SCATTERDAYS NO 2.

This week the letter is 'R'.  Our categories are; mammal, technology, transport, and something Red from the sewing room.;

1. Mammal

Mammals....... I  like my pair of ceramic rabbits.

And radio is an enduring piece of technology although digital is ( I think) the latest version...or did something new sneak up while I was asleep?   And where would we be without a remote.

We all know that red cars go faster, so a little red wagon just has to be the best of the best!!

 And from the sewing room,
some luscious red fabric just waiting for transformation.

We are not sure just what it shall be transformed into as yet.

CHRISTMAS BLUES...no not post Christmas blues although maybe they are!

Before Christmas I started making Christmas blues nine patches.
I have great problems making nine patches and strip piecing.  I get everything in a knot.

So in the end I gave up and joined all the strips and cut them hither and thither.....well almost.

I made up a few squares.

Maybe at the time I thought I was going to make a cushion.  I had made two teal based embroideries that I thought I might use.....silly silly girl.

Had I just sewn strips around them it may well have worked.

Well Christmas came and went and I had this pile that was sewn together and pressed and this much higher pile waiting to be sewn from 3 strip bars into a nine patch.

Well, I did some.....then I rested,  I did a little more when there was nothing on TV.

Well tonight I finished the sewing of the nine patches.,

And what will I do with them.

I think your guess may be as good as mine.

I shall start by pressing the pile on the left and then try laying them out on my bed to see what in fact I do have.
And then!!

Watch this spot.

Cats and other issues

I heard Dr Harry say that the way you train a cat affects how she will turn out.  I proved this with Mogs 3 who died of cancer and was adorable.  Until she was sick she barely had a fault ....apart from the odd scratch in the wrong place.  She never did bond with her scratching post.

I got her at four weeks of age, so she was fully trained by me.....her Mum had been killed. Council workers saved the tiny kittens and the Vets further saved them.

But the current Ms Mogs4th, had a slightly later start with me...she had been taken home one night by one lady and was rejected......how could you???  So we were told she was needy.  She was.  She was also arboreal and super intelligent but would suckle me whenever she could  and still tries at times at night. I have to be careful as she suckles my arm that she is now not near scars....having trained her not to suckle in her first desired spot.

I had a basket in the laundry for the last two madams and both studiously ignored it.

So I felt that access to the back door was more important and moved it to the sliding door to take out to the shed and concede defeat.
Then I noticed the bedding was disturbed.
I watched.
I noticed a black furry body in my unused cat basket.
The basket is not the problem.
The location of the basket in a laundry with a door that was not glass was the problem.
I do intend to get a new door for the laundry one day and am intending to get mainly glass as the view to the garden on the narrow side of the house is worth the view and there is a screen security door as well as a 6' fence.

So the problem is solved.....the basket is being used.....and the door I use more often is now the one semi blocked.  She has compromised with it pushed to one side.

A breeder told me that only female cats have white spots on their nose!!
She also said her head was oriental shaped....and I muttered a few things about her other odd behaviors
.
Tonight we have been playing catch the cat scratch the newly covered arm chair.....and see how far the water can squirt.  Unfortunately it involves me getting up and taking action.  Threats, alas are worthless.

Shelving and storage.

the shelves made from wood left over from old temporary bessser brick and wood shelves...lightest stuff up the top.  Mogs 3 was good at finding spaces.  Mogs 4th is still waiting for me to take a crate out for long enough for her to get in and she sit and looks with longing climbing intent.

Give a cat a space.
These were the pigeon holes the guys built for me.
and always 'stuff' on top...but the crates are largest on the lower and floor levels.

I think this one almost shows the ground level.
I am so tidy!!
Not!
But on the shelf that has a box with a blue lid on it, I can see a roll of plastic coated fabric, that a wonderful friend made into a Bible cover for me.   Complete with zip and handle to carry it with.  So something has been used.

Smaller baskets can often fit on top of others.  One crate has cottons and you can see the edge of the ironing board,

I have been very grateful for the pigeon holes my carpentry guys made for me.

Wish the room was a metre wide all around.

It does not take much to amuse me

I found some unedited photos from last December and was rather amused at the altercation between Mogs and Santa.  I fear Santa is getting the worst of it somehow....a case of watch it white fellow or you will hit the dust...and quickly.
I doubt she believes in Santa although she does give and receive presents.and this year had her own stocking.

I have my stack and slash out to inspire me to create a new music one.  I made a lovely one and gave it away....doubt it was appreciated as the owner appeared to look through me when out the other day.
Never mind if you give love away and it is thrown back in your face........then being hit by love is not too bad.
I think I have enough greens and golds to go for a green theme this time.
But a few things to clean up.....well, a lot to clean up and then a lot to finish before I really should start something new.

SCATTERDAYS ONE

 W.....SCATTERDAYS.

EXPENSIVE

To me the most expensive thing in life and eternity is the wonderful Grace of God.  As I was thinking and praying last night, I wondered how much sense the reality of God meant to anyone who had either not perceived Him in creation and gone on to explore further, or to the person who has read the Bible and found in it the WORD.
The gospel of John introduces Jesus to the world, not as the baby in the manger but as the WORD.
"In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with God and the WORD was God."

Jesus came to earth as the word to interpret and live the life of God amongst us, but without sin, so that in His death He could take on the sin of the world, my sin, for which God's Just sentence was Death.
Jesus died in my place, so I could know the love of God....for there must be a way in which the love and justice of God could be reconciled.

These are old Bibles.  The print is too small for me now.  The bottom one belonged to my Father, given to him by my Mother,  CMK refers to my Mother, the middle Bible and the top one is an old one of mine.
I tried to find my Grandfather's Bible which I value very highly...his preaching Bible, but it is hidden too far in the shelves for me to dare search it out today.

 MUSICAL

LISTING OF WOODWIND INSTRUMENTS

I went to an orchestral musical concert in Hamer Hall in Melbourne on New Years Eve.  I realized I did not really know for sure all the name of the instruments as a gentleman behind was trying to identify the viola and cello
I was correct, fortunately, but I may not have done so well with the wind section.  So I am educating myself.

EXCITING

Could there be anything more exciting in my house?

WIP

OH THE SHAME OF IT!!

Alas this is my cutting table.  I cleared the floor so the carer/cleaner could vacuum yesterday and unfortunately this is my cutting table.  There is a small ironing board in red and grey there.

I grabbed an old plastic basket I originally through out of the shed on Wed, ask me why I have this super sore leg and am resting......and papers went into that.

So when I recover.....paper warfare before quilting begins again.

Poor handyman after I had stood in the centre of my brick shed (with window) and did a woman/s clean out. In fairness he would have thrown it all out anyway but was not sorting the paints etc which had to be cleared out along with all the product boxes I had kept and finally conceded had to go.  There was then room for the 11 crates of Christmas stuff and the trees to hide for another 11 months.  And I could get to my fold up table and cat crate which had been high at the back and beyond my ability to reach.  Was brave and threw three old pillows out as well.
