Today's Flowers

It's gotten a little easier to find something to post for the memes I participate in now that all of my photos are a little more organized. I really liked these and hope you do too.

A White Rose
By John Boyle O'Reilly (1844-1890)

THE red rose whispers of passion,
And the white rose breathes of love;
O the red rose is a falcon,
And the white rose is a dove.

But I send you a cream-white rosebud
With a flush on its petal tips;
For the love that is purest and sweetest
Has a kiss of desire on the lips.

Mindblowing - My World Tuesday

I've been waiting for the roses are Descanso Gardens to bloom. They are in full bloom now and it's absolutely mind-blowing. I don't think these photos do justice to what it looks or feels like to stand in the midst of this explosion of roses. Still, I wanted to share a little of what my world is like in the rose garden at Descanso Gardens right now.

Monochrome Monday

Talk about two extremes for my Monday posts - this one in black and white and then the brightest of yellow in the next. I hope you enjoy them both.

Today's Flower #14

I hope I haven't posted these already. In case you can't tell (smile), the first one is a rose. The second and third are camelias.

Stop And Smell The Roses

Jury Duty - We're deliberating. I hope this will be over tomorrow. My head is heavy and I don't want to think any more. I almost didn't do this post but after taking a nap I feel better. Still, after this I'm going to bed. I just want to remind everyone...Life is short. Sometimes what we think we HAVE to do can wait until tomorrow.

Stop and let your finger tips feel something soft.

The next time it rains, lift your face to the sky and enjoy the feel of rain on your face.

Hug someone you love, close your eyes and just enjoy the feel of their arms around you and your arms around them.

Take a minute to inhale. Inhale deeply, relax and remember that sometimes the most precious things in life are those that we often take so much for granted. Please stop and smell the roses.

Today's Flower #11 - Betty Boop

I've already done two posts today but I'd better do this one because it's back to jury duty tomorrow so, hopefully y'all won't just look at this one (smile).

This little beauty of a rose is called Betty Boop. I think it's a good name for it, what do you think?

Today's Flower #9 - Roses

"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon-instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today.”
- Dale Carnegie quotes (American lecturer, author, 1888-1955)

White Roses

Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns; I am thankful that thorns have roses. - Alphonse Kar

A rose is an argument. It proclaims the triumph of beauty over brutality, of gentleness over violense, of the ephemeral over the lasting, and of the universal over the particular. The same rose bursts into bloom on the North Cape and in the Sahara desert. - Alain Meilland

The red rose whispers of passion,
And the white rose breathes of love;
O, the red rose is a falcon,
And the white rose is a dove.

- John Boyle O’Reilly

It is at the edge of the petal that love waits." - William Carlos Williams

Interesting bit of information from Wikipedia - The White Rose was a non-violent resistence group of students and a professor from the University of Munich that started an anonymous leaflet campaign against Hitler's regime. They were eventually captured by the Gestapo and executed by beheading. They're honored in Germany as heroes for rising up against the Third Reich.

The Rose Garden

I found another botanical garden at the University of Riverside here in Southern Cal. I kind of went crazy taking pics in the rose garden. It was beautiful, at least to me, and the aroma! Yumm! I took so many that I thought I would just post a couple of my faves and then show the other in a slide show for any of rose lovers to enjoy.
