CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #110

Hello there! I'm a little late posting this (I think the deadline is tomorrow), but I wanted to share a card I created for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.

Here's the sketch:

I went super CAS for this card. Not a lot of product, but the pops of color work nicely against the white background. I used an angled strip of Papertrey Ink's Hibiscus Burst patterned paper at the bottom, then added a Simple Stories I Am chipboard frame on top. The "happy birthday" sentiment is from the February Studio Calico card kit (Cirque), and the "Oh Happy Day" badge is from Freckled Fawn (I think). I also trimmed the card down to 4x5.5 inches, instead of the standard 4.25x5.5 inches.

The hot pink, black, and white with just a little bit of aqua and yellow is such a fun color combo.

That's it from me tonight. Thanks for looking!

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #105

Hello, hello! I pulled out one of my recent Studio Calico boxes and worked with the stamp set from the add-on Waldorf. The cute little bear is waving, and perfect for a "hello" card. I used this sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch:

I stamped the bear in three colors from Papertrey Ink: Limeade Ice, Hibiscus Burst, and Aqua Mist. I added gems (Hero Arts) to the center of the scarf on each bear, and used pink letter stickers, also from Studio Calico, to the edge of the card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #104

This week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge is up and I had a little time last night to play along. I pulled out my Chickaniddy Crafts box and used some of the Jolly Good collection for my card.

Here's the sketch:

The floral patterned paper, text patterned paper, and Merry Christmas label are all from the Jolly Good collection. I used the Doily Detail die from Papertrey Ink for the green cardstock, and some buttons from my stash.

The kids and I are off to The Festival of Lights tonight. I love this time of year, but it's still hard for me to get into the holiday spirit when it's 74 degrees outside. I'm not complaining... the weather is absolutely gorgeous, but I still think "snow" when I think of Christmas.

I posted some of my December Memories pages on my blog last night. You can see them here or scroll down.

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #98

Happy Halloween, crafty friends! The boys just got home from school and I have a few minutes to post before we head to Publix to trick-or-treat. Evan and Jack are going as a Creeper and a Steve from Minecraft and the excitement is pretty high around here. I think they both consumed ridiculous amounts of sugar at school and they are bouncing off the walls. Hopefully no one melts down before the trick-or-treating actually starts!

For today's CAS(E) this Sketch! card I pulled out Stampin' Up's Into the Forest stamp set and my Copic markers. The little animals are so cute, and I created a mini scene on my card front. I used Papertrey Ink's Double Ended Banner die and stamped Paper Smooches' Sentiment Sampler for the sentiment.

I also want to wish Heidi, from Chickaniddy Crafts, a very happy birthday! The entire design team created cards to celebrate her special day. Here's mine:

Happy Halloween and have a fantastic weekend! Thanks for stopping by. :)

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #97

Good morning! Today I have a card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge:

I was inspired by this card (by Erin Lincoln). I like the bright colors paired with black glitter stars. I pulled out my Paper Smooches stars dies, and die cut them out of black cardstock. I used my Wink of Stella pen to color the stars, giving them an awesome shimmer. I let them dry over night before assembling my card.

That's it for me today! Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #94

Good morning! I am thrilled that Christine at CAS(E) this Sketch asked me to be a guest designer for her this week. Of course I said yes!

Here is this week's sketch:

This sketch offers so many possibilities! Rather than cutting strips of paper or stamping vertical lines, I used a butterfly stamp from Papertrey Ink's Life is Beautiful stamp set in Avery Elle's Aquamarine ink layered with a die cut from vellum. I layered a button on top, then added a banner and sentiment from Wplus9. The gems are from Hero Arts. I've used the Life is Beautiful dies over and over, but this is the first time I've used the matching stamp set. I need to pull it out more often!

Thanks to CAS(E) this Sketch for having me this week! Thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #93

When I saw this sketch for the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge, I immediately thought of Papertrey Ink's Be Happy stamp set. It has the perfect sized square stamp (and matching die), butterflies, and cute accent flowers.

I pulled out my Impress Fresh Ink (pigment) and my Avery Elle pigment ink for my card. I wanted my card to be bright and colorful, but maintain a clean and simple feel.

I used both border stamps from Be Happy and stamped them in AE's Lemongrass and Aquamarine. I stamped the flowers and frame in Impress Lemonade and Melon ink. I cut the butterfly from PTI's Limeade Ice polka dot paper and vellum, then layered them on the front of my card. I added a sentiment from Waltzingmouse and gems from KI Memories.

That's it for me tonight! Thanks for stopping by. :)

CAS(E) this Sketch! | Challenge #92

Happy Friday, friends! I hope everyone had a nice week. We are getting into a great routine and this week was so much more relaxing than last week! I'm still trying to figure out a good work vs. play balance, and it's so easy to get sucked into surfing the web for hours... but I'll get there. Transitions always take time.

I had a chance to create a card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge

I used Papertrey Ink's Scrolling Script stamp set for the sentiment, which I heat embossed with American Crafts' Zing in Aqua onto a vellum banner. I created the banners with Papertrey Ink's Banner Builder dies, and the chipboard hearts are from my Freckled Fawn Oh Deer Me August kit.

My favorite part of this card is the super cute mini epoxy hearts. I picked these up as an add-on from Freckled Fawn this month, and they are adorable! I think the package was $2.99 and it comes with 242 heart stickers.

The patterned paper that I used, for the background and the banners, are from Heidi Swapp's 6.5 x 4.5 Hello Today paper pad.

That's it for me today! I'll be back tomorrow with a card for next week's Retro Sketches challenge.

CAS(E) this Sketch! | Challenge #90

Before I share my card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge, I want to introduce everyone to the newest member of the Taylor family... Bailey!

We adopted Bailey from a local shelter yesterday afternoon. She is a little timid, and definitely needs a trip to see a Vet (fleas, ear mites, and the incision from being spayed looks infected...), but I hope that once she's feeling better that she will be a great addition to our family. The boys adore her already, and the other animals (Rocket our Cockalier, and Lilly & Gabby our rescue kitties) aren't too upset by her. Lilly has hissed a few times, but Bailey doesn't seem to understand that is a "back off" noise... she just walks right past her! It's pretty funny to watch all four animals interact.

Here is the sketch I'm working with this week for the CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge:

I have a couple of dies that create a tilted square/rectangle, but I ended up cutting this one with my paper trimmer. After I trimmed it down, I used Papertrey Ink's Embellished Elegance stamp set, plus ink by Memento Luxe and Avery Elle, to stamp the white panel. I used Label Love from Altenew for the sentiment and the enamel dots are from My Mind's Eye.

Avery Elle's Lemongrass ink matches Papertrey Ink's Limeade Ice perfectly, so I used Limeade Ice mini polka dot patterned paper for the background.

We are off to a barbeque (hooray for three day weekends!). I hope everyone has a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch! | Challenge #89

Hello, hello! Today I have a card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge

Once again I pulled out my Country Fair Make it Market kit (LOVE this kit!), and used the big Ferris Wheel stamp and die as the focal point. The paisley/cherry/floral patterned paper and sentiment are also from Make it Market kit. The yellow patterned paper is from Papertrey Ink's Harvest Gold patterns pack.

I have been working like crazy in my office creating projects for the September Gossamer Blue release... and I can't wait to share them with you! Less than a week until the reveal! The September kits are gorgeous

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

CAS(E) this Sketch! | Challenge #88

Happy Sunday, friends! Is anyone else gearing up for the first day of school? Evan's first day is tomorrow and Jack starts kindergarten on Thursday. We've had a wonderful summer, but the past week has been a challenge... so. much. bickering! I can't wait for them to be in school! We need a little separation from each other. :)

Today I have a card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge

I combined products from several different companies for my card. The butterfly stamps and dies are from my favorite Hero Arts sets: Butterflies 3. I have used this set so many time... you can see my other cards using it here, here, and here. I colored each of the butterflies with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers, then applied wide double sided tape to the top of each butterfly. After I trimmed around the butterfly, I peeled the backing off the tape and applied some clear Martha Stewart glitter. I've found that this glitter works best for this technique. It is transparent enough for the ink and marker to show through, but it leaves a really great shine.

The patterned vellum is from Studio Calico's South of Market collection, and I'm hoarding it like crazy. I love the pattern, and it works great on so many projects!

(Supplies - Stamps: (Hero Arts) Butterflies 3. (Papertrey Ink) Wonderful Words Additions. Dies: (Hero Arts) Butterflies 3. (Papertrey Ink) Wonderful Words. Ink: (Memento) Tuxedo Black. Cardstock: (Papertrey) White. Vellum: (Studio Calico) South of Market. Impression Plate: (Papertrey Ink) Linen and Canvas. Markers: Copic & Spectrum Noir. Gems: Hero Arts. Button: October Afternoon. Other: Twine.)

Check back soon for this week's RetroSketches challenge (and card!).

Have a great week!

CAS(E) this Sketch! | Challenge #87

Hi there! Today I have a card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge, which is actually a combined challenge with Tag You're It. I just picked up a pack of adorable tags from Crate Paper's Notes & Things collection, and one of the tags was perfect for a card. Here is the sketch for this week:

I used some fun chevron arrow patterned paper from my stash and combined it with a tag from Crate Paper. The stamped sentiment, Congrats, is from Studio Calico's Antiquary card kit. I added some white and gold twine, sequins, and gold enamel dots to finish off my card.

When I was initially adhering the tag to my card front, the twine was too bulky and the card looked a little off. I ended up using foam adhesive to attach the tag, which worked so much better. The "happy for you" was pre-printed on the tag and create the perfect sentiment for my card.

The boys only have eight days of summer vacation left before school starts again. Evan is just starting to realize that daily trips to the pool, endless hours of xBox and Minecraft, and staying in our pajamas until noon is about to end. We are going school supply shopping on Thursday, and I'm ordering new backpacks for both boys this week. For the first time in 8.5 years I will have the house to myself for 7 hours each day. It is going to be so strange (and quiet!) with Jack and Evan in school full time. I am excited for the new adventures this school year will bring to them, but it's going to be an adjustment for all of us as we navigate new routines and expectations.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #85

Happy Friday, friends!

Today I have a card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge:

I didn't follow the sketch exactly, but it's close. :) I used two stamp sets from Papertrey Ink: Summer Sweetness and Background Basics: Diagonals. The flower button is from Crate Paper, and the sequins are from my stash.

I'll be back tomorrow with a card for RetroSketches, and on Sunday with next week's Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge card. See you then!

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #82

Happy Friday, friends! Today I have a card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge

The little monster on the sketch is too cute. :)  But after playing with Friendly Flowers earlier this week, I wanted to create another card with this fun set. I stamped the flowers with Memento Luxe Lilac Posies and Rose Bud ink, and the background (PTI's Background Basics: Venice) with Papertrey Ink's Soft Stone ink. The leaves were stamped with Memento Luxe Pear Tart ink.

I'll be back tomorrow with next week's RetroSketches card. Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #80

Hi there! Today I have a card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge

Last week I took a trip to Whim So Doodle in St. Petersburg with a dear friend of mine and I picked up a 6x6 paper pack from Webster's Pages' Our Travels collection. The soft blue, red, yellow, pink, and gray colors are beautiful together, and I used one of the small flower patterned papers as a background on my card.

The center strip of patterned paper is Papertrey Ink's Tropical Teal patterns pack, and the "hello" die cut was cut from PTI's Wonderful Words: Hello die and Stampin' Up's Poppy Parade cardstock. The gold "you make me smile" sticker (which was blown out by my flash!) is from Chic Tags.

To give the "hello" die some dimension, I die cut it four times from Poppy Parade cardstock, then adhered them together before adhering the stacked die cut to my card. The three flowers/dies are from Wplus9's Fresh Cut Florals stamp set

Thank you to Tracey and Jen for the wire cutting suggestions... it looks like I need to purchase wire snips! Hopefully that will solve my problem. :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

CAS(E) this Sketch | Challenge #79

Hi there! I have a new card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge. I pulled out Papertrey Ink's Doodlie-Do stamp set and my Copic markers to create a one layer(ish) card.

The flower and leaf images from Doodlie-Do are intricate, and I wanted to showcase this beautiful set with some simple monochromatic coloring. I used a variety of blue, teal, and aqua Copic markers. After I finished coloring, I added enamel dots to the center of each of the flowers, the largest leaf, and a few small circle accents on the large flower. I used Ranger Archival Jet Black ink for the sentiment.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Papertrey Ink) Doodlie-do, Embellishments. Ink: (Memento) Tuxedo Black. (Ranger) Archival Jet Black. Enamel Dots: My Mind's Eye. Markers: Copic. Cardstock: (Papertrey Ink) White, Aqua Mist.)

This sketch has a very graphic look, but I love these flowers and I think they work well here.

That's it for me tonight! Have a wonderful week.

CAS(E) This Sketch | Challenge #78

Once again, it is hours past my bedtime and I can hardly keep my eyes open... so this post will be brief!

I played along with this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge, creating a CAS card using three(!) different stamp manufacturers. Here's the sketch:

The paint splatter stamp is from a Studio Calico card kit... from last year? I'll find a link and post it tomorrow. The paint brush is from Paper Smooches Just a Note set, and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Happy Trails stamp set.

I used eight PTI inks for my card (top to bottom): Summer Sunrise, Raspberry Fizz, New Leaf, Aqua Mist, Limeade Ice, Berry Sorbet, Hawaiian Shores, and Hibiscus Burst. After I stamped the paint splatters, I found matching My Mind's Eye enamel dots to finish off my card.

I'm off to bed. Have a great week and thanks for looking. :)

(CAS)E this Sketch | Challenge #72

I received Papertrey Ink's new Button Stacks dies last week and I've been itching to play with them. Specifically, I wanted to try covering them with clear embossing powder for a shiny look. This week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge had me pulling out these dies to create three shiny buttons. Here is the sketch:

And here is my take. I die cut the layered buttons from Papertrey Ink's Limeade Ice, Melon Berry, and Harvest Gold cardstock. After I adhered the layers together, I covered the button with VersaMark, then coated it with clear embossing powder. After I heat set the button, I repeated the embossing process for extra shine. I love, love, love this look! Aren't the buttons adorable? I already have the Bitty Button Stacks dies on my wish list... I'm just waiting for them to be restocked! I also used green and pink buttons from Studio Calico, enamel dots from My Mind's Eye, and puffy hearts from Twine & Ink to embellish the rest of my circles.

That's it for me today! Have a wonderful weekend. :)

CAS(E) This Sketch | Challenge #70

Hi there! I have a super simple card to share for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge

I am loving last month's Studio Calico Sugar Rush kits... both the scrapbooking and the card kit have been pulled out a lot lately! I especially love the colored plastic hearts. So, so awesome. The letter stickers are from October Afternoon and the enamel dots are from Twine + Ink.

Do you have a kit that you reach for over and over again? I am so going to be so sad when Sugar Rush is gone... it's been a lot of fun to work with.

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch | Challenge #68

Good morning! I have a card to share for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge.

My new Lawn Fawn supplies are still sitting on my desk, so I decided to create another card using Penelope's Blossoms and paper from the Let's Polka 6x6 pad. I also pulled out my March Simon Says Stamps card kit, which includes coordination Lawn Fawn paper. The "Happy Birthday" stamps are from the November 2013 Simon Says Stamp card kit.

(Supplies - Stamps: (Lawn Fawn) Penelope's Blossoms. (SSS) November 2013 Card Kit. Dies: (Lawn Fawn) Penelope's Blossoms. (PTI) Limitless Layers Ovals 3.5". Cardstock: (Bazzill) Pink. (PTI) Harvest Gold, white. Ink: (PTI) Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, New Leaf, Harvest Gold. (Studio Calico) Blush Crush. (Memento) Tuxedo Black. Sequins: Lawn Fawn. Gems: Michaels.)

Check back tomorrow for my card for this week's Paper Smooches Sparks challenge! Have a great weekend. :)
