Our challenge for May was to take a walk and pick up some found objects along the way. You never know where you'll find awesome supplies for jewelry!

Etsymetal Finds - My Taste Test

I just recently took Etsy's "taste test" for the first time and now I understand why it's so addictive!!! WAY better than "items you might like"!!!! It's uncanny how many of the taste test items I just love. Here are a few I found today.

I also created a Treasury with all these items. There, you can check out all these great pieces from fantastic Etsy shops! Check it out, click around and add these great pieces to your favorites!!

Etsymetal Finds - hartleystudio finds

This week, instead of a traditional theme, I chose pieces I have fallen in love with over the years. Some are recent, others are from a long time ago. All are from fantastic Etsy artists. Enjoy!

Goin' on a Picnic

It's a beautiful day here at Hartleystudio! Weather's fine, not a cloud in the sky. I think I'll pack up a picnic and head out to our favorite spot. Today's finds are all things I wish I could take along with me.

Thanks so much for looking!! Have a great day...see you next week!

Etsymetal Finds - Ruby

It seems I'm obsessed with rubies and all things red these days! I love the richness of the hue and how red livens up everything! Maybe it's because we have had so much rain these last few weeks or maybe it's because I'm thinking of my friends with July birthstones. Either way, here are a few of my favorite finds this week in ruby red.

Spending the night in...

Last Friday night, my inlaws had my kids over night and my husband was busy with a project. This left me all alone in our very quiet house. I lit a candle, settled down with my ereader and a good book and relaxed, all by myself.

EtsyMetal Finds - Lights

Lights doing it to me. At nights when I am doing my daily walkings I am fascinated by the lights coming out the windows. I always walk with my eyes up trying to catch what is lightening inside....
No wonder why sometimes I collide with lamppost on the street....
It is so fascinating that I go out at night with my camera and trying to catch the city lights in the middle of the night.

Etsymetal Finds - Thank goodness for spring

Here at Hartleystudio, I thought I was going to go mad if spring didn't arrive pretty soon. Even though in Illinois the weather is giving us one last cold blast...there are buds on the trees and daffodils blooming. It is a relief to my eyes after so many months of gray skies and lifeless flora. With the arrival of spring, I am thinking and searching for handmade items that speak of new life and renewal.

Etsymetal Finds - My new short hair

Last week I cut off most of my hair. My new short haircut has me rethinking my accessories. I love scarves and, with such short hair, they look particularly nice. Paired with statement earrings and wonderful, whimsical hair pins I have a bold, chic look.

Etsy Metal Finds

With the start of hurricane season, and the impending Hurricane Earl threatening the East Coast, it's no wonder nature's scary and destructive, albeit fascinating, phenomenon is on my mind.

Etsy Metal Finds

I was browsing through Etsy drinking a refreshing glass of water which gave me an idea for a search. L'eau, agua, d'acqua, vatten, ... we all crave it, we're all made mostly of it, and I'm really wishing I could go visit a large body of it...

School Days

My kids went back to school this week. If the kids in your neighborhood haven't already started, they will soon! I dread having to fork out the money to buy all the needed school supplies, but it doesn't seem so bad if I can get things that are pretty, functional, and might last a while (maybe until next year!)

Crepe Myrtles
One of my favorite things about spring and summer are the constant colorful foliage that fill my yard and my neighbors yards. I have the wonderful privilege of living across the street from two very large crepe myrtles that have recently come into bloom. So, it's not a wonder why the ruffly, pink flowers are on my mind...

Etsy Metal Finds

One of the most pervasive icons of summer seems to be the moth. They flutter by, in search of light and a mate, with only a short time to live. Moths range drastically in size and nature, but they all seem to share that bit of magic that comes with being night dwellers. May the moths in your life be beautiful and bright!

Etsy Metal Finds

Summer has finally arrived in the Northwest. While other parts of the country were suffering through heat waves (and still are), our summer doesn't 'really' start until after July 4. That's the story, anyway. And all this heat gets me thinking about....the beach! Oh, to lounge seaside listening to waves, shrieks of laughter (or because the Pacific Ocean is so cold!), and feel the heat of the sun.
Of course, one would need.....

A lovely beach towel....

A striking bathing suit....

And some great shades.

One of the things I love about spring is the Peonies that bloom all around. There are so many different varieties--some you may not even realize are peonies until you look at the actual plant itself! Here are a few lovelies from over on Etsy. Enjoy!

Etsy Metal Finds

Today's Etsy Metal Finds are inspired by summer. Here in Portland, we have been having record rainfall and low temperatures for the past 2-3 months...it's now the end of May and we're all hoping for the sun to come our way! May your days be filled with joy and sunshine...

Etsy Metal Finds

My dearest apologies for my absence of late! With spring and summer comes a flurry of activity--it seems the people of the Northwest are coming out of hibernation :) Sometimes in these dreary spring days, we all just need a splash of color!
