Your turn to shine shaped card

What a fun little card I have for you today. I was flipping through Creating Keepsakes June 2009 issue yesterday when I saw an add for Melissa Francis. It was a scrapbook page with a giant circus tent on it and I thought "hey I have the new stamp set "Showtime" from The Greeting Farm that's perfect for a this. I think I'll make a tent card". And well here you go, my version of that inspiration.

Aren't the pattern papers cute?? I just love them!! They are the new line of papers from The Greeting Farm called "Sunny Glen" paper pack. They are a double sided 6x6 pack of paper (48 sheets in total). You have to check them out for yourself!!

Just incase you love it to and want to make it yourself I made a *template for you!!

*Just so you know I made this card on a sheet of 12x12 cardstock, but the template is made to fit on an 8.5x11 sheet. I don't know about you but I don't have a giant printer and wouldn't be able to print anything larger than letter size (8.5x11). Sorry it's not to scale of my original card.

Here's my template file.
Enjoy

Friends with Chocolate_ShortCuts 3D Friday

Well it’s Friday already and it’s time to post a new 3D project for ShortCuts. This one is my favourite. The window in this project is made with ShortCuts Frosted sheet. It’s perfect for this kind of application because it’s sturdy and semi-transparent. It gives you a little peek and still keeps the secret! Do you remember the Life Saver candy boxes that appear around Christmas? My husband remembers getting a box of these every Christmas from his grandmother. Well I just love the box and decided to make one that would hold any kind of candy I wanted to fill it with. I put my favourite candy inside orange flavoured vanilla kisses.

incase you want to make a box for your friend I’ve made a template for you. Enjoy

Ice Princess and Figure Skate Template

I love making paper piecings. After I made the hockey skate I knew I needed to make a Figure Skate so here it is. The hard part was making a card to go with the skate! And just in case you would like to make the skate to I made a template for you. It even has the toe pick but it's hard to see in the photo. I thought the zigzag punch would make a cool border because it reminds me of the toe pick.

And if your wondering how I made the faux stitching, well I used a tool called a "tracing wheel", sewers and seamstresses use these to mark fabric. Years ago I used this tool to make stitches by loading the wheel with ink. It would leave a little ink trail of dots. Now I just run it along paper to leave an impression and it looks like stitches without a sewing machine. Pretty neat eh?

It's my Birthday!

So since it's my birthday I thought I would share a template I've been holding onto. Why was I holding onto it? Cause I was just to lazy to digitize it so it would be easy for everyone to print and cut out. That and when I first made the skate I kinda lost it in my pile of scrap. Can you believe this...the skate has been missing for over a month!! Well I found it and was finally able to make a card using it. Don't you just love these clear cards from ShortCuts? I love making a card with multi layers without bulk of paper. I don't think this card would work any other way. Hope you like it and the template. If you use the skate and post it somewhere could you please link back to me with it? Thanks.

A Christmas Card for the School Bus Driver

My son has had the same bus driver (to school) for the last 8 years. It was just this year that he told me he thinks he has the best shool bus driver ever. So I thought he might like a christmas card with my son's compliment written inside for christmas. So I got my pencil out and drew a cartoon school bus, then I thought (before I glue everything down) that maybe someone else might like to make the bus, so I made a template. And here you go, I added the pic of the bus because when I decide to use a paper piecing template I always forget how it's supposed to look. This way it makes putting it together and deciding on colours much easier!

This template is for the bus only...driver not included!
