ShortCuts Thursday

Well it's that time of the week to show you some of my favorite ShortCuts cards.  These cards are from July.  This first card is my favorite becuse it was the first time I tried to make what I call "clusters" on a card  ( a little grouping of elements as the focus).

I find making masculin cards a little difficult.  So when I finished this card I was so proud that I managed to keep it boyish.

I'm pretty sure this card was my first attempt at creating a samp background on a clear card.  I stamped various stars and added clear jems all flowing towards the bottom of the card drawing your attention to the sentiment.

So you love clear cards yet??  I know they are my favorite to make.
Start having some fun with clear cards today... stop by ShortCuts, they are having a sale!!

ShortCuts Thursday

Wow where oh where is the week going?  While being a DT member for ShortCuts I was able to create projects with windows or clear packages and today I'm sharing my favorite 3D ShortCuts project.  The reason this is my favorite is well it was my first clear box and I was really surprised how easy it was to make.  But most of all it's because my son jumped in on the project with me.  See the yummy cupcake inside?  Well that was his creation.  After I finished the box we went into the kitchen to make cupcakes, after all what's a cupcake box without the cupcake! ha!
So this project was a family adventure.
Ta ta for now!

ShortCuts thursday

Today were going back in time with ShortCuts to show you some oldies but goodies!  I started at the beginning of my ShortCuts DT career and picked my favorite projects.  So are samples you would have found on my blog waaaaaay back in January.  The first is a Gift Card Holder except mine is anything BUT a holder containing a gift card.  It actually holds little coupons for a child.  I picked this project because I love the "compartments' that I can decorate in this folder.  Plus I love the bright bold colours.  (Something I tend to stay away from).

The second sample is a card I made using a Clear card.  It was love at first sight when it came to ShortCuts clear cards!!  I'll never be the same again! hehe.  I was brave back then, looking at the stitching I can't believe how straight it was!  I also cut circles from a Frosted  sheet to make bubbles.  So I actually used 2 products in one card, I was so pleased with myself.  Hahahah I'm to easy!!

What's up with ShortCuts??  Well check out their blog announcement here.

ShortCuts Outside the box project

Well I've been holding this back for weeks, I'm so glad I can finally show you my outside the box project. Have you seen things made by recycling ribbon holders? Well I just had to try my hand on one. I knew that ShortCuts clear sheets would be perfect for this project. The sheets are large, sturdy and crystal clear. So using the clear sheet I made my own luminarie!

ShortCuts Thursday

Gooooood morning it's thursday and I have a new ShortCuts card for you! I cut a piece of Frosted sheet with my Topnote die. It works just like vellum. I inked the edges to help show the shape and give it a ghosting image. Have you tried ShortCuts products yet? Well there's a coupon code on the sidebar if you want to venture out in creativity.

ShortCuts Thursday

Goooood morning!! Today's card was inspired by SheetLoad of Cards sketch challenge.
Using the sketch as my guide I cut the pieces of DP and digi images and assemble them (without gluing). After I was happy with the pieces I then decided what parts I would leave on the card front and what I wanted behind. Then I just attached everything to a ShortCuts frosted card blank!

Side view to show the isolated front DP pieces.

Here's the sketch

ShortCuts card Feel Better Soon

Well gooood moring all!! Today's card is a totally cased card! I loved it so much I had to re-create it pretty much like the original, only with slight changes. I made my own clouds by cutting out a cloud shape from ShortCuts clear sheet. Yes I just freehand cut the clouds. No biggie, if I screwed up I just cut another one. Basically you just cut half circles. Anyway I've taken some photos this time of some of the steps to make this card. The rest is up to you! LOL

Here's how I made some of this cards elements.
1. cut and ink clouds 2.Stamp clouds 3. Print image

4. Cut out image 5. cut out tree trunk 6. Adhere to card.

Supplies

ShortCuts clear sheet (clouds)
Whimsie Doodles -Sunny Day (tree) digi stamps

ShortCuts Picnic Basket

Well it's another Thursday ShortCuts day. I made a little clear box from ShortCuts clear sheet.
Then using the basketweave technique to make the sides of a basket. I thought it might be cute to make a "picnic" basket type container and slipped a gift card and candy in it. I decorated the front with Whimsie Doodles School Digi stamps.

I thought it was only fitting to stuff the clear box with loose leaf paper. I just cut it into small strips and crinkled the paper.

Oh if you want to know how I made this here's a pictorial for you.

Zuttter my ShortCuts!

Well I'm a very lucky girl because I have a friend who has everything and she lets me borrow her things!! This week I wanted to make a little colouring book with a clear cover and back, so I borrowed my friends Zutter machine. I started by making a card box (template from The Cutting Cafe) and I used ShortCuts frosted sheet to make the box top. That way it's a little foggy as to what's inside the box. Next I printed the NoteCut 1 also from ShortCuts and used to as a journal box for the cover.
Now as for the colouring book inside I printed digital stamps from Whimsie Doodles and cut them into rectangles (about the size of a standard card). I also cut ShortCuts clear sheets the same size for the front and back covers of my book.
Put it through the Zutter and ta daaaa I have a mini customized book!

Here is what you'll find in this fun little box.

Whimsie Doodles and ShortCuts

I thought I'd try to use the Whimsie Doodles digital "stamps" to make a digital scrapbook page. I used the Sunny Day digital stamps as my template to cut out the digital paper. When I was happy with the that I then flattened the image and added a white stroke to make it look like a sticker. I also used the NoteCut 1 from ShortCuts to frame the layout.
This is some pics of DH, DS and our dog Mirra going for one of our usual walks.

ShortCuts Thursday

Wow the week is almost over, can you believe that?? Well it's thursday and that means another ShortCuts project.
The other day I decided I should drag out my little stash of Gable boxes. I have about 6 boxes and never did anything with them. Did I mention I've had these for YEARS!!!
I saw these boxes with windows in them and thought "hey I can do that". hehe and so I did. The clear sheets from ShortCuts are perfect for this kind of project because the sheets a thick and could handle this box being stuffed full without a problem. I'll have a tutorial next week for you.
