Abstracts and graffiti faces in Rimini

We don't publish many graffiti articles but this place at the Rimini docks looked very interesting. We start with a shot under a bridge, close to a small boat. Some of the graffiti is abstract but occasionally we were surprised by the painted faces on these walls.

We publiceren niet zo veel graffiti artikelen maar deze plaats aan de Rimini kade leek ons heel interessant. We vangen aan onder een brug, vlak naast een kleine sloep. Sommige graffiti is abstract maar we waren verrast door de op de muren gespoten gedetailleerde gezichten.

Pleasure boats in the port of Cambrils

Don't expect a cruise port or large ships in Cambrils. This is a tourist location and the only boats present are for fun and pleasure. When you enjoy the sea, tour operators offer day or half day trips with sail boats or huge catamarans. We were interested for such a trip with the catamaran but it was fully booked.

On the walking promenade next to the port you find street art collections. Probably Cambrils uses this to uplift its image as high class beach location. It seems to work because several multi euro yachts are docked here.

Verwacht geen cruise schepen of grote boten hier in Cambrils. Het is een toeristen locatie en alle vaartuigen hier zijn voor plezier en uitstapjes. Als je van de zee houdt, kan je een halve of volledige dagtrip maken met een zeilboot of catamaran. Wij waren wel geïnteresseerd een tochtje met een catamaran te maken maar alles was reeds volgeboekt. 

De wandeldijk naast de haven is versiert met smaakvolle straatkunst. Waarschijnlijk probeert de stad Cambrils hiermee een reputatie van klasvolle badplaats op te bouwen. Het lijkt wel te werken daar er heel wat multi miljoen euro jachten aangemeerd liggen.

Industrial and fishing activities in the port of Malaga

Although Malaga is a major tourist destination, this is not really visible in the port. There were a number of sail boats but the Celebrity Equinox was the only cruise ship. From our stateroom veranda we had a beautiful view on the beach of Malagueta and the fort of Malaga.

We were surprised to see lots of industrial activity. Not only the fisher boats that deliver their catch of the day but also giant mobile container movers and liquid storage facilities. Would this be for oil, so close to the city centre? While we explore ports all over the world, we always see different infrastructure and grab every opportunity to learn something new.

Alhoewel Malaga een top toeristen bestemming is, werd ons dit niet duidelijk in de haven. Er waren wel wat zeilbootjes maar de Celebrity Equinox was het enige cruise schip. Van op het balkon van onze kajuit hadden we een prachtig zicht over het strand van Malagueta en het fort van Malaga. 

Tot onze verrassing was er heel veel industriële activiteit in de haven. Niet enkel vissers die hun dagverse vangst uitladen maar ook reuze mobiele kranen voor het behandelen van containers en opslagfaciliteiten voor grote hoeveelheden liquide producten. Zou dit voor olie kunnen zijn, zo dicht bij het stadscentrum? Terwijl we havens overal ter wereld bezoeken, zien we altijd andere infrastructuur en trachten we steeds iets bij te leren.

Is this a whale? Art in the port of Cartagena

The port is located directly at the city centre and an ideal stop for cruise ships. It is however a bit strange to see the giant Celebrity Equinox next to small sailing boats. You get an instant feeling of the size of the vessel.

Cartagena has a wonderful walking promenade with palm trees, restaurants, museums and shops. In some places you even have outdoor art displays like a bronze thinking man, amphora’s and the tail from a whale in the dock.

De haven ligt pal aan het stadscentrum en is een ideale stopplaats voor cruise schepen. Het is wel bijzonder de enorme Celebrity Equinox te zien naast vele kleine zeilbootjes. Je krijgt onmiddellijk een idee van de grootte van het schip. 

Cartagena heeft een mooie wandelpromenade met palmbomen, restaurants, musea en winkeltjes. Op sommige plaatsen vind je zelfs kunstvoorwerpen zoals de denkende bronzen man, Romeinse wijnkruiken en de staart van een walvis in het dok.
