My WiNs & nEw OrDeR...

I was so EXCITED to receive my winnings today!!!

Ginger from Primitives by the Light of the Moon had a great giveaway and I won first place. I was very excited to learn that I had won. Look at the goodies I received :)
The melting tarts smell wonderful and the tartwarmer is so cute. I have a thing for crows and on the tartwarmer itself it is written "Olde Inn Crow". How did she know??? I just love the mat with the pumpkin...it looks even better in person.

Thank You so much Ginger for having such a great giveaway!
I also made a order from Folk Art from the Harbor . I LOVE her items...she makes wonderful things for all occasions and great signs. I have made many orders from her, she has great customer service!

I am preparing for Christmas decorations and have been wanting some of her snowmen. They are the most cutest things that you would ever see. If you drop on over to her blog she has 2 free patterns that you can download for snowmen. I also have been wanting some witch boots for Halloween along with a sign of some sort. It was so hard to choose something since I like all of her things. So I decided on this cute Trick or Treat sign. I also ordered the other sign to put on my gameboard wall. I will take a picture of it soon once I receive my new gameboard that I ordered from Kindra.
Here are close ups of the snowmen...now I can't wait to display them...hehe. Not that I am rushing for winter or anything. Just excited to get decorated. Christmas is my favorite time of the year to decorate. I have decorations litteraly all over the house. A Christmas tree in almost every corner and decorations in all the other spots. I have to put away other decorations to be able to display all my Christmas/Winter ones.
We had yet another beautiful day. What a way to end the month of September. Hopefully we will have the same for the month of October. Hard to believe tomorrow will be the 1st. Time flies...before we know it Christmas will be here.

Hubby made it home safe and sound last night. He was burnt because before I knew it he was counting his sheep. It was a long day for him...being in meetings from 8am till 3pm and then hitting the road for a long 7 hour drive back. The girls were so happy to wake up this morning to find daddy home and of course me to. I hate being alone at night but I might have to get use to it. Hubby may be switching jobs by January. Which is a good thing all the way around but he would be on the road often. It is just something that will be hard getting use to since for the past 16 years we have been together everday and night. When you are use to something it is hard to change. But like I said, switching jobs would be for the better for the family and budget. He would be making almost double the salary and great benefits. Just the benefits is a plus. Right now he does not have a pension so we have to deposit into Mutual Funds from each pay just to have a nest for retirement. But with the new job there would be a pension package. That means alot in todays world. So cross your fingers but we are pretty sure hes got the job.

Well I am off to go next door and give a bath to a baby. Nothing any better then the smell of a baby after a bath. For me it's just like a scratch and sniff...lol. I miss that but at least I get a chance every once in awhile with the neighbors.

Until next time...Sandy :)

Keeping busy while Hubby is Away...

How is the weather your way?
We have been having high winds with LOTS of rain. Mind you the temperatures have still been mild. Really lucky...

Hubby had to leave over the weekend for a business trip and will only be arriving very late tonight. Since he has been gone I have been keeping myself busy trying to finish up the little things in and for Tabitha's room. Also DH started a breakfast nook a few weeks back and we left it at that. So I also decided to work on that today since yesterday I finished what I could in Tabitha's room.

We are very limited on space so I had to do my painting and staining in the kitchen since it was raining. This is a quilt rack that DH made many years back. I painted it a light purple, I know it looks pink but it is not. Tabitha wanted me to give it that old look so I sanded it and stained it. It turned out wonderful.
This is her night stand...a old table that my parents gave me again many years back. I also painted, sanded and stained it to match the quilt rack. I love it!
Purple, Pink and Lime Green goes so well together...
Here her room is starting to look like a room again. The painting is all done and the butterflies to. Even though you can not see them from the picture, they are there with their little lines to look like they are flying. It was a long project but I have completed them. Her carpet got laid last Friday and the people did a wonderful job. You can not even see the seam. The chair slip cover and quilt at the foot of the bed I made a few years back for Tabitha. When I first began sewing.

Mike still has to put baseboards, crown and her closet doors. He said he will work some more on it on Wednesday, his day off work. Tabitha is so excited!!! She LOVES her room so MUCH!
Here is the quilt rack all displayed. Everything looks all so good together. This quilt here was made by Tabitha herself. What do you think??? She did a great job! I have a little sewer on my hands :) The little painting on top was also made by Tabitha when she was 3. I bought the canvas at the dollarstore and gave her colors that were in her room and let her go at it. You can't ask for a better piece of art to be displayed in their rooms. She still treasures it today.
Once I got the girls off to school this morning I started the breakfast nook. I had to sand it a bit and then put enough coats of varnish so it will be protected from the spills. It's looking great...
We also purchased chairs a few months back to use at the nook. I got them at wholesale and they were what I wanted. But they came unfinished, that is why they were so cheap. I decided to paint them black to give that off set from the color of the cupboards and nook. This is what they looked like before I started...
And this is what they look like painted...

Now I have to let them dry and once they are dried, I will sand them and give them a coat of stain to give them that worn look.

Well I must go back to work...but of course I will check out a couple of blogs...hehe
I would really like to finish the chairs before hubby comes home. Surprise him...
I hope he makes it home tonight because I guess it is storming really bad at the bottom of the province. He is in PEI and has to cross that so very large bridge and when the weather is really bad they close down the bridge between the provinces. It is already a 7 hour drive so it could take longer. But he promised to call me once he got out of meetings. I miss not having him around and the girls to.

So until next time ladies...

~ Whatcha Working On Wednesday ~

Hello Everyone...

What a busy day we had...

Today did not feel like a Fall day at all, more like a beautiful Summer day :)

Hubby and I were busy working away at Tabitha's bedroom today and we have come a long way since we began Saturday after supper. I have a few pictures to share with you. Here you see the colors but they don't show as bright as they really are. They are two shades of lime green, which look really good together. As I mentioned before her bedroom is not Prim like the rest of my house but that is OK. I still LOVE it and most important, she LOVES it!
Mike still has to put the frame around the closet and then attach the doors. So hopefully by next week they will be going up. On October the 1st someone is coming over to install her new carpet and another person to install the crown molding. I can not wait because I am starting to go crazy to see her room all upside down and she feels the same as I.
The other project that I got myself into are the butterflies that are flying all over her room. They go completely around the entire bedroom but don't they look cute???
But this is really the big thing...I even added lines to make them look like they are flying in the air...
What do you think??? It actually looks really nice. I have completed the lower ones and called it quits for the night but will finish the upper ones tomorrow.

And then since it was such a beautiful day...once both of the girls came home from school we went to pick our pumpkins to decorate the front porch. There were so many to choose from and the girls wanted to pick them themselves...we got some really nice pictures...

There was also a really cute set up with pumpkins there. The husband and wife made a display with all their grandchildren. The pumpkin people all had names...I thought that was so cute :)
So we eventually made it home and got the front porch all decorated. I am pleased with how it looks. But mind you I think I am going to add a couple more pumpkins...but don't tell hubby...hehe...and of course my little Daisy had to jump into the picture.
Here is what it looks like at night...
What a full day we all had. I am so pleased that my front porch is all done so now we can enjoy it for awhile.

Until next time...

~ Meet my Princess's ~

The girls went and spent the afternoon at their Grandparents (in-laws) yesterday and from the looks of it had a whole lot of fun.

Here is Tabitha always striking a pose where ever she sees a camera. This is my performer...I call her my Artsy Fartsy Girl. She takes private singing lessons and enjoys it all so well. She is always involved in some sort of Musical, Play or Church Choir. She goes to competitions all the time and blows me away. As my hubby and I say, we have no idea where she got her voice from because it was definitely not us...
When she grows up she claims she will be the next Hannah Montana. I encourage her all the time because she is dreaming big but you just never know...
And then here is my Abigayle, trying to copy what her big Sis does...
She thinks her big Sis is the best thing since sliced bread. I just wish Tab would think that to. She claims that her little Sister is annoying.

Abby is my Sporto...she LOVES gym class at school and just loves playing sports.
This girl loves playing soccer, basketball, tries real hard to golf and the list goes on. She could live outside and ride her bike all day. She is also very good at Gymnastics.

It's so funny how you can litteraly have two children who do not have anything in common. Two different people with two different personalities. Here they look like they adore eachother BUT trust me living everyday life can be a struggle between them. There is alot of yelling...slamming doors and so on. But I am sure you moms out there understand what I mean. I am so not looking forward to their teen years...I think hubby is scared...LOL
Here, their Grandmother set up a tent in their over sized closet for the girls to play. Both of them always thought that was the coolest thing in the world, having a tent set up in the house. They both have spent many nights sleeping in it at their Grandparents and at home. That was one of the best gifts they ever received one year for Christmas.
We had one beautiful weekend here and hoping more to come. But sadly we did not get my front porch decorated because hubby was very busy working in Tabitha's room. Since we have been working on her room since Spring and over the Summer months it was put on hold, hubby jumped in full swing after work yesterday and all day till 4pm today because he had to leave for a supper meeting. So he told me if I was bored tomorrow I COULD paint the white trim. I guess I can...I mean he has been doing everything else. I just can't wait to get it all decorated back. And I also promised her I would paint her quilt rack and night stand...so I guess that is what I will be doing this week. ONCE her room is all put together I will make sure to snap pics of it. But I warn you all, her room is not prim...does not match with the rest of the decor of the house but it still looks wonderful. A room that I would of loved to have when I was young.

I also want to wish my baby sister, Shannon the best of luck for tomorrow. She is flying out from Montreal, Quebec and heading to France to teach for the next 9 months. She is going to be missed ALOT and this Christmas will feel extremely weird not having her here. Abigayle is having a hard time understanding that Aunt Shannon will not be able to just come and visit. Everyday she says "Mom, I miss Shannon" :( Poor thing...it will be a long 9 months for her!
I wish her the best...hopefully she will have the experience of a lifetime. Honestly I wish I could go over and visit her while she is there. But it is a bit expensive for a flight. But heih...you never know, maybe I will win the lottery...hehe
Good Luck Shannon...have fun and be SAFE! We love you and will miss you!

Until next time...

Table Runner Completed!

I completed my pumpkin table runner last night and I am very pleased on how it turned out. I had a hard time deciding on where to put it because I did not want to hide the pumpkins. Here it is completed. The more penny rugs I do, the more I am liking it.
And here is where I put it...
Today turned out to be a very beautiful day. I took advantage of it by cleaning my back deck. Preparing everything to be put away before the snow falls. All I need now is hubby to take the canopy down from our gazebo and put the furniture away. I am so sad to see everything put away because it felt like we did not get much of a summer here this year. I keep hoping that for the Fall we will get a Indian Summer. And today looked good for that :)

Well I must run and go help hubby. Finally after months of waiting, Tabitha's room is ready to put back in order. Poor thing went all Summer living in a mess and this is not like her. She takes after me where everything has to be organized. I promised here once we have her walls all touched up I will put butterflies flying throughout. She is very much excited. Don't blame the poor thing.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far...

~ I hAvE bEeN tAgGeD ~

I have been tagged by Cindy from Home Simple Home

I am suppose to list 6 random things about myself...so here goes;

1 - I worked for Scotiabank for 15 years before falling onto Long Term Disability. I have my days where I miss working but then I have other days that I am so happy to be home :)

2 - I have one brother, Shane who is exactly 1 year younger then I, two sisters, April who is 8 years younger and Shannon who is 11 years younger.

3 - My ultimate fear in life is death! I know we can not live forever but I pray to be able to live old so I can have the opportunity to have grandchildren and enjoy them.

4 - I am scared to death of any kind of bug. I know I am bigger then them but I just can't get beyond them...YUCK!!!

5 - I just LOVE to talk ;) Once when I was young, I literally talked my babysitter to sleep...LOL. My dad use to try and bribe me to keep me quiet for half an hour. Of course I never won. And now to punish me, my youngest Abigayle never stops. She is like the energizer bunny, who keeps going and going and going...LOL

6 - I have the best In-Laws in the world! There are times I hear people talk so bad about their in-laws and I just could not imagine me ever saying anything bad. They treat me as if I was one of their own children. I love the dearly!

And now I have to tag five people...so here goes...

Wendy from The Cozy Yellow House

Leslie from My Country Home

Merrie from Where the Black Birds Sing

Tammy from Country Girl at Home

Jen from Purty Girl Primitive

WOW...that was hard...I love learning new things every day about all of you :)

I finished my pumpkin runner tonight. So tomorrow I will take a picture of the final thing and where I have it displayed. As it is, I had to watch my neighbor because she was stealing it from me...LOL. I love it, it turned out beautifully.

Have a great evening and great weekend!

Some more FALL decorations :)

We are having a very sunny but windy and cool Fall day here today.
It does feel so much like Fall and hopefully it will stay this way for a bit before we get our snowfalls. All the trees have really become very colorful. The next time I go for a drive out to my parents I must bring along my camera so I can share the mountains of trees and their change in color. It is so beautiful!

I thought I would share some more Fall/Halloween decorations with you. I am pretty much finished inside. All we need to do now is decorate the outside. So if the weather holds up, we will probably get that done this weekend. I have it all planned out in my head what I want it to look like.

Here I have my candy corns and plate that says "Give Thanks" displayed.
The next photo is my hall heading towards the basement. I added a few fall decorations here along with my little pumpkins saying "Happy Halloween"
Here is my desk area...my little pumpkin sitting on the desk came from the Dollarstore. It was so cute, I could not pass it up. It holds a tea light so I put in the battery one just in case I was to forget it lit. The willow tree has little pumpkins through out it. I just love it. Sorry about the paint can under the desk, we are touching up some things that are white in the kitchen.
This one here is of a picture that a lady from our local Farmer's Market I know painted. It's just beautiful! This picture is reversible...such a neat idea because when Fall is done I can turn it over on the other side and it has a picture of shaker houses...my favorite. What is not my favorite...LOL.
Here is my china cabinet with some decorations on it and around it. Again I picked up some fall picks from the Dollarstore to fill my rusty old coffee pot. And the sign hanging on my cabinet also came from the Dollarstore. I tell ya, our local Dollarstore has some great Fall/Halloween decorations. Can't ask for anything better ;)
So that is it...thank you for coming along for my Fall/Halloween tour.

I guess the next time we decorate will be for Christmas! Although I hate Winter due to all the cold weather and snow storms but I do really love decorating for Christmas. We put Christmas Trees all over the house, including our bedrooms in which the girls love. But it is so fun to take everything out and find just that right place for each and everything. Each year I always forget what I have so it's just like having an ealry Christmas...LOL.

Thanks for all your wonderful comments and for stopping by and visiting. I always love to read what each and everyone of you have to say.

A second blog in one day! Am I sick??? Naw...

I know a second blog in one day? I must be sick??? Nope!

I wanted to make sure to share with everyone my gift that I won from Rondell over at Tomatoe Creek Prims. I had won second place in her Fall Giveaway and was so very excited! She sent it out and it was received last week. But you see I have a American address for things like this and other things that I order to sell. Makes life a whole lot easier and cheaper on shipping. So we don't go over to Maine often but I was able to convince hubby to go tonight because I really wanted my package. Thanks a million Rondell!!! I and the rest of the family love it! Now where do I put it...LOL. I am sure it will change places many times before I find it's permenant home...hehe.
I have been wanting one of these lights for a very long time and VOILA finally got one. Not sure where to put it so it will be plugged in. Not outside but inside...HUM!!! It's huge, I have to find a home for it so of course it will change places before I find that right spot.
And lastly...I completely forgot to show everyone my black cat with crow all finished. It looks so cute and was the hardest project that I took on so far. I could of maybe done something different with the witch hats but you learn from experience, RIGHT??? I also found a pattern to make candle sleeves. These sleeves are made only for 16 oz candles, so I had none to try them on but I was thinking they would make great x-mas gifts. I have two more to make. Now I know how to back stitch correctly.

Well I am outa here...
I will check back later with everyone...

~ Whatcha Working On Wednesday ~

I have decided to join in today with Leslie for "Whatcha Working On Wednesday".

I started a couple of new projects yesterday while we drove down to Fredericton to get hubby's Passport. It's a two hour drive there and then another two back. I can't sit and do nothing, it's awful! Anyways lucky guy, he is leaving for Atlanta, Georgia, October 16 for the Egg Fest (his barb-que thing) all expenses paid. So I don't blame him for not passing up the opportunity.

The two projects that I started are themed with Halloween of course :)

The first pattern I got from the October 2008 Issue of Create&Decorate. This magazine has some really wonderful patterns for just about anything and anybody. I have found some really nice penny rug patterns in this issue and older ones that I want to attempt. But this pattern is of the stacking pumpkins and it is suppose to have Friends on it but I am going to just leave as is without the writing. I think it looks great without the words. I have the stitching of the pumpkins all done which you can't see but now I need to do the faces. I am finding it to be a little annoying because the faces are so small. How can you cut so tiny??? I decided not to do that part in the car with all the bumps and winds because I knew I would loose patience. Once I have it all sewn I want to grunge up the felt just a bit to resemble a bit like the picture. It is very difficult to find felt around here so I had to make do with what I had. My pumpkins are a tad bit brighter then the pattern. But I am liking it already :)
My next project was a pattern that was shared with me by Linda from "Behind the Red Door". I want to thank Linda again for sharing this pattern. I LOVE it!!! I have all my pieces cut out and now have one pumpkin sewn on. All ready to hit the other one today. Again, talk about a hard time trying to find Orange Felt for the size I needed. I even went to Fabricville which has all kinds of everything that your looking for and of course they didn't have it but I found something else instead. It looks like felt but feels a tad bit softer. It's working just fine for my project. I am so excited to get it finished.
My little one still has the cough but is feeling much better. She didn't like the idea of missing school. She is really enjoying this school thing. But boy oh boy when she gets home at 2:30 she is burnt. Doens't take long before she is sound asleep at bed time. And I think Tabitha has fallen into the routine of being a grade 6 student quite quickly. It's hard to believe I have a child old enough to be in grade 6. My dad keeps telling me wait before you know it she will be graduated. I don't want the time to come because I want to enjoy as they are now.

Well I am to read a couple more blogs and then off to visit my friend who had her baby boy last week. Can't wait to see the little guy...I was told he is cute as a button. I sure miss that stage. I will try to sneak a couple pics of his bedroom. Everyone keeps telling me it's all decorated to my style. So I guess I will see :)

Have a great Wednesday Everyone :)

It's been a few days...

It's been a few days since my last post...

I have been busy with running errands here and there. And then my little one took sick starting Tuesday night. I decided to keep her home by Thursday, she was so stuffed up, headache, fever and really not feeling herself. Poor thing! She spent the day on the couch watching cartoons so I got busy baking and cooking. Boy did I cook...double batch of chocolate chip cookies, banana bread and my ultimate favorite banana raisin bran muffins. I have been also craving chicken stew for a few day now so I thought what better to make then stew for supper. Abigayle was convinced that if she ate stew her cold would go away. If only it worked that way...we would eat stew all the time...LOL. I don't think my hands have been this clean for such a long time. Since I get Remicade infusions every six weeks, my immune system is weaker then normal. So if I get sick, it could be worst. I am so scared to be sick that I am constantly washing my hands.

Today she is feeling much better but still a bit congested. Today at school all the parents were invited for "Hot Dog Picnic". It is a annual thing. Abby thought that was the best thing to be able to eat lunch at school with Mommy and Daddy. So once lunch was over with...back home I came to get busy making room sprays to sell and add some homespun fabric to my rustic star tree toppers. Getting ready for a sale for Christmas items. Made a few phone calls here and there to make sure I will have all my items in on time.

People have begun there Christmas Shopping alread BUT I have to admit, I have also. Since less income comes in now I need to begin early. Got my list made and ideas written EXCEPT for the girls. What do you buy a 11 year old??? I ask her on a continous basis but she always replies back..."I don't know...". I can admit that the girls are not demanding kids and they are satisfied with just about anything but I try to buy them just that right gift. But Tabitha has everything that any child would want and we are now not agreeing so much on clothes anymore. Either I like it and she doesn't or she likes it and I don't. The fun is beginning...

Tomorrow I am going to head over to a presentation about Genealogy. I just love Genealogy...have been researching my maiden name CASSISTA for well over six years now. It is very fascinating to find out your roots and where your ancestors moved, where they worked and so on. I get so into to researching and before I know it, it is midnight. Time passes so quickly but I truely love it. My mother in-law keeps telling me that I am a old soul. I should of been born 100 years ago. It would be fun to live that way but only for a few days. I love my electricity and running water to much for that. But I guess if you never had it, you don't know what your missing, RIGHT???

I hope everyone is in a safe place and far away from this horrible storm that has yet hit the United States again. I have been following the news and am amazed to how severe this storm really is. Mary from Gettysburg Homestead had to head out as a volunteer yesterday. I hope she remains safe and comes back home soon to her family. Let's all keep her in thoughts and prayers.

And lastly I want to let you all know that Becky over at Tennessee Ridge Primitives is giving away a free pattern for Fall. She offers many free patterns through out the month. I love checking out what she has and some day will attempt to make a few. I am getting better as I make more and more. So go on over to her blog and get that free pattern. She is such a wonderful person to offer this to us. Hopefully tomorrwo I will be able to post my cat and crow. I am almost finished and it's looking great!

I must sign out for the night and check out a couple of my fav blogs and hit the hay.
I would really like to head over to our local Famers Market in the morning. Before we know it, it will be closing for the season.

So have a great Weekend everyone and we will see each other again soon :)

It'S gIvEaWaY tImE...

WOW...there are so many Fall Giveaways going on...isn't it great???

Colleen from And Baby makes Five is giving away such great items for Fall. Look how wonderful everything looks! I would LOVE to win this, wouldn't you? The rules are very simple, just run on over to her blog and enter.
The next one is Lisa over at Black Sheep Prims is giving away some wonderful handmade items. I just love the stitchery. Another great giveaway that would be fun to win! Run on over right now to her blog and check it out.
And lastly Char over at The Pickled Pepper is giving away these great cinnamon buns. Don't they look real? At first I thought they were. This would make a great setting in the kitchen, don't you think? So go and check it out over at her blog.
We are so lucky to have a chance at winning these great giveaways. All three girls are just to kind.

I had a great weekend with my family. We had lots of rain on Sunday but we knew that. Instead we were invited over at my parents house for supper with relatives that are down visiting from Ontario. It is always so fun when you don't have to cook...hehe.

We are slowly falling into the routine of being back to school and now all the activities are beginning this week. There never is a dull moment! I always said that I would rather have my children busy into activities/sports then you always know where they are. And besides when they enjoy it, that counts the most.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and that the storm Hannah did not affect you all that bad.

Until next time...

Meet my little baby girl & Some Fall Decorations

I would like everyone to meet my little baby girl, Daisy :)
Daisy is my mini-poodle who is now 6 years old. We brought her home when she was just a wee thing so she has grown with the family. I actually got her while I was pregnant for Abby so she literally has grown with my Abigayle. She just got home from being all groomed. She got a wash, hair cut, nail trimming, ear cleaning...so on so on. I bet she feels like a million bucks! She loves posing for the camera...well at least that is how it looks...LOL. She is the best dog that anyone could ever ask for. She does not growl or bite. I always tell everyone if you don't like being licked by a dog then DO NOT pick her up because she will lick ya to death. Since I have been at home she follows me around the house all day. She IS my little baby girl!
I have actually been very busy these last few days. Hoping I will fall into a routine soon while Abby is in school. I need to make sure I pick her up at the bus stop around 2:30pm so I have to leave the house no later then 2:10pm. I walk down to the bus stop because we have only one vehicle and I hate keeping it every day so Mike takes it to work since he has to drive on the other side of town. It's to leave the house every day that I am not use to. I was actually going sometimes 2-3 days before I even went any where's this Summer. If I don't have to leave the house, I don't! It is a fair walk and I feel Abby is just to young to make the walk on her own since the road she gets off on is quite busy. I am dreading the idea of walking this Winter...LOL. So with trying to play catch up with everything else, I have not finished up all my little projects...decorations. But I have promised myself to get them done, hopefully this weekend since they are calling for rain all weekend.

BUT...yesterday afternoon, Abby helped me dig out some of our Fall/Halloween decorations and we began decorating. So now it's starting to look like Fall...

This little guy is fiber optic...when he is lit up he looks so cute!
Here is my Fall tree...with some decorations that I have made so far. The white sign I picked up at our local Dollarstore. I thought it was to cute and it was only a dollar!
These mini gouards were also a purchase from the Dollarstore.
See the little sheep I made with his interchangable blanket....he found a home with some pumpkins and teddy's in this great old wagon.
Sorry this picture came out so dark...I was trying to capture the wreath and our scarecrow door knob hangers.
and lastly my little straw guy...
Well that is it for now...I promise there will be more and of course we can not forget there will be the outside. I love decorating outside and have it all planned out in my head how it will look.

I hope everyone will have a great weekend and not be to affected by the Hannah storm. Stay safe!

Sandy
