Gahan Wilson Needs Your Help

Gahan Wilson, one of the funniest cartoonists ever to put pen to paper, is suffering from dementia. I have laughed and enjoyed his work in the pages of National Lampoon, Playboy, and lots of other publications for decades. His step-son is raising money for memory care for him, you can donate to the fund here. Even if you can't donate a few bucks, please share this on your social media or on your own blogs.

Gahan Wilson: Passport to World Band Radio

Some blog I was reading (I really can't remember which), led to this, which led to this interview with Gahan Wilson. From reading the interview, I found out Wilson had done some covers for a magazine called Passport to World Band Radio. Here's one of those covers. It is drawn in simpler style than most of Wilson's stuff, but is unmistakeably his.





I'm always a little behind on these things. From the above reading, I found out that Fantagraphics did a nice three volume edition of all of Gahan Wilson's cartoons for Playboy magazine.

Weird Tales

The original incarnation of pulp magazine Weird Tales was produced between March 1923 and September 1954. The magazine first published works by such notable authors as H.P. Lovecraft, Robert Bloch, and Robert E. Howard. Weird Tales was reincarnated several times after it's initial demise. One of the more successful versions debuted in 1988. Some covers from that run of the magazine are presented below. It featured stories by some of the top names in the fantasy and horror field plus covers and illustrations by some top-notch artists.
