Blooming Friday Ghostly Mist Bouquet

It was a ghostly misty morning... following an evening of picking flowers to honor a friend, who had been taken from his family, community and creative work entirely too soon. The morning of David's Memorial misty veils of moisture were wispily rising like gossamer drapes, from the river valley below the gardens. As the sun rises its shafts of light tear at the vaporous fabric. Damp coolness comforts the freshly culled flowers, as they stand near an open door... in water... in wait ... conditioning overnight... then with the new day light... I begin lifting stem after stem. I love the way they freely fall within the buckets and truly strive... to keep that loose natural feeling... when arranging them into more presentable vases. My own little Flower Hill Florilegium to offer towards a celebration of one incredible man's life. Here you see them in all the stages ... from garden buckets to glass and finally their place in a local gallery that hosted the reception. I am grateful to my gardens... for their blooms... and enjoy gathering while remembering a dear soul... I am grateful to have known. I added the joyful sunflowers, from another organic grower. It is Blooming Friday this first day of October. To see other blossoms from around our world go to Katarina's Roses and Stuff. May you all have a lovely weekend.

Blooming Friday Bouquet Shadow Play

It's Blooming Friday hosted by lovely Katarina at Roses and Stuff ... be sure to visit her site to see other garden blooms from around the world. I am offering a Flower Hill garden bouquet this breezy fall day. There are not many flower varieties available just now but I do so love a more poetic bouquet. I had a little fun with shadows that fell on a canvas... that was reflecting light to one side of the flower arrangement. Odd that I do not enjoy picking flowers from my gardens, as I am a flower arranger now for over 25 years... you can see some of the work I have done over the years here. I see all the butterflies and bees feeding on the nectar of my garden blooms and just hate to take them from that environment. My farm/gardens do help support Flower Hill Farm however, so pick I must for the B&B and special events I am hired to arrange flowers for. Thank goodness there are also lots of other local growers nearby. Have a great weekend.
