Three Tim Holtz Birthday Cards

Hi Friends,

Disclaimer!  I'll start off by saying this post has been sitting as a "Draft" in my "Publish" file for almost 2 years - and I don't know why!  So yah, they're older stamp sets and maybe not so inspiring any more since they are so "last year" lol!!  I truly have no idea why I didn't publish it -- but anyways, here goes...

Its birthday time around here and it's the time of year when it's "boy" birthdays for several weeks -- so I'm stressing about the masculine style birthday cards I have to make.  Tim Holtz to the rescue, no one else does it better!

The first card displayed uses the cupcake from Tim's "Birthday Blueprint" set.  I stamped the design onto a sheet from TH "Destinations" paper and then stamped the cupcake again onto some Basic Grey paper scraps. I cut away the cupcake and candle pieced it onto the background. Some strips of paper confetti and words from the stamp set were added to the layout with metal brackets and brads to complete the card.

Next, from the same TH stamp set, I followed the same technique using Authentique "Celebrate" 6x6 paper pad and layered it onto white, black, then Kraft cardstock.  The metal "wish" sentiment is by "Momenta".

Here you can see where I popped up some of the paper pieces to add dimension.  I also added Crystal Effects to the candle flame.

This last card is from the same Tim Holtz "Birthday Blueprint" set, using the same papers as the cupcake above, but I used the "Present" image and paper pieced the bow.  So easy to do, and hopefully not so frilly that I can give it to a "boy" and he won't cringe!  LOL!

TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!  Have a Blessed Week!!

Christmas Card in a Box

 Hello Friends!

I made several of these "card in a box" cards with a couple different Heartfelt Creations collections -- the one I'm sharing today is with the Celebrate the Season collection.  Just a wonderful color palette and of course Poinsettias, so what's not to love??

Here's a closeups of what's inside:

The main thing to remember is to create the card first, then insert it into the clear box, and then add the frame or additional embellishments to the outside of the box so you can see how they align with your card.  Here's the card that is inside the box:
See what I mean, jelly bean?  :)

Step by step instructions are on the HC Blog today!  Check it out and you'll find lots more inspiring creations by the amazing Design Team!!

Under the Sea - New Release from Heartfelt

Hello Everyone!

Today brings an awesome new release from Heartfelt Creations - "Under the Sea"!  The colors in this collection are absolutely gorgeous! I loved this new set from the minute I got my hands on it!
Take a walk along the edge of the deep blue sea, feel the warm sand between your toes and breathe in the salty air.  Balmy breezes tousle your hair and toy with the exotic hibiscus flower behind your ear as you stoop to snatch a lustrous seashell that has been swept onto the beach with the incoming tide. Cares and worries melt away because life really is better at the seaside.  The cool, crystal clear water lapping at the shoreline beckons you and you cannot resist the sudden urge to dive right in.  Before you know it you have been submerged into a magical underwater world where you find yourself settling on a jagged reef surrounded with burnished coral, glassy seashells and mystical sea creatures more beautiful than your imagination could ever conjure.  A peek behind the coral and waltzing seaweed finds you nose to nose with a school of fish gliding every so gently with their long, graceful flowing tails and glistening scales decorated with an abundance of shimmering and alluring colors.  Delicate sea horses and magnificent jelly fish dart and flit among the dancing aquatic plant life as to entertain you with a glorious underwater show being performed just for you.  Welcome to “Under the Sea”, the newest collection by Heartfelt Creations.  This water themed assembling of magnificent papers, stamps and dies will have you creating ravishing underwater scenes perfect for documenting your seaside vacations, ocean themed altered art pieces or salt water card creations.   The tranquil color palette of calming blues, greens and teals, paired with golden yellows, subtle shades of pinks, purples, corals and reds are sure to soothe your soul.  Creating projects with a tropical flair that will “make a splash” has been made simple with decorative papers boasting mesmerizing patterns of sea shells, florals, delicate swirls and alluring hibiscus blossoms.  The intricate, detailed stamp illustrations of underwater sea creatures, glistening seashells, and exotic hibiscus flowers are sublime for shaping and creating dimensional elements adding a realistic touch to any underwater themed paper craft design.  We invite you to take the plunge and come along with us on an underwater adventure as we explore Under the Sea!

The card I'm sharing today features one of the pre-colored images of the large conch shell from the Under the Sea Paper that I die cut with the coordinating die from the release.  I used the same die to cut the silhouette of the shell from a folded piece of white cardstock to create a small shaped card. I layered the pre-colored image onto the front of the folded shape, then layered it onto one of the gorgeous card bases from the Paper Collection!  Now, if you open up the shell on the front of the card, you'll find a sentiment stamped inside!  The card opens up to lots of space on the inside for more sentiments or writing!

I also stamped and diecut three hybiscus flowers to go with it, which are also part of this new release! The step-by-step details are on the Heartfelt Creations Blog today!  There's so so many fun ways to use this set - stop by the HC blog to see all the gorgeous samples.  And -- Bonus!!  On top of that - you'll get to see work from all the new HC Design team designers for 2016!!  Awesome and amazing doesn't even describe it this month!!  See for yourself!!

Birthday Blessings Made from Left-Behind Pieces

Hello all!

For today's card, I went through my Heartfelt Creations stash of "leftovers" -- pieces and parts that I started out using but somehow they never materialized into a card or project.  Let me just confess right now that I have a "lot" of left-behind pieces to work with LOL!!

Hiding in my piles were quite a few Majestic Morning die cuts.  My at-the-time, all-time favorite (before all the new all-time-favorites followed!).  Since some were already colored a rich purple, I decided to pair them with the Italiana Riviera collection because the beautiful papers featured purples, grapevines, wine and such.

I shaped and assembled as many flowers as I had die cuts, and colored  them with Viva Decor Violet 3-D Stamp Paint.  Then I selected a card panel with a vineyard scene from the paper collection.  I decided it "must" also have some sort of  pavilion surrounding the landscape scene and went with two of the Raindrops on Roses die cuts.  All edges were aged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

It was quite satisfying (and fun!) to actually use up the pieces I had said I'd save for "another time"! Take a look at your stash and see what you come up with!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Be sure to check out the Heartfelt Creations blog where this card (with all the details), along with many more gorgeous samples from the DT are posted!

Have a blessed week!

Frog Collage Card

Hi Friends,

I have to say, the combination of the Heartfelt Creations Flip Fold Inserts and any HC collection makes these kind of interactive cards so easy and fun to create.  It's just a matter of deciding on a theme -- and off you go!  I reach for them quite a lot now, what a time-saver!

For this card, I selected one of the panel inserts from the Pocket and Flipfolds "B" package (HCFP1-434-1). This is a great package choice to have on hand to make cards (even if you're not a mini-album fan)!  I used the smallest panel in the set and accordion-folded it following the pre-scored lines.

I trimmed different papers into mats from the Winking Frog paper collection to cover each of the panels.  I didn't really even measure, I just aligned the papers next to each panel and made pencil marks where I wanted to cut them.  Obviously, you can certainly take the time to measure and you'd probably get a "neater" version than mine!

Next, I die cut several of the images directly from the papers - I just matched up the coordinating dies to the different characters and instantly had lots of fun images to work with on my card.  This is the best part of all - lots of fussy cutting results without the fussy cutting!

I also created some water lilies and lily pads and attached them with foam dots to add even more dimension on some of the panels.

The fun part was just adding all my die-cut images and my lily pad flowers to the panels and seeing the fun results come to life with very little effort!
There's just so many options and ways to use the different papers, dies, stamps and tools that HC has!  You can see lots more ideas on the HC Blog today - every one different, and each one inspiring and fun!  I hope you'll check it out!!

Lily Corsages

Hello Everyone!

I made these corsages using the Sunrise Lily Collection this week!  I really had no idea if this was going to be an easy project or not, but once I had all my materials ready, they literally took less than half an hour to assemble both of them!

I created all the lilies first from white cardstock, sponged on yellow and pink ink and used green Viva 3D stamp paint for my leaves.

I had some small craft sticks (or are those coffee stirrers??) that I used as my base. I hot glued some gathered tulle fabric onto the sticks, then added my flowers, tucked in the leaves, sprays and ribbon.  No real plan, just sort of followed some googled photos of corsages that I found to get the design somewhat realistic!  Once the corsage was assembled, I turned it over and hot glued a jewelry pin blank to the stick so they could be pinned on your favorite Mom, Easter Date, etc.!

So this turned out to be much easier than I expected and now I have plenty of lilies left over to make several more to give away as gifts! I'm also thinking it's a fun way to use up some of the other leftover Heartfelt flowers I have waiting to be used on a project!!  "Bonus!"

The specific, step-by-step instructions are on today's blog at Heartfelt Creations!  Leave me a comment if you make some too!  I'd love to come see your work!!

Sunrise Lily Frame

Hi Everyone,

Today's post features the new and gorgeous Sunrise Lily Collection from Heartfelt Creations!  I can't tell you how much I love this new flower!  It is simple to color, easier than ever to assemble and the 3-D effect is crazy beautiful!!

For my project, I used a yardsale-find frame that I cleaned up a bit.  I covered the inside display area with a card panel from the Sunrise Lily Paper Collection and stamped my sentiment.  From there it was just a matter of inking up the lilies, die cutting the pieces, and assembling them on my frame.

You can find all these HC Products that I used on this frame at Heartfelt Creations:
HCDP1-263 Sunrise Lily Paper Collection
HCD1-787 Sunrise Lily Die

Flipping Owls!

 Hi Friends,

Can't help but have fun with the adorb "Sugar Hollow" collection!  For my project this week I used one of the Flip Fold Inserts that Heartfelt Creations now carries and it could not have been easier to make a fun tag-holder wallet card!

HCFP1-433-1

I started with the Flip Fold piece from the HCFP1-433-1 package in black.  I covered all the sides with patterned paper from the coordinating Sugar Hollow Paper Collection.  Before gluing down the patterned paper on the inside panel and flap, I added magnets so that the flap would stay closed when folded.  It gives the card a nice and fun finish!

Next I die cut circle pieces from black cardstock and images from the paper collection to add to the flap closure.  On the front side of the circle, I stamped the round sentiment that says "Who's Thinking of You"

I made a custom tag by tracing the depth and width of the pocket area onto more of the patterned paper and covered the tag with the image of little owls from the paper collection.  Then I stamped the "I am" above all their heads.

I stamped one of the owls from the "Bungalow" cling stamp set and colored it in with Copic Markers, then die cut it out with the coordinating die.  I stamped and die cut some small flowers and leaves from the Birds and Bloom collection to add to the card and just finished by decorating with pink rhinestones.

Yep, it was that easy!!  I didn't spend any time at all measuring and scoring and trying to figure out how to make the interactive element of the card work!  It's magic and so much fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Have a blessed week!!

Brand New Sugar Hollow Collection!

Hi Friends!

It's always the most fun time of the month when I get to introduce another brand new collection from Heartfelt Creations!  This one will bring a smile to everyone's face!  Come check out the "Sugar Hollow Collection"!

"Heartfelt Creations invites you to enter the sweet and magical world of Sugar Hollow! Make the acquaintances of an adorable family of wide eyed and lovable owls who inhabit the beautiful and enchanting forest like surroundings. Each of these darling and delightful feathered friends comes with their own special personality and they are sure to find a soft spot in your heart! The sugary sweet color palette in this collection lends itself to adding a bounce to your step and and a happiness to your heart as you create with cotton candy like pinks, ribbon candy stripes, peppermint greens as well as several shades of confectionary grape lollipop like hues.  A whimsical assortment of beautifully illustrated stamps showcase images of ornamental bird houses, lovely trees and a wide selection of owl images which can be used to design for a wide variety of occasions. The fun and witty sentiments included add a playful charm making this a collection that will appeal to crafters of all ages.  Whether you wish to remind a friend or loved one how special they are and that you think they are "a hoot", or send an any occasion card just because "It's Owl Good", this sweet and light hearted collection is sure to brighten someones day and bring a smile to their face!"

To make my card, I followed a tutorial I found on Pinterest - there are several different versions out there and I chose to do one that uses extra "tabs" to anchor the interactive section to the inside.  Some tutorials will have you cut away your panel to anchor it, both work equally well I think.

My step by step instructions with measurements can be found on today's Heartfelt Creations blog post (look for photos of my card!).

Don't forget to pop by the Heartfelt Creations Blog to see much more of the collection on display!!  Emma Lou's video introducing the collection is a great resource of inspiration as well!
