Monthly Challenge- "Let's Get Weird"

Our last challenge was to get really creative and challenge ourselves to unconventional/recycled elements and also to make a piece for the head or arm. We have a fun tiara entry for you this month!

"Street Pieces Tiara"

a lockwasher, swooped and coiled rusted wire and the neighborhoods emu freshly shredded feathers.

Monthly Challenge July- "Chain, Beads and Texture"

Our July challenge was to use chain, beads and texture in any type of jewelry piece we liked. I think you are really going to enjoy our entries this month!

This is an etched bumble bee that was an epic fail. I pulled it out of my scrap bin and repurposed it for myself ! This is a small brooch that I intend to use as a top button on my shirts. Garnet and citrine beads.

PROTOPLANETARY DISK - 32 inch copper bead chain link necklace - cold connected

Turquoise Milagro Heart pendant necklace : There is a leaf roller printed on the backside and stamping on the front for texture. Turquoise nugget beads have been added to the chain. All sterling silver, with a fine silver hand carved scalloped bezel. The pendant is 2" x 1-1/2" in size, 18-20" chain.

Homecoming Necklace - Luna Agate & Freshwater Pearls - Handmade recycled sterling silver chain with textured hydrangea links and closure. Fine silver bezel with recycled sterling silver backing. Oxidized.

This piece started out as a hoop earring! You never know on my bench what a piece will evolve into, but I usually like it.

Asymmetrical Textured Sterling , Rolo Chain and Pink Tourmaline Bead Earrings.

August Challenge

FIRE
It's August and so hot so lets embrace the heat and design a piece worthy of this element. Some examples could be a fiery gem, flame bezel or your interpretation of the blistering sun!

What's New!

I found a few etsymetal team members this week who are hard at work in their studios rather than taking a mid summer break at the beach, cabin, or the inlaw's...

May 2014 ~ Jewelry Challenge ~ Work In Progress

The EtsyMetal Team Jewelry challenge this month is "Work In Progress". Our team member participants were challenged to show a process picture along with a picture of the finished piece.

Your comments and questions are always welcomed.

Enjoy these beautiful creations!

I thought you might like to see some of the steps involved in making my copper and bronze branch sculptures. These end up being small lightweight sculptures that can be displayed on a flat surface or hang on the wall.

I start by cutting and texturing bronze strips.

In the meantime, I’m also working on the leaf forms. In this picture you can see copper maple leaves that I’ve hammer textured and partially shaped.

These are ready to photograph, hang, and sell!

I started to experiment with delft clay casting. I began practicing with antique buttons that I thought would make nice charms. I made the mold in the delft clay, melted the silver in the crucible, and poured it into the mold. Then magically a silver button appears!!! Just to fun!!! I also made a silver sheet ingot to roll out in the rolling mill.

i made a warrior princess cuff.
i started with measuring and cutting pieces, and filing proper angles.

here's a picture of the soldering taking place-

Rough filing has been done on the top surface. Now I've got to do the inside and the angles.
