvas and wait patiently to dry – or cheat like I do and use your heat gun.
Spray with mist and dry.
Use a little adhesive mesh and randomly apply over the canvas.
Grab a mask and some gesso and randomly apply over the canvas.
I have cut some lace and adhered to canvas.
I have cut strips and torn smaller pieces of FabScraps patterned paper C70 008 – Swirl and adhered with some gesso both under and over the papers – applied randomly.
Mix a little paint with some gesso and apply over mask in random places and dry.  I have used a mixture of three paints.
When dry, use a stamp and ink and randomly apply – I’ve used an acrylic stamp with a big brush ink pen – black ink.

This is what my canvas looks like - mid creation.

Apply rub on.
Add a little twine for a little more colour.
Add a layer of muslin [cheesecloth].
I have then added a piece of corrugated cardboard from my FabScraps box for a little height and then adhered my floral cluster.
Glue down metal butterflies.  Add a coat of gesso with a paint brush and then randomly paint on a little paint that you have already used on your canvas.
Using some of the blue paint on my brush dab on top of the papers, not much, just a little.
Clean brush and then using just a little white gesso, randomly apply on leaves.

A couple of close ups ... [was always going to happen] ...

Look at the blue on that butterfly ... ooh la la ...

and again, in its entirety ...

And this canvas has already been gifted to a friend

Happy creating everyone.

P.S.  the gesso - is a wonderful 13 Arts product and it can be found in the Flying Unicorn store, so too the 'blue' mist - also a 13 Arts product and you know where you can find it ... in the Flying Unicorn store - that gorgeous piece of lace is  left over in one of the Flying Unicorn's monthly kits.

A little pink ... perhaps a little grey ...

You've already seen the pink version ...

This time, the flower is grey ...

A few more would make a lovely set and a fabulous gift for someone.

Pop in some envelopes and some stamps and I'm sure the gift would be appreciated even more.

Happy creating everyone.

Elegant Chic

Another new release from FabScraps ... I've shared a few creations of late using their gorgeous papers.

Now it's time to share a layout ... don't fall off your chairs now ... I enjoy creating layouts from time to time, but lately I've been making more cards and off the page projects than layouts.

Materials used :
Pink Elegance C71 001, Shabby Flowers C71 006, Flying Bird C71 006, Fleur C71 007, Honeycomb C71 008, C71 collection die cuts, metal embellishment

Yes, they are all FabScraps papers ...

So what have I done ...

This layout is 12x12

Cut 5x12 Pink Elegance C71 001
Cut 7x12 Fleur C71 007
Join with double sided tape and cover tape with lace to join both papers together
Layer with a torn page from a dictionary
Layer a piece of white cardstock
Cut a 4 inch square from Shabby Flowers C71 005
For a little depth [height] use a piece of corrugated cardboard from your packaging under this piece of paper before you adhere it
Adhere photo
Cut die cut from Elegant Chic die cuts and adhere to bottom edge of photo
Glue under another piece of lace and tuck in a wee flower on the left hand side edge
Put together an embellishment cluster - I have used four different metal dies in my Cuttlebug, a little raffia, a little muslin [cheesecloth], some flowers and a gorgeous FabScraps butterfly.  I popped a wee brad through the butterfly.
I've cut three wee triangles, lifted the pointed corner, adhered and used three alpha stickers for the 'you'
Using a paintbrush and some gesso, I have randomly applied around the edges of the layout and applied a little to the embellishment cluster and paper edges as well.

now it's time to share a close up or two ...

and so you can that filigree butterfly ...

and just one more ...

to show the filmstrip a little closer

Happy creating everyone.

Elegant Chic ...

Another gorgeous collection from the team at FabScraps - look at these stunning papers from their 'Elegant Chic' range.

ooh la la ... truly ...

Here's how I put this card together.

White cardstock cut 5” x 10” and scored in half.
Cut one 5” x 5” paper from the Pink Elegance C71 001 paper, lightly distress edges.
Cut another square slightly smaller from the same Pink Elegance C71 001 paper, lightly distress edges - this time though you are using the reverse side of the paper.
Adhere to larger background paper.
Cut a two panel piece of the reverse side of the same paper, cut to the same width as the top layer of the paper on your card. Lightly distress before you adhere.
Cut a piece of lace the same width and adhere on the skinny strip of paper.
Now cut yet another very skinny piece of the same paper, flip over, distress a little and adhere.
Have  look at the card and you will see exactly what I mean.

Now embellish.
Two leaves adhered to right hand side of card.
I have used a small piece of corrugated cardboard for height. And then adhered a little cheesecloth [muslin] and then adhered a couple of strands of white pearls and then on the top added my white flower.
Glue down a metal butterfly.
My sentiment ‘for you’ is made with tiny alphas stickers.
I have adhered three strips of pink crystal bling.
Then I grabbed the gesso tub and a paint brush and randomly applied gesso over my embellishment cluster, my butterfly, bling and around the edge of my card.

Happy creating everyone.

P.S. now what would look better than one card, would be a set of three or four cards, very similar to this one, with envelopes, tied with a ribbon and gifted to my mother-in-law

Before I go ...  wee close up.

and again, in its entirety.

Hot pink anyone ...

I'm loving making canvases at the moment and with friends birthday's and Christmas just around the corner ... many of them will be leaving home as gifts.

Using some of the gorgeous papers in FabScraps Elegant Chic collection and some of their fabulous metal embellishments I started playing, oops, creating.

I teamed them up with some fabulous Petaloo Botanica flowers and some awesome Shimmerz Paints - pink stilettos Coloringz ... loving this stuff, seriously.

And voila.

So here is what I did :

I've applied 13Arts  acrylic primer all over the canvas, once dry, then sprayed with Shimerz Colorings [pink stilettos] and dribbled down the canvas and dried. Add a little sticky mesh tape with some more gesso, lift mesh carefully and place elsewhere and dry.

I then layered strips of paper and went for it, before I started adding a little bit of this and a little bit of that ... my saying/quote is a Kaisercraft rub on ...

A couple of close ups, just for you.

and another one ...

and again, in its entirety

Happy creating everyone.

'Elegant Chic' ...

Is this paper or is this paper not ... simply stunning ...

It is! It is! It is!

FabScraps has just released a new collection 'Elegant Chic' and yes it is ...
more than a little 'Elegant Chic' ... beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

I suggest that you might like to inspect this collection, up close and personal like,
as in ... having it make its way into your stash.

Materials used :

Elegant Chic Collection : C71 005 Shabby Flowers, FabScraps metal trinkets

I have used white cardstock as my base and cut it 8” x 6” and then scored in half so that my card measures 4” x 6”.
Cut a piece of patterned paper and for these cards I have used Shabby Flowers C71 005 – this paper is gorgeous on both sides.
Rip the bottom away and then slightly trim the smaller torn paper – leave a small gap and then adhere to the cardstock.
Tear a small piece of corrugated cardstock and then cover with a layer of muslin [cheesecloth] on the top.
Adhere both to the patterned paper.
I have used a variety of metal dies to create some foliage and adhered to the muslin.
Cut two very thin strips of patterned paper and curl them around your paper piercer tool to make a scroll and adhere a couple of small pieces to your embellishment cluster.
Add a little black raffia.
Cut into two pieces one of the gorgeous floral FabScraps metal trinkets and then adhere a flower on the top.
To finish, grab a paintbrush and a little gesso and randomly apply and voila, just like that, you are done.

Happy creating everyone.
