I have heard of hearing voices

But oh dear, it is hard when you start to hear fabric speaking to you........
so seductive.
Come ...buy me.......
I will be your friend.
See how pretty I am.

Hmmmmmmmmmm fairies in the bottom of the garden or fabrics in the crates.

some of the fossil ferns to be discontinued.

Well I just had to have a little bit..............one day they might be valuable. A collectors item.
Just for the memories...........

Some of the fossils to be taken out of production

Now I just have to have just a little .........for the memories..........

Do you think two crates, the very big ones,

are going to be enough?

I love bags

And I have very clever friends. This is one of the first bags someone ever made for me and it is till as special as it was then. It is holding some embroidered squares waiting to have set in triangles cut and another clever friend says, wait till I am around before you do it.
I am so glad I have friends....I am a jill of all trades and master of none and they do such a good job of keeping me on the semi straight and narrow.

Pictures proves I am a Tart too.
Scquilty Tarts is the Melbourne night group of Southern Cross Quilters and we meet the 3rd Tues of the month at the old Glen Waverley Primary school, where my Daddy went and I went for 2 months, and is now called Blackwood Flats and is in the grounds of Le Pines funeral grounds.
We meet at 7.30 pm on the 3rd Tues and there is usually an announcement reminder in SCQ.

Why are we Tarts. What else would you call women who go out on the town alone at night........no kids ( first baby tartlet visit allowed) and none of the other species that share our planet and walk on two legs.........and have thumbs......does that cover it??
vbg.

falling in love with a fabric

The unquilted.......as yet.......table top or quilt.

I fell in love with the print. So I played around and found fabrics to match. Unfortunately I did not buy enough of the first green, the one in the 4 patch and so the background green is similar but works.
One day I will baste this and quilt it.

You can see the green in the rail fence would have worked better all over but them's the breaks when you use a piece of fabric and make the quilt up as you go.......

The scraps went into a table runner which I have since quilted...Since the table runner has come up nicely being quilted, and would be even nicer had I purchased enough of the first green, I like this example of playing around a fabric. Sorry the quilt is not quilted and as a top does not look much.

one or two of my first quilts of love

How to put fabrics together simply using a simple shape
and then quilting it to death with in built quilting stitch.

I made this during board meetings while waiting
to have a knee replaced when the pain of sitting
was too hard to cope with by just sitting so asked
permission too quietly and unobtrusivly sew during
the meeting.....did blanket stitch around the
hearts and lowered my pain levels.

Another version of playing with soft colors and a simple shape and a new machine......and somewhat quilting to death. Did not look quite that bad.

And the front of the bag.

There is a handle.......I promise.
But it is a little hard to see against
a dark background.

See........... I told you so. And even a pretty
lining.
Now this material was of course purchased
for yours truly, but when I thought of my
friend's husband, and his possible reaction,
how could I possibly miss out on the fun.
It is one of those times when you think,
now, why on earth did I not buy two pieces.
And the answer lies in all the two pieces
that you have hidden in your stash.

Just to show I sometimes sew!

This is the back of a bag I have been finishing
for a friend, since her birthday in Sept 12Th '06

Cannot say I am not slow and careful.

I had to measure the handle. I did that I think
maybe, before the 12Th.

I think I forgot how to make a handle in the
meantime.

And that vet said I was fat!

I would like to see her lie in the sun and
lick her tummy clean.
See how white I am!

What an industrious little puss am I!

Not sure about my Ma having any taste!

Would she like a photograph of her like
this? Bet the vet would not be in it either!

I just had to try it

have only sewn the bottom one but the colors
are right........pale pink not yellow, but I cannot
seem to get the right with this light.
So now I shall have to change the colors
back to make me work on the right quilt.

But I did do one....

what will I do with that fabric?

Well, I auditioned about 4 fossil ferns and this was the right one.....so they are now cut to make nine patches.

What happens next is any one's guess. The fabric is still available on special.so I guess if I need a border it is still able to be purchased.

So much to show for a week end. Well I have done a little more but it is too secretive to go into a blog.

So patience..........

The orchids that we repotted.

I think the picture vanished in the original post.
We thought there were about 4 or 5.
They are doing to well.

Just watch me clean things up on this cutting table.

That will teach my Mother not to let sleeping cats lie...........

And I am on some of her orientals too............ha ha....

Just what could I do with these.......?

I hate to be the one to give the secret away but that is what I
overheard her saying..........

how close can I get to the centre of things

I think she suspects that present possession if 9/10th of the law, or is it just that fabric is comfortable and this is a close to Mummy as I can be and her not even know I am here until she turns around and flashes that square silver thing at me.

So I did what any sensible cat would do and cleaned my act up.

Ha Ha........she did not take a very good photo.

The mist and murk clears, the evidence is there

I have overdone the reds. vbg. They are meant to be good for your heart, like strong coffee and dark chocolate. But maybe it is the ones you drink!

I really did try to get the lid on. After all I did decide at one point that fat quarters were a silly shape, then I decided that thin quarters were not quite enough, and then half became a good size, but then if on special, why not go the whole hog?

I do admit to using some of the reds. But I must have had an anxiety attack as soon as I did for alas they seem to have increased.

I do keep them down low, as in a cellar.

Maybe a murky photo is suitable

It may go some way to hide the depth width and height of this crate which, alas, no longer wants to go back in its hole.
Does one define ones collection by the containers and size thereof, or does one just split the collection and add another container.
It is an addiction. Where is there nearest FA group?
My name is ........... I am a fabric addict.
But that involves wanting to change. How much easier to split collection into two crates.
And after all I did think I was somewhat lacking in the deep dark purples and some of the dark greens.
Oh fossil ferns, they have captured my frail heart.
And now they are cutting back the number to be manufactured.
And when will they announce those to be culled.
Will these become collectors items?
If they are a few of the gross couples of colors I shall not mourn them, but if they are shades of my favourites, my grief will be great.
Meanwhile..........on to those purples........

Another table setting.......

Not mine this time,
but a delightful Saturday dinner party.

Not great use of camera....
hands were shaking and camera was full,
so did not play any longer.

What will I do with a wadding sandwich?

Grab a bag of scraps and sew.
An iron would have made a neater job, but at least i am sewing
and at least it did not end up in the bin.
Actually it looks better than the photo shows and I was almost
proud of my 3 am creation.

It all comes from tidying up.

There has to be room for me!

And even the noise of the sewing machine did not send me away for awhile.

I wanted to be where my Mummy was, so...........I found a space.

It did make her clean up the table a little.

But it was around 3 am and she surely does not expect me to lie in bed alone.
