Isn't It Romantic?

Isn't It Romantic? by alington
Isn't It Romantic?, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Poppy Parker as Sabrina, Isn't It Romantic? by Integrity Toys.

Did you know that each of these four dolls has subtle hair and eye color variations between them?

This version is my favorite, with her deep brown eyes and nearly raven hair.

I'm always impressed when Integrity does short rooted hair styles. Sometimes they require a bit of fussing, as Sabrina's owner Carolyn, the hair queen, has done. But the effects are pretty stunning!

Tonner's new releases part I

Whee! This perhaps isn't news for those of you on Marl & B's mailing list, but I still wanted to wait for the rest of Tonner's releases to post to FDR. Of course, I have an appointment right now, if you're reading this at noon, so I'm actually missing the actual new release, but I do have some news for you now.

Update: I'm back, and I'm updating the prices and details of the dolls now.

First--a few movie releases from Tim Burton.

Above, Tim Burton's Corpse Bride Doll - Emily. Limited to 500, this doll uses the Monica Merrill head sculpt in a whole new way. She also uses the curvaceous body, lily skin tone, has blue saran hair and blue inset eyes. She's due to ship in later February. Retail $224.99.

Next, Tim Burton's Ms. Beetlejuice Doll also uses a lily toned Monica Merrill sculpt with the 16" curvaceous body. She has inset green/gray eyes, pale green rooted hair (not blonde--I think I might need this doll), and a fabulous outfit. She's in stock and retails for $224.99, and she's limited to 500.

DC Stars - 22" Batgirl 2012 - she uses the cameo skin tone on the 22" American Model body and head sculpt with inset blue acrylic eyes and rooted flame red hair. Her outfit is pretty fabulous--I can't wait to see her in person. She's gorgeous. She limited to only 150, and her retail is $324.99. She's due in mid March.

Star Sapphire is a Hermoine Granger head sculpt on a heroic 16" Tyler-tone body, with painted lavender eyes and raven hair. She includes two pairs of hands (one pair of painted gloves). Her outfit is pretty amazing, too. She's limited to 500, she'll be available to order on February 1 with shipping TBD. Retail is about $149.99.

Two new heroines are available from Marvel - Elektra uses the Renée Devereaux head sculpt on the 16" heroic body, with raven hair and brown eyes. She includes two knives, as well. She's limited to 300. Shipping to be announced, and retail $159.99.

Black Cat uses the Breathless head sculpt on a cameo 16" heroic body with blue eyes and blonde hair. She includes a black vinyl jumpsuit with faux fur trim. She also includes two pairs of hands (one gloved). She's due to ship in late March with a retail price of $159.99. Limited to 300.

I'll be updating shipping and pricing information shortly. As always--order these dolls from your favorite Tonner Doll dealer! (Sheesh--sorry about that earlier typo!)

New Barbies from 2012

Walking Suit Barbie BRFC
Angelic Dreamz has posted new 2012 Barbies that are now available for pre-order at their website.

There are two new additions to the Twilight collection: Breaking Dawn Part I Edward and Bella, who retail for $34.99 per doll, both finely dressed in wedding attire. Bella has a particularly lovely facial screening, I think. These dolls are due in the spring of this year.

Ken has a new eco-conscious car, a MINI Cooper, which is available and in stock now for a price of $39.99. While no dolls are included with this set, it's high time Ken quits mooching off his girlfriend and gets his own wheels. There's lots of great detailing on this vehicle, including side mirrors that move, MINI logos on the hood and hubcaps, and a Ken vanity plate.

Two have particularly caught my eye, even though I don't collect Silkstones anymore (I don't, I don't, I don't--and telling myself this isn't working, LOL!).

Walking Suit Barbie, shoe above, is a fun tribute to the 1950s, dressed in a slightly oversized printed black and whit houndstooth suit. The tiny upturned collar and oversized chiffon white bow add interested and class to this blond side-glancing girl. She includes a handbag, umbrella, black hat with netting (I'm sure that's what gets me), and hatbox. She's due to ship in March, and retails for $75.
Party Dress Barbie BFCM

Party Dress Barbie also caught my eye. Her brown hair is styled in a gorgeous updo, trimmed with a Tiffany-style tiara. She's dressed in a cream-colored cocktail dress with gold and lace overlay and turquoise satin bow trim, along with a matching bolero, gloves, and shoes. Her rhinestone and pearl earrings give her just a touch of elegance, without being overdone. She is also due to ship in March, with a retail price of $100.

New Holly Golightly from Integrity Toys

A new Integrity Toys line has been released, in conjunction with the re-release of the film Breakfast at Tiffany's by Paramount. The new stylized Holly Golightly doll is presented in a six different dressed dolls, all with slight variations of hair and eye color, in addition to facial screening. Extreme attention to detail and exact reproductions of the outfits (including lined clothing to prevent doll staining) went into this new line, which is available to pre-order from your favorite Integrity Toys dealer.

The dolls have a Poppy Parker-like body, which allows them to share clothes with Poppy, Misaki and the Dynamite Girls, only with a new "kitten heel" foot, without the articulated heel for better posing. All dolls stand 12" tall, with fully rooted hair and applied eyelashes, and include a stand and certificate of authenticity.

The doll sculpt is not supposed to be Audrey Hepburn, for you die-hard celebrity doll collectors out there. It is a Paramount-approved facial sculpt of Integrity's stylized version of Holly Golightly.

All photos are property of Integrity Toys, and I should state that they are promotional photos of the prototype dolls and subject to change. The dolls are scheduled to ship in the fourth quarter of this year, save one, which is yet to be announced--which should ship in September, the same month that the remastered Breakfast at Tiffany's film will be released. The dolls will be available for viewing at the Jet Set convention in October, as well.

First up is Fifth Avenue at 6 AM. Limited to 400, retail $125, the one thing that struck me most about this iconic look are the accessories. I'm a sucker for those. Check out the coffee cup and pearls! Because side seams are difficult to do in a small scale and lie flat, the dress has a back closure, but still maintains the original's  profile.

Crazy About Tiffany's is limited to 500 pieces, and retails at $125. This doll's hair is slightly lighter (with more rooted blonde). I'm most impressed by the embroidered miniature tassel fabric of her cocktail dress here. I can't wait to see it in person.

The next dressed doll is Holly as The Five and Ten, which follows the shoplifting scene in the movie. Her brown tweed dress is done in two pieces, and includes an orange overcoat, and cat mask. I love the purse included with this doll, limited to 350, retail $125.

How Do I Look? is the first of two gift sets presented in this collection. Retailing at $175, limited to 500, this set includes the white terrycloth wrap and the fringed black day dress. Additionally, two pairs of shoes, two amazing hats, two cigarette holders, and lots of jewelry is included in this gift set.

The next dressed doll is called A Girl I Know Named Holly. She retails for $89 and is limited to 500. She is shown in her sleep shirt and robe, plus her sleeping mask and tasseled ear plugs.

Finally, People Do Fall in Love is the last gift set, and it's limited to 300 pieces and retails $175. This adorable ponytailed doll (the hair does not have rooted ponytails, which will make it easier to remove them, if you are a restyler) shows Holly having to choose between money and true love. A tweed skirt, trench, headscarf, black blouse, sweater and black capris make up the fun pieces in this set. Very fun accessories as well: what impresses me most is the embroidered needlepoint luggage included in the set.

New Tonner Doll items

A late fall release from Tonner Doll, just out this morning, nine new dolls have been released. And just to show off how geeky I really am, I am going to tell you about the one I'm most excited about first:

Sam Flynn from Tron! Sculpted in the likeness of Jeff Bridges, he's available to order now and due to ship on November 15. I wish they had a close-up of his face. (My son David was Sam Flynn from the upcoming movie for Halloween this year--we made his costume with Glowire. If you haven't played with Glowire, you should.) Oh yes. He's a limited edition of 500 and retails for $174.99.

Next, Jacqueline Frost makes her debut to the ReImagination line in the form of the lovely Duchess head sculpt on Antoinette's body. She's available as a strawberry blonde Basic ($74.99 LE500) or frosty platinum dressed doll ($209.99 LE500). I adore that outfit and hair--but I just don't need another Duchess head sculpt. There is also a gorgeous outfit for her ($109.99)--check out those boots!

Then, there are two dolls added to the Clash of the Titans line: Perseus and Andromeda. Perseus is sculpted in the likes of Sam Worthington and retails for $224.99. Andromeda is sculpted in the likeness of Alexa Davalos and also retails for $224.99.

A new 17" Albus Dumbledore has been added to the newly scaled Harry Potter collection, and he retails for $219.99 and is a limited edition of 500. He has been crafted with wigged hair.

Finally, two new 8" dolls have been added to the Wizard of Oz line, Glinda and the Wicked Witch. Both retail for $99.99.

All dolls should be available to pre-order from your favorite Tonner Doll dealers, as well.

Review of Galadriel, Lady of Light (Tonner Doll) by guest blogger Milady Blue

Galadriel, Lady of Light.
We're glad to have Milady Blue posting again on our blog. Here is her helpful review of Tonner's Galadriel, Lady of Light, from the Lord of the Rings collection.

Galdriel Review
by Milady Blue
Special Guest Writer
Originally written on November 1, 2010
Oh, boy! An article written on one of the binary days! Okay, now that I have my Inner Geek appeased, on to the article.

This article is being written under the influence of quite a bit of positive prejudice. I love Robert Tonner’s dolls, I love the Lord of the Rings movies, and I love Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Lady of
Light.

So, bearing that in mind, let’s combine all three of those elements into the subject of today’s review, Tonner’s recent movie license for the Lord of the Rings movie characters, featuring Cate Blanchett as
Galadriel.

Sculpted ear detail. Click to enlarge.
Galadriel, Lady of Light by Tonner is a limited edition of 1500. She is 16" tall, using the fashion model body made famous by Tyler Wentworth, including bending wrists. She has 13 points of articulation (head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, breast plate, waist, hips and knees). She has rooted saran hair, with the Cameo skintone, the lightest natural Caucasian skintone used by Tonner, and features a face sculpt based on the likeness of Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, including the pointed Elfish ears.

New Barbie - Jane from Twilight

Barbie Collector Twilight Saga Eclipse Jane Doll will be released on March 1, 2011. Amazon (or any of your favorite Barbie dealers) will have her available for sale then. Retail price is $24.95.

She's painted in the likes of Dakota Fanning, and I've read other bloggers who believe this doll uses the Lea facial sculpt, but I'm not a Barbie face expert. You can see photos of her on the web, including this one  on the Examiner, and a full-body photo of her on the EclipseMovie.org fan site.
