Saturday Step X Step

Hello everyone! First, I must apologize to each of you... this post is very, very late but, sometimes life just works that  way... right? Anyways, better late than never. I have to tell you how excited I am that Linda is now carrying Melissa Frances products in her fabulous Zibbet shop! So, I have a tag for you featuring some of my favorite products by Melissa Frances.
To get started, using the Sizzix Tag & Bookplates Die, die cut one tag from cardstock. Cut a piece of burlap pretty close to the size of tag (see photo below). One image of your choice (mine is from Pion Designs Springtime Paper) and machine stitch around the image if desired. Cut a small piece of lace to fit the bottom of the tag. By the way, ignore the brown envelope in the top photo, I was planning on using it but, I changed my mind and now it is too dark to retake the photo.
Adhere the piece of lace  to the bottom of the tag just letting a little bit hang down from the bottom. Stamp your sentiment at the top of the tag. Using some adhesive spray, lightly spray the back of the burlap and adhere to the tag (I do not spray the whole piece, as I want some of it to stick up to achieve the look I want. Now, adhere the image as shown in the photo below.
Adhere the Melissa Frances Applique Resin Corner Embellishment in the left corner of the image. Using some Melissa Frances Zipper Ribbon, cut about a 5" piece. We are going to make the rolled flower now. You can do this one of two ways, I find it easier running a gathering stitch along the edge of the ribbon (by machine) but, you can just roll and glue too.
After you have machine stitched the longest stitch you can with your machine, pull one thread on either end of ribbon and gather until your liking, shape into flower and adhere to the bottom left corner of tag. Adhere a piece of lace into the center of ribbon flower and then a pearl into the center of lace. I am telling you, they are very, very easy to make! Adhere some Tim Holtz Chit Chat Stickers in the right bottom corner of tag.
Tie a piece of White Jute String thru the hole in the top of the tag and clip a Mini Clothespin in the center of the hole. You are now ready to enjoy your sweet little tag!

I hope you enjoyed the Step X Step!

Have a great weekend!

Friday Focus ~ Metal Embellishments

Good Friday morning friends! Today I am sharing with you, a little pocket that can be filled with a gift card, chocolate, a note, etc. The product I am focusing on is metal embellishments. Linda has such darling little metal embellishments in her boutique, some rusty, some antique bronzed, different shapes sizes and themes. My favorite is the Rusted Metal Embellishments.
Rusted Metal Embellishments - Stars, Bells, Hearts,Bottle Caps, Tags & Signs - 34 Piece Set
I love every single piece in this assortment pack! The bottle caps, hearts, stars and oh my... the bells! But, I'm guessing you would like for me to get on with my project... right?
The thing with the Rusted Metal Embellishments is, you do not have to do anything to them... they have all the charm and shabby look to them. I used the large heart and one of the bottle caps then, brushed the outside edges with a little paint (vintage white) the brush was almost dry... meaning not very much paint.
Next, I used a square piece from the Mega Metals Value Set, these are antiqued bronzed filligrees. I brushed it with the same paint, only using a lot more paint.
For the bottle cap, I just punched out a circle from an image (using a one inch circle punch), machine stitched around the circle and adhered it to the inside of the bottle cap using a pop dot.
There you have it, my favorite product focus (not that we are suppose to use our favorite but, I just had to let you know). I wish I could share more than one product with you... the Sizzix Pocket Envelope Die is fabulous too!

Right now everything in the boutique is discounted 10% for the Memorial Day sale.  Starting Tuesday, May 29th, we'll revert back to our normal Friday Focus special and the rusty and filigree metals will be 15% off.

Have a lovely day!

Saturday StepXStep... Shabby Wall Hanging

Hello everyone! I hope your weekend is going well thus far! Today I have a shabby little wall hanging for you. I am focusing on Pion Design papers because you can get these beautiful papers at an outstanding price as well as an EXTRA 15% off right now in Linda's boutique, The Funkie Junkie. I'm telling you, they are beautiful papers!
I will say, I don't have a lot of "how to" photos because, this is a very simple piece to put together so I'm  just going to show you more detailed photos instead of showing you pictures of sewing machines, inking, etc. So, first we will cut out and ink our pieces from the Pion Design papers. Using the floral tag, cut a larger tag from the pink and white polka dot paper, it is about 1/2" larger all the way around. (The photo is missing one butterfly and two border strips... I added them after I snapped this photo :)
Next, cut a piece of fabric about 7 3/4 X 5 1/4"... I used a waffle textured fabric.
Machine stitch around the larger tag and photo image.  Adhere the floral tag to the larger pink and white polka dot tag, adhere the photo image in center of floral tag. Zig zag stitch at the top and bottom of the floral tag. Cut two strips from the border paper fitting the width of the fabric allowing the edges to overlap the fabric just a bit, adhere about 1 3/4" from the bottom of fabric. Adhere the tags in center of fabric.
Adhere a crocheted doily to the upper left corner as shown in photo. Adhere a canvas banner next to doily, attach a pearl bead to a safety pin and pin to the canvas banner, adhere flower with leaf to the top edge of canvas banner. Thread button and adhere in center of doily.
Die cut a doily from felt using the Sizzix Distressed Doily, adhere to the back side of fabric along the bottom edge, zig zag stitch across the bottom of fabric. Adhere a piece of vintage lace across the bottom of fabric as shown in photo. Adhere pop - dots to the back of paper banner and adhere across the bottom of photo image. If you have not done so, cut the "From my Heart" word strip into a banner, adhere pop - dots behind the "From my Heart" banner and adhere on top of large banner. Cut a small strip from Rusty Tin Wire Net and adhere to the bottom left corner of lace, adhere the two butterflies as shown in photo. Adhere "Mother" sticker in center of floral tag.
Attach a hanger or clip to the top... I found mind at my local flea market. You could use mini hangers or clips.
Enjoy your hanging!

Welome to Saturday's Step by Step

Good morning everyone... Tammy here today with your Saturday step-by-step tutorial. I am showing you how to create this shabby little tag...
So, let's get started... start by die cutting two large tags from the Sizzix Alterations Tim Holtz Tags & Bookplates Die. One from regular cardstock and one from Claudine Hellmuth Sticky-Back Canvas. We are now going to give the canvas tag an "aged" look. Using a Misting Bottle, fill it half full with water and then add four to five drops of Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink Reinker (any color you like... I used Spun Sugar but, linked at the bottom of the page for products used Tattered Rose because it is a beautiful color too). Lightly spray the canvas until you are happy with the color wash.
I wanted to add some brown color to it also to give it that "aged" look. You can very well do this by using the same method as above by using a brown ink but, I chose to use some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist... Crushed Sea Shells. Again, lightly spray until you are happy with the results, I then machine stitched around the canvas tag.
Here is a sample of how mine looks at the top of the tag...
Now, die cut a heart from the Corrugated Cardboard using the Sizzix Alterations Tim Holts Heart & Wings Die. Using the Acrylic Paint Dabber, go around the edges and the top of the heart, I then machine stitched around the heart.
We are now ready to start assembling the tag... die cut wings and crown from patterned paper using the Heart and Wings Die, a large flower from felt and a smaller flower from fabric using the Tattered Florals Die. I hand stitched a stem in the bottom right corner, then adhere the canvas tag to the cardstock tag. Stamp the sentiment in the lower left corner of the angel tag die cut, adhere the angel tag in the lower left corner of the canvas tag (I machine stitched along the bottom of angel tag). Adhere the large felt flower adding the small fabric flower on top then adhere button.
Now, add the Wire Clip to a piece of lace and run thru heart. Adhere the wings behind heart, adhere the heart down as shown in photo. Adhere the "treasure" sticker, chipboard butterfly and wings adding rhinestones to the crown tips. Add large button to the top of the angel tag.
Adhere the lace to the bottom of the tag and cut a small strip from the Rusty Tin Wire Net and adhere along the bottom... and there you go! One shabby little tag!

I hope you enjoyed the step-by-step today and are inspired to create one for yourself.
