Eat, drink and be merry ...

for the new year is only a few hours away ...

I've been doing a whole lot of eating and with it being the festive season - some of that eating hasn't been as good as it should have been and I'm honest.

A couple of days ago I was out and about, doing a little bit for the economy, commonly called shopping and I came home with a few treats and this wee box of treats had to come home with me too.

And trust me on this one ... they are a real treat. I only buy these when I see them on a really good special. Cos at $13 a box ... well that's just crazy! At half price, well that is still a crazy price, but I thought to myself, what the heck ... lol.

They are mine ... DH has had one, he sneaked it ... I'm going to be a little possessive with the rest of these treats ... they are M.I.N.E.

If you are out and about tonight, take care, enjoy the New Year celebrations wherever you may be.

May 2010 be a good one for all of us.
Talk to you next year.

The box

I can't take credit for the instructions ladies ... Mish gave us the link in the forum over at Country Papercraft ...

so here goes ... not sure if the link itself will work ... cos you all know that I am a little techno challenged, so between the linky thing and the instructions, hopefully something will be on my blog ... cos I haven't blogged via Word before, so who knows what is actually going to show up ... lol.

Create the perfect Christmas Gift Box - using the instructions from Split Coaster

HERE

With thanks to Nicole Heady for the instructions.

Edited ... I have removed the other bits and bobs, cos it only came up with little boxes and a little red 'x' in them ... grrrrhhhh!

The instructions were originally posted a couple of years ago, so hopefully it's okay for me to put the link on my blog ... hope I don't get into trouble.

Have fun ... go forth and create ... these looks totally fab-u-lous in black and white combos and I have also whipped one up with hot pink dotted Bazzill as the base and Pink Paislee paper for the top ... ooh-la-la!!!

A time to share

I've played ... oops ... read here ... been creative ...

Let's Get Shabby had a challenge last month that I never got around to completing ... and the girls over at Country Papercraft had a challenge to put together a layout involving a childhood Christmas memory - that had to include 12 lines of handwritten journalling.

I had ideas running around in my head as I often do for the Shabby challenge and that involved taking a photo of my grandparents house and to scrap about a special Christmas that I recall from many years ago.

I decided to run with it and last night my finished layout looked like this.

I've used BG Wassail papers, a Jenny Bowlin vintage bookprint paper, I've punched, I've inked, I've distressed, I've sewn with twine ... I've done all sorts here and I love the way this layout came together.

Last week I received an envelope bulging full of goodies from a scrapping buddy across the ditch - thanks Judy!!! and I've used some lace and satin flowers on this layout as well from my RAK'd goodies. The cream flowers were totally gorgeous, but I decided to 'ink' them, to make them more vintagey.

I'm sharing my handwritten journalling ... so if you have young children around ... please direct them elsewhere ... IYKWIM ...

My hidden hand journalling reads : I must have been borderline believing and not believing in Santa, I don't remember how old I was. A house full of relatives at Nana and Grandad's. People everywhere. I was in the 'good lounge' and the front door bell rang and someone was knocking at the door. I knew not to open the door, but I answered it. There was a big sack left sitting on the doorstep and I truly did see Santa walking down the path. He waved at me and said Merry Christmas Michelle. I saw Santa, I truly did!

Memories scrapped from 1970's

And my wee baubles came from one of the local crafting shops ... a real bargain ... lol

Right then, heading back into my scrap room.

Let's start the New Year off ...

with a few wee treats ...

I made this sweet little box a couple of days ago ... talk about easy peasy and some ... but I've never made one before and I'm thinking that I might be making a few more as the year progresses.

But anyway ... how about .. I fill this little box up with treasures and send it to one of my blogging buddies.

Yep, that's what I am going to do ... you don't have to do anything fancy, you don't have to find an answer to some silly question ... you just have to leave me a message.

So if you are one of those lurkers, you might like to say hi-de-hi - just cos ...

The winner's little box of treats will be winging its way somewhere next week when I go back to work.

So how about we close off on Tuesday night ... just like that and hopefully someone will be unwrapping their wee parcel of goodies before the weekend.

I'll do the random generator thingy and voila ... New Zealand Post will do their thing.

I need a little help ...

from my friends.

I've been filing tonight ... I've got pizza boxes of layouts to file and as you do, I started filing them.

Now I've got a problem, or two.

I've run out of albums and I have been using Making Memories 3 ring 12x12 albums [Black 12x12 3 Ring Noteworthy Albums] and I've been on-line where I normally buy my scrappy stuff and they don't stock them anymore ...

Help ...

And wait for it ... I've still got another 3 pizza boxes of layouts to be filed ... edited to add ... found another box of layouts for filing ... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Talk to me.

After having done the blog hopping thing over the weekend, as you do, I found another idea that I completely fell in love with.

Today I decide to go shopping for crafty stuff.

And I do ... and I did!!!

Can't share anything just yet ... it didn't make it out of its bag tonight.

But let's just say I found some BG fabric ... yep siree, I surely did ...

Da ... da ...

Some of you may know that I have a wee thing for Snowmen and Santa's ... ROFLMAO ...

Meet my newest wee friend ... yep, saw this idea on someone's blog and thought to myself, I can make one of those ... and so I did ...

Glitter and glue for Africa last night ... all over the kitchen bench ...

Today I put him together, made his wee hat [that I'm not overly happy with - which may well be replaced] and cut a strip of felt for his scarf. I've used black brads on his body and for his eyes and then a maroon brad, sticking out a wee tad for his nose.

My wee snowman buddy is now sitting in a red Christmas box with glitzy stuffing and Christmassy baubles ... and I love him ...

some of us ...

are more than a little techno challenged ... and one of them would be moi! and I'm honest!!!

So my sneak peek didn't actually take you straight to the layout, must have been doing something not quite right ... I'm a klutz - okay ... so I admit it ...

So here it is ... in its entirety.

I've used BG for the background paper, popped a Prima transparency on top, you know one of those 'good things' that I have been shall we say holding on to ... you know ... one of those ones that was too good to cut up ... so I didn't ... ROFLMAO ... I just used the whole thing ...

Websters papers, punches, inking, a couple of Prima vines, a little bling, a Prima stamp as a journalling block and there you have it ...

This ones looks way better in real life.

Perhaps next time I might not be such a klutz ... - don't hold ya breath ... but you know what ... these things happen ... lol.

I'm still going ...

okay, so I don't blog everyday ... and now I'm bombarding you ... sorry ...

Just jesting, no I'm not - lol!!!

Remember the photo previous post and DS was in a black shirt and pants ... well that was one of the last photos that I will have, taken of him in his junior school uniform.

We left prize giving on Thursday night and shot through the main department store ... big night, discounts etc for the crazy Christmas shoppers out there ... I thought to myself, new school shoes and said to N ... how about we get them tonight, have you got clean socks on ... lol ... I did ... true!!!

Yep, he did ... so we tried on a couple of pair of shoes, walked out with a box and insoles and went on our merry way ... relatively painless to be honest, except for the bill ... he hates shoe shopping with a passion and I hate shoe shopping with him a whole lot more.

If he's in the mood, no problems, if he's not ... it's just not worth the hassle, trust me on this one.

Grabbed KFC heading home and arrived home not long before DH got home from work.

I scoffed my box of KFC and rather nice it was too by the way, DS disappeared and then walked into the kitchen wearing his senior school uniform ... okay, so we were minus the tie ... between the two of us it wasn't a happening thing ... we need to take tie tying lessons and sooner, rather than later ...

He doesn't scrub up too bad does he?

Next year, my wee man is a senior student at school and will be wearing this get-up, day in and day out.

Talk about a smooth operator ... look at those dress shoes ... OMG he looks, well he looks too grown up.

I took a few pics outside on Thursday night ... look at how light it is ... I kid you not ... camera came out around 9.00 pm and yet you would lthink it was the middle of the day ... nothing has been done to the photo ... it's as it was on the camera.

Three years to go as a senior student, wearing this school uniform ...

Wowser ...

And just for the record, DH was more than a little amazed [and shocked] when he walked through the door, to find his son standing in the hallway, hands in pockets in school uniform ... he really is ... so grown up!!!

This time,
CYA
M

P.S. those clean socks he had on were clean alright ... but OMG they had a hole in them ... shame!!!

Okay ... so I'm skiting ...

again ...

and I have every reason to.

Thursday night I was at the Civic Theatre for prize giving ... yep ... DS was third up on the stage and presented with the U15 Athletics Champion (Junior Challenge Cup).

He threw away athletics a couple of years ago in favour of rugby and cricket and he can still compete against the best of them and walk away with an athletics trophy.

The boys who are presented with trophies need to hand them back in straight after the prize giving ceremony ... true ... they don't get to take them home and have them sitting proudly displayed on TV cabinets ... so afterwards, he whipped out to find me, so that I could take the obligatory pics ... as scrapbooking Mum's do ... just quietly ... lol.

This poor old cup is now more than a little battered and bruised ... but for the rest of its life, it will bear my son's name ... woo hoo ...

You make us so very proud young man.
Love you, but you know that.

How cool is this ...

DS brought this home from school on Thursday ... juggling it with his school bag while riding his bike and he had it sitting on his handlebars ... OMG it's a wonder it arrived home in one piece!

It's awesome ... although very difficult to actually take a photo of ... I didn't want to appear in the photograph ... IYKWIM ...

This lad has many talents ... the drawers are lined with felt ... the mirror moves forward, swings if that makes sense.

I'm more than a little proud to be honest ... so too is his Dad.

I couldn't help myself ...

Emails coming in all directions, flyers in the mail, adverts in the newspaper, TV advertising ... it's coming at me every which way.

Tonight after work I joined the throngs of people shopping ... I swung by Briscoes on the way home and OMG the crowds shopping were out of this world.

People pushing trolleys, shoppers grabbing things, waving them at other family members, dumping them in their trolleys.

I watched and observed. Would have been awesome to sit down and watch them all to be honest ... people watching in Briscoes ... scary stuff.

I grabbed a few things and grabbed a few more things, as you do, cos you can and finally I made it to the check-out.

$100 later, I kid you not ... I seriously need to water, fertilise and talk nicely to that money tree. It needs to flourish, the sooner, the better.

Shopping is exhausting - truly ... not to mention expensive.

Now I need to wrap a few more things and label them and send them on their merry way.

Had better hop to it!!!!

Don't know if I have the energy or the inclination to go walking tonight ... but I'm sure DH will give me a yell and tell me to get my A into G and get my gym shoes on sometime soon ... we will see!

Remember when ...

I blogged pics of a family of little ducklings along with Mr and Mrs Duck ...

Yeah, I know, that was simply ages ago.

Well those little ducklings have grown just a wee tad. I have good intentions to grab the camera and take a pic or two, but that hasn't happened yet ... sorry!!!

Those grown up ducklings are now taking full advantage of my generosity, morning and night. I go to drive out of our garage in the morning and they are sitting outside the garage door waiting for me to feed them --- I kid you not.

I get home from work, swing into the driveway and they are sitting on our front lawn waiting for you know who to arrive home.

They must have an inbuilt radar that knows I'm on my way.

And someone you know obliges and feeds their habits, so that someone has got no one to blame but herself.

I click on my remote thingymajig, as you do, swing into the garage and before I'm even out of the car, the ducks are in. the. garage!!! True.

I whip open the freezer and grab four slices of bread. I'm heading back out the garage door and telling my ducky friends to move their butts and don't you sh*t in Mr Friz' garage ... quick, come on, get out ... get on the lawn ... it's tea time ... just about word for word and the little rat bags, well not quite so little any more thank you very much, look at me and waddle on to the lawn and are fed.

Last night one of them nipped my fingers ... poor wee thing must have been starving - lol - I growled him, her or whatever for nipping me ... lol.

and just for the record, most of the time it is the plain white bread ... but ssssshhhhhhh ... don't tell Mr Friz, occasionally they might get a slice of Molenberg thrown in as well. Just cos!!!

A little bit shabby ...

Here tis ...

I have had a real play with this one and really enjoyed myself ... I've used MME papers, I've been hand cutting scallops, punching holes, inking, distressing, had one of my punches out. I've also pulled apart a pizza box, distressed it and used crackle paint. I've played with one of the MME vintage kits as well, popped on a few flowers and with a bit of luck your eye will have been drawn to my handmade fence --- cos I had to make an embellishment and I opted for a fence on this layout ... the crackle paint doesn't overly show up in this photo, but that's what I used.

So there you have it ... another one of the Let's Get Shabby monthly challenges completed -click on my side bar and it should take you straight to their blog ... some ultra talented creative ladies frequent their blog.

Forgive me ...

for it has been three weeks since I last blogged ...

That time thief keeps coming to visit me and stealing my hours - he does - true dinks!!! He's sneaking in and stealing an hour or two here and there and I'm starting [nope - am!!!] getting more than a littled peeved off to be honest!

Right then gripe over ...

Oops - not true!!!

Last night I sat in front of the idiot box and watched the All Whites take on the boys from Bahrain ... the crowd amazing, a sea of white ... they looked fab-u-lous --- the footballers, well O.M.F.G. I so could NOT believe their hi-jinx and antics on the field ... what a pack of [insert what you like here]. If you are injured and you hit the deck, so be it ... but when you aren't even bodily touched and hit the deck, OMG, you flippin wuss!!! What do they call it ... Hollywood's - well I saw more than a few of them last night. One part of it I said to DH, I've had enough watching this crap ...

But still I sat in my chair cheering our boys on ...

So good on ya guys ... I was willing that final whistle to do its thing. You were a classy act ... still haven't worked out why when time is up on the clock they added another three minutes to it ... no idea on so many of the rules when it comes to Soccer, some of the things looked pretty hit and miss to me ... but I watched you guys and supported you vocally from the comfort and warmth of my lounge ...

Good on ya!!!

And ... just for the record, I remember back in 1982 --- Steve, Ricky, Kevin and others ... it was more than fab-u-lous, so too was last night's game.

Right then ...

N is heading away on school camp tomorrow for a few days and I can be thankful that it is only for a few days. Why do I say that ... I've seen his food list for the next three days. The boys are split up into groups and have to fend for themselves food-wise and cooking-wise from what I can gather. Now this lad of mine has a bottomless pit - he has one of those built-in radars that picks up when there is cooked food in the vicinity and the food that is [now 'was'] on his list was and is NOT enough for him to survive on for three days ... crazy ... let's just say noodles featured on. its. own!!!

I had a motherly suggestion and said why don't you take some mince and take a nacho mix; cook that and add it to the noodles ... if you must take noodles.

On N's list was a loaf of bread, amongst other things ... so I can only hope that someone else has butter and jam and whatever else that would be wanted on their list. Who would know!!!

These boys have just finished the last of their exams so I don't know that too much thought was given to this group and their eating habits ... time will tell though.

DH isn't going to let him starve and he has gone grocery shopping.

On N's list was also home baking ... OMG I laughed at that one ... a la Couplands me thinks - although I might get time to whip up a loaf and plonk it into the oven this afternoon.

The weather down here has been shite to be honest - galeforce winds day in and day out, rain - day in and day out for weeks on end. These boys are going to need hot, nourishing food going into their bodies ... OMG would love to be a fly on the wall come meal time.

Nathan can cook, in fact he doesn't do too bad a job in the kitchen to be honest, but he has to have the ingredients in the first place to play with.

Right then, no more on that subject. LOL ...

Creativity - yep, been playing - oops, should read ... have been creative on occasion ... can't share too much ... but I can share three layouts here ...

Right then ... moving along ... need to take N into town this afternoon and get him to try on his senior school uniform ... gonna be a costly exercise. Wish me luck.

A little more Prima

funny that ...

I've scrapped a photo of my lil sis ... a whole lot of Prima going on ... Prima papers, journalling card, I've used a Prima stamp to make a journalling block which is tucked under the right hand side. I've also used part of some Prima packaging and lots of the latest little Prima flowers that have hit the shop at Scrappin Patch ... and I've also recycled some mesh ribbon and the wee leaves ribbon from some birthday wrapping ... woo hoo, go me!!!

Truly, this layout really was whipped up and now I need to head out to the kitchen to whip up a meat loaf for tonight's dinner and I so do not like yucky hands and making a meat loaf leaves you with yucky hands - yes it does.

Sisters ...

Yep, the title of my creativity from this afternoon.

A Prima challenge - well hello - was never going to have a problem putting together a layout featuring 80% Prima product now ... was I??? !!! ??? I DON'T THINK SO!!!

So I've used a little Wink, a little Flirty, a little bling, I've used two punches, Fiskars diamond punch and a Martha Stewart punch as well, a whole lot of inking and curling as well.

Snuck in behind one of the leaves is a quote that I have ripped from a book titled Sisters ...

Blood's thicker than water,
And when one's in trouble
Best to seek out a relative's open arms.

a little ...

shabby chic ...

I've been playing with the sketch and scrapped a little shabby ... quite like how it turned out in the end - but boy-oh-boy I struggled a little bit after having just completed two layouts with Basic Grey's Lime Rickey ... talk about from one extreme to the other ... lol.

So this is it ...

Not only was I supposed to scrap a little shabby, but I also had to use some vintage embellishments ... I've played a little with a whole lot of pearls, feathers, flowers and netting and I've also used a crocheted flower made by my mother-in-law and I hand made the paper flower from an old book which I scrunched and inked ... so there you have it.

It's the first time I have actually put a layout 'out there' playing along with the challenge - I guess there is a first time for everything ...

I need to ...

water, fertilise and talk nicely to the money tree - on a daily basis, honest I do ... I've been spending a small fortune lately on a little bit of this and a little bit of that - lol.

Today though I took the young fella to Rebel Sports. Now if you aren't familiar with Invers, I will let you know now that Briscoes and Rebel Sports are situated beside one and other and both of them were doing an absolutely roaring trade and some, by the looks of both carparks and street frontages this afternoon ... parks were scarce and there were people everywhere.

Crazy is the word that comes to mind - lol.

I walked into Rebel Sports and the bodies inside ... wow, worse than Boxing Day, when I was there. Admittedly they did have some good specials. I mean to say, when I've got to reclad the lad in cricket whites every season, cos he's still growing, I kinda like the 30% off days - well just a wee tad. I figure it's better off in my pocket than theirs - ROFLMAO.

We are now sporting two brand spanking new sets of cricket whites and cricket shoes - hopefully they will see him through this cricket season - well here's hoping.

It costs a small fortune kitting out this lad with all of his sporting committments [and some].

And you know what ... I'm sure I've heard that word 'recession' bandied about lately ... didn't look like it down here today.

P.S. Mother Nature hasn't been listening to me ... just quietly - it's kinda cold and drab and I'm putting it politely.

It's Spring ...

well it is ... somewhere in the world ... just not down here atm.

Mother Nature is obviously a little confused - she is mixing it up for us ... but I'm over it now.

I. want. the. sun. back ... and I want it back now ... pretty please!

I'm over this shitty weather. We see a little sun, we see a whole lot of cloud, we see a whole lot of rain and we see a whole lot of wind --- on. a. daily. basis!!!

All I want to see is a whole lot of blue sky, cloudless blue sky and a whole lot of sun.

Not too much to ask for ... pretty please ... are you listening?

I'm just saying ... I'm over it.

I'm back ...

did you even miss me ... go on ... please tell me you did ... it would make me feel good - ROFLMAO ...

I've been AWOL for just a little while. It was this time last week that I got home from work and found my cell phone - yep, left it at home - I. think. for. the. first. time. ever!!! and wouldn't you know it - someone who is near and dear to me had been leaving me messages - she didn't know that I didn't have my cell phone with me - I'm talking an extension of my arm here, that's what my cell phone is and I didn't know that she was trying to get hold of me ... grrrhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Anyway, enough of that ... needless to say I jumped on a plane on Thursday morning and flew to where I needed to be. Well that's after I had to catch a later plane, cos the one I was supposed to catch wasn't going anywhere fast as a result of engineering issues - another grrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

But that's okay too - I got to where I needed to be in the end.

I won't go into detail here on my blog, but let's just say it was a load off my mind - well the big load is now gone - just a little load remains.

To my little sis, please look after yourself and do. as. you. are. told!!!

I'm your big sister and I can be growly - standing here with my hands on my hips - so there!!!

Anyway, whilst up in Christchurch, a very special lady made me feel so very welcome at her place, I mean hello, you get a phone call a little late on a week night and next thing you know you are talking to me, that was probably a big enough shock in itself - lol - so a big thank you Vicki - you know I mean you!!!! You all made me feel very welcome and you and Andrew have three awesome teenagers and you can be so very proud of all of them - truly!!! and Vicki's other baby ... you know the one ... the. one. and. only. Brodie ... OMG - well he's a whole nother story --- just kidding ... he's delightful - truly!!!

So Thursday saw me at the hospital and then staying the night at Vicki's.

On Friday I went tiki touring with Vicki - well we started off just around the road with the first pick up of the day - hi-de-hi Heidi - lol and then Vicki took me out in the wop wops ... she sure did ... I'm talking serious wop wops here ... I visited the Swannanoa Retreat - yep siree, I even met the infamous Danny - OMG, you want to see him - too cute - a right little terror, but too cute all the same.

After the grand tour the girls took me tiki touring some more - they even have a scrap shop in the middle of the wop wops - had a quick wee visit there as well and then we went to lunch - wowser, what a ripper of a wee place it is at Pukeko [spelling - definitely doesn't look right - lol] Junction, although I tried telling Miss Meg that I was at Petticoat Junction for lunch - where on earth I got that from, I have absolutely no idea - but it sounded good.

Good food, good friends and good conversation and more than a few laughs ... Trace is not going to forget the fridge in a hurry ... my lips are sealed - not telling - sssshhhhhhh!!!

And then we were off again ... heading back to Trace's and you've got to remember that we were still in the middle of nowhere, in the wop wops ... lol.

Come Saturday morning and after a night at my sister's, a friend of hers picked us up and we went tiki touring South this time instead of North and I went and visited Adrienne at Scrappin Patch - although I was a little bit naughty to start off with.

I said to my sister, don't let on who I am and I will introduce myself when I'm good and ready and that's exactly what I did.

So I got this friendly hello when I walked in ... but I figured that's Adrienne, a friendly person saying hello and she knew Tracy, so I mumbled a quiet hello and kept on looking at scrappy stuff, cos that's what you do when you are in a scrappy shop - lol!!! Duh !!!

She thought she recognised me, but cos I didn't say anything she wasn't sure ... lol ...

So Adrienne, it was wonderful meeting you, I enjoyed fossicking around your goodies in real life and I now know where it is that my pizza box sits [on hold] waiting for all the new goodies to arrive ... lol ...

I jokingly said that I was going to whip into Annelie's pizza box and have a nosey, but ... I didn't my Swedish friend - honest ... I was tempted though ...

And then on Saturday night I flew home ... so it was a flying visit, but a very tiring visit; crammed a lot into that visit too just quietly.

and now moving along to something totally different - here's my show and tell - the Catwalk this week with the girls at Scrapbook Outlet I left to the last minute ... I've been known to do that before now, so that's nothing unusual ... but tonight I got home from work and thought to myself I will change and head into my scrap room and that's exactly what I did.

A little Prima, well a whole lot of Prima really, a few pearls, a little lace, a fence [I hand made the fence last night], a hand made crocheted flower [see Vicki - lol], some feathers, a little inking, some Websters Pages and there you have it ... talk about whipping it up ...

Who needs to eat ...

and I scrapped 'me' ... go me!!!

Right then, if you've got this far, good on ya ... hope I haven't bored you silly ...

I've gotta go and feed me - my tummy is rumbling big time.

Before I go though ... please remember to tell those people that you love, that you love them ... one day it might be too late.

about time I shared

a layout featuring 'moi' - well we all know that they are few and far between cos I would prefer to be the one holding the camera, you know ... the one telling everyone else that I want to take their pic - lol - as you do!!!

This layout was put together using the monthly kit from CPC across the ditch and the only additional items used apart from the kit, to enhance the kit shall we say was ink and a punch and my Slice ...

Right then ... had better get back to it ... have a layout I want to play with sitting on my scrap mat - my desk is covered in sh*t - read here ... plenty of scrapping supplies - lol.
