owls
…He told her once when there was a storm a bird had flown into the house. He’d never seen one like it. The wind must have carried it in from some far-off place. He opened all the doors and windows, but it was so desperate to escape that for a while it couldn’t find a way out. “It left a blessing in the house,” he said. “The wildness of it. Bringing the wind inside.”

little bird
Feeling very melancholy these last few days of life as we know it. This is her last week of preschool - ever - and she will start kindergarden within days of our return from our summer-long trip. Feeling very grateful for the countless days we've spent together and just so in love with her fire and imagination. Here is a little taste of home/life with Alma-Luisa. It has been such a joy. I'm trying hard to be excited and positive, but I will miss this so much.
Dressed up as Laura from Little House on the Prairie with Jack the dog and Charlotte the rag doll
Dressed up as an Explorer with the coon-skin cap we got her in Reno and toilet-paper roll binoculars
Bringing me breakfast
Dressed up as an indian
At the Exploratorium
Airplane rides
A feast of a tea party
The day we dropped everything when she said she wished her shirt was embroidered and we did - all designed by her, hand-stitching by her and machine-sewing by me
at nonna's
Nonna hosted the most wonderful get-together, a combo Easter/Luci's 8th birthday party. A great day.
