Miles Davis - Avery Fisher Hall 1975

Band Recorded Soundboard @320

Listen to these two sets and it’s hard to imagine that Miles Davis would soon stop playing for the next four years. The band is firing on all cylinders; the music is passionately performed and any other group would have died for this. Filled with Miles’ staccato, jump-start bursts, with a backing wash of drums and cymbals that sound like shredding glass and a meandering, funky guitar - components such as nuance and precision may take a backseat to spontaneity and the magic of the musical kill… and it is all still surprisingly fresh today.

Elliott Smith - Live Maxwell's
Hoboken, NJ
December 30, 1999
Excellent Soundboard @ flac

Source: Soundboard > TCD-100
Lineage: wav > CD
Taped by: Erik Brady

Steven Paul "Elliott" Smith (August 6, 1969 – October 21, 2003) was an American singer-songwriter and musician. Smith was born in Omaha, Nebraska, raised primarily in Texas, and resided for a significant portion of his life in Portland, Oregon, the area in which he first gained popularity. Smith's primary instrument was the guitar, but he was also proficient with piano, clarinet, bass guitar, drums, and harmonica. Smith had a distinctive vocal style, characterized by his "whispery, spiderweb-thin delivery," and used multi-tracking to create vocal layers, textures, and harmonies.

After playing in the rock band Heatmiser for several years, Smith began his solo career in 1994, with releases on the independent record labels, Cavity Search and Kill Rock Stars (KRS). In 1997, he signed a contract with DreamWorks Records, the label for which he recorded two albums.[2] Smith rose to mainstream prominence when his song, "Miss Misery"—included in the soundtrack for the film Good Will Hunting—was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category in 1998.

Smith suffered from depression, alcoholism, and drug dependence, and these topics often appear in his lyrics. At age 34, he died in Los Angeles, California, from two stab wounds to the chest. The autopsy evidence was inconclusive as to whether the wounds were self-inflicted. At the time of his death, Smith was working on his sixth studio album, From a Basement on the Hill, which was posthumously released.

Charles Bradley And The Menahan Street Band Live @224Kbps

REBOOTED BY REQUEST ORGINALLY POSTED 12-13-2015
REBOOTED BY REQUEST (AGAIN)

If you are already hip to this guy disregard the rest of the text and jump immediately to the the link, however if you're not, one thing that bothers me about today's Rap,Hip-Hop,Rhythm and Blues music is that it seems almost to have forgotten everything that has come before it.  I mean my God, how can you even get on a stage with no musicians, backing tracks and tape? I respect the talent it takes to talk (sing) a song and make every word rhyme, however put it to a real band and it loses it potency.  Where are today's James Brown's, Wilson Pickett's, Otis Redding's The Temptations, Four Tops etc? Well a friend of mine turned me on to Charles Bradley and man this is the real SHIT. If you love those bands I just mentioned you are gonna love this. The music hearkens back to our favorite bands of an era long ago but the message is contemporary After hearing this, go out and buy his two studio albums and let's make Mr. Bradley the super star he deserves to be.......or not.  No covers.
Songs are...

1. You Put The Flame On It
2. Crying In The Chapel
3. Strictly Reserved For You-Confusion
4. Let Love Stand A Chance
5. Why Is It So Hard
6. Lovin' You Baby
7. Heartaches And Pain
8. The World Is Going Up In Flames
9. No Time For Dreamin'
10. Golden Rule

Gary Barrett (alfienoakes on Dime) RIP

Gary was a well-known figure in the Glasgow music scene, after working in A1 Sounds / Fopp and Avalanche Records for over 20 years. He also promoted a few shows in the mid 80s.
When minidisc technology emerged, he immediately set himself up for recording and began chronicling all the gigs he attended. This is a record of all the existing MD’s I found in his massive music collection, which his brother asked me to transfer on to hard drive.
Gary passed away suddenly from natural causes in Sept 2006, ironically just after he purchased his first HD recorder and only got to record 2 shows with (Green On Red at King Tut’s being the last one).
Big thanks to jamroom for taking over this project and the many dimebots who have helped him in this massive endeavour. This MD Project is a tribute to Gary's passion for live music and supporting local and small touring bands.

Band members:
Tom Verlaine – Vocals, Guitar
Billy Ficca – Drums
Fred Smith – Bass, Vocals
Richard Lloyd – Guitar, Vocals

Gig Notes:

Gary never taped any support acts, if there were any.
Recording notes and sound quality:

Added fades and boosted the volume by +4db. There's some chat to be heard (why?) and an enthusiastic clapper / singer near Gary for a while, but it's still a great listen.

Many thanks to jokingman for completing the setlist.

Do NOT sell these recordings, trade FREELY!
No art, make you own.
Enjoy!

Dan Lampinski recorded over 100 concerts in the Providence/Boston area, mostly between 1974 and 1978. His earliest recordings were made with an internal microphone deck, and though they are somewhat lo-fi compared to his later work, some very great moments in rock history were captured for posterity. In late 1974 he bought a Sony TC-152SD tape recorder, a Sony ECM-99 stereo microphone, and began using Maxell cassettes. He was also fortunate enough to have a friend who provided excellent taping seats for many shows, resulting in high quality recordings. In 1977, he switched over to a Nakamichi 550 tape recorder, two Nakamichi CM-300 microphones, and continued using Maxell cassettes.
He recorded many of the major 70's bands: Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, ELP, Kiss, Black Sabbath, The Who, Al Stewart, Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Jean-Luc Ponty, Moody Blues, Neil Young, The Faces, Rush, Rick Wakeman, Kansas, as well as several "under the radar" acts.
Since Dan never traded copies of his recordings, they are all essentially uncirculated. Some copies were made for friends, but these releases are the first time most of these recordings have ever seen the light of day, and are direct from his master cassettes. No EQ'ing has been done to any of the transfers. Feel free to EQ, matrix, patch, etc and re-post if you like, just give Dan credit for the original recording.
Dan was very meticulous about taking good care of his tapes and is very pleased that these recordings will now circulate among the trading community. Please honour his kindness and generosity by sharing these recordings freely.
The transfers are available as 16bit/44.1KHz flac files suitable for CD burning, and also as 24bit/96KHz flac files for those who prefer the higher resolution.
Always remember - the more generous you are with your music, the more it comes back to you.
