Arzachel - self titled - 1969

Arzachel - self titled - 1969
Studio recordings @ 320
{Out of Print}

The band consisting of Steve Hillage (guitar/vocals), Dave Stewart (organ), Clive Brooks
(drums) and Mont Campbell (bass/vocals). The band produced their sole album under the
name Arzachel in June 1969.
The album Arzachel was recorded and mixed in a single session in London. The 'A' side has four songs, while the 'B' side consists of only two mind-bending psychedelic tracks, the longer of which is a 17-minute jam entitled 'Metempsychosis'. It was issued on the short-lived Evolution label (also home to the debut by Raw Material) and quickly became a collectors' item. A pirate version is thought to have circulated in the late 1970s, and it has been much bootlegged in more recent years.

Track List:
Garden of Earthly Delights" (Arzachel)
Azathoth" (Arzachel)
Queen St. Gang" (K. Mansfield)
Leg" (Arzachel)
Clean Innocent Fun" (Arzachel)
Metempsychosis" (Arzachel)

- Basil Dowling (Clive Brooks) / drums
- Njerogi Gategaka (Mont Campbell) / bass, vocals
- Sam Lee-Uff (Dave Stewart) / organ
- Simeon Sasparella (Steve Hillage) / guitar, vocals

Afroskull - Live Bowery Poetry Club, NY. - 2007

Afroskull - Live Bowery Poetry Club
June 21, 2007
New York, NY
Soundboard @ Flac & VBR

Afroskull is greasy persuasion and bad gris-gris. A New York City funk/rock collective by way of New Orleans, the ‘Skull is a sonic gumbo that is one part Funkadelic and one part Black Sabbath with generous helpings of Zappaesque runs and jazzoid horns.  The interplay of their heady musicianship and fat bottomed grooves helps to keep les bon temps rouler all night long.

The Skatalites - From Paris with Love {Out of Print}

The Skatalites - From Paris with Love
Recorded in Paris 2001
Soundboard @320
{Out Of Print}

This album was recorded live with few overdubs at Davout Studios in Paris
in December 2001 in just 16 hours.

A return album of sorts from the Skatalites, recorded in between tour dates across Europe in December 2001. While there are only two of the original members still on the roster (Lloyd Brevett and Dizzy Johnny Moore), a number of one-time players and such have joined the band in recent years for touring purposes, and here join in for the album as well. Will Clark does a good job of mimicking Don Drummond's old trombone work while still attempting to hold a bit of his own style. The jazzier guitarist Devon James works admirably with his own sound, though it doesn't fit into the whole quite the way Jah Jerry did in the past. Other players appear and disappear as necessary, including Lloyd Knibb, the creator of the one-drop hit on drums (an important development for Jamaican music). Overall, it's a pretty good album, though there are certainly other Skatalites albums that should be heard prior to this one, such as the Ball of Fire compilation. the Skatalites were and are the premier ska band throughout Jamaican music history, and their work is what led directly into reggae proper. Despite this, though, the band begins to show its age in this album, with the replacement players acting more as tribute musicians than full members in the band. There are a couple of entirely new songs here for the true collectors, so pick it up as a completist or as a crazed fan, but not as a newcomer to the Skatalites or ska in general.

The Maü-Maü - Maü Music For Maü People - 2013

The Maü-Maü - Maü Music For Maü People - 2013
Studio Recordings @ 128

Talk about burning fast and bright in late 2012  The Maü-Maü  erupted onto the Quebec scene like an out of control lead sled rocket  and word of the band spread pretty fast .With a ton of pedigree comes high expectations  and here was a  band that more than  lived up to all the noise that has been surrounding them.In early 2013 they went into the studio to lay down their debut album,played a few killer shows ,took the summer off, packed it in  and then put out their one and only album.That said "Maü Music For Maü People" is nothing short of a pure rush.This puppy smashes in with 15 in your face tracks that for the most part don't let up .Self described as "Psycho- voodoo-garage-a-billy-deluxe" this is all that and more.Let's just say this is raw garage melding with psychobilly that makes for a rough but kool  brew.Highlights include : "Three Men One Coffin", "Red Headed Plag","Sous Les Tropiq" and "Maü Baker".

It's sad that The Maü-Maü are no longer and they really were a band that managed to impress more than a few people . "Maü Music For Maü People " is nothing short of a damn fine album  and a pretty good testament to a short lived kool band that knew how to blow the doors off the joint. The band has posted the album HERE FOR FREE!!...
