NEW Prima Winter CHA 2015: Bella Rouge Collection {Layout}

Good morning everyone!

As most scrappers know, Winter CHA is just around the corner. Which means all of our favorite companies are showing us their latest must-have collections and goodies! Prima, as always, has a fabulous lineup of products for us. They've been previewing over the last few weeks, and today I'd like to share with you a layout that I created featuring the new "Bella Rouge" Collection.

"Natural Beauty"
Not only is this collection absolutely classy and beautiful, but it's incredibly versatile too. And I am in love with the rich, warm color palette! On this layout, I started by toning down the background just a bit with some gesso. I then watered down some gesso a bit and used a paintbrush along with some very high tech flinging motions {insert sarcasm here} to create the random splatters. There are some new Color Bloom sprays released this time around as well, one for each collection. I've used {2} of them here: Empres Gold and Deep Teal.

Each collection offers a range of new flowers too- including these roses. I LOVE roses- they are always my favorites of the Prima flowers- and you get such a great selection of them here. I've dressed these ones up a bit with some of the new Prima Art Ingredients: micro beads, seed beads, and glitter.

I may have mentioned in the past how much I love that the new wood icons are printed. This mirror piece here was great for adding my own touches to :) Behind the lovely lady you see one of Jamie Dougherty's new Bloom Collection stencils- isn't it awesome?! And some "Empress Gold" Color Bloom spray.

More new flowers and leaves, as well as one of the new collection brads. Perfect for that extra special little touch!

"Strawberry Fields" Layout for Webster's Pages!

Good morning everyone! Believe it or not, I'm up with a new post today. Things are winding down for me here after 6 long months of canning after continual foraging and harvesting. It's getting colder and winter could arrive at any moment...it's always a mad dash to get everything settled before we find ourselves under snow.

But I have been creating, I have! :)

I had the pleasure of using a gorgeous collection from Webster's Pages which I hadn't yet had the chance. It was released just a little while back and is called "Strawberry Fields". It is just stunning! If you love it too, you can find it {HERE}.

"Do You Suppose She's a Wildflower?"

I love the cheerful colors of this collection and the fabulous country summertime feel of the patterns. I thought they paired nicely with this photo of my daughter feeding the chickens.

I added a bit of fussy cutting, as well as some strips of the "Woodgrains Vellum" from the collection beneath my cluster here (the yellow patterned piece), as well as the strip directly above my photo. I've also used quite a few gorgeous Prima flowers, many new releases.

The various ATC cards available for cutting out with this collection make for great titles too! I love it when a collection allows me that luxury, rather than having to dig into my letter sticker stash to create my own. And I especially love when I can then use a title that I may not have thought of, yet fits so well, as in this case :)

Thank-you for stopping by today! I appreciate your visit :)

Two Projects for Blue Fern Studios

Good morning! I hope that your Christmas went well and that you're getting ready to welcome in a new year :). I'm stopping in today to share some classy Christmas cheer with you all, as well as a sweet and simple project too~ both for Blue Fern Studios!

"Let it Snow"
Blue Fern Studios has released some beautiful holiday themed chipboard pieces over the past month or so, as well as some wintry ones as well- simply perfect for this time of year! The "Let it Snow" set includes the title piece and snowflake you see here, as well as a tree and some additional snowflakes. A must-have!

For the frame I first primed with gesso before applying embossing ink. I then sprinkled on some sparkly white and gold embossing powders as well as some glitter and then setting with a heat gun. The snowflake was treated with white embossing powder and set. Finally, the title piece was stamped with chalk ink and sealed with some glossy accents.

Ever After Frame Set

Other Products Used:
Webster's Pages "Royal Christmas" Collection papers
Prima Marketing flowers and bling

Next I have a sweet and simple card for you!

"A Very Good Life"
I love the "Winter Page Dangles", and I have been envisioning creating a tall, narrow card with one for a while now. I wanted to make sure the chipboard piece was the focus, so I kept the rest of my card fairly simple.

I used a white chalk ink before adding embossing ink and glittery white embossing powder to my chipboard. It turned out sparkly and feminine which was perfect for my girly card!

Other Products Used:
Webster's Pages "New Beginnings" Collection paper

7 Dots Studio: "Memories" Challenge

It's time to reveal the newest challenge over at 7 Dots Studio. And this time around, it's all about the "Memories"...however you would like to interpret that...whatever it inspires.

For me, it triggered the need to scrap about my dad. Most of you know that I lost him when I was 13 years old and it is a loss which I still struggle with to this day...and never gets easier. But taking the time to scrap about him gives me the opportunity to reflect on my memories of him; the type of person he was, his funny personality, what a great dad he was- despite his downfalls. I try my best to hold on to the good memories and cultivate them so that I can one day share them with my children...

"Remember Forever"
I found comfort in the warm, rich fall colors inspired by the changing season upon us. Red is most certainly not my usual color, but it was okay here. I accepted it and went forward :)

I began with the Domestic Goddess collection, which I've loved since the day it was released! Such a beautiful line!

I am loving playing with texture and color. So rewarding :)

I've discovered that I love book pages once again. I used to use them all the time...then not at all...and again I find myself reaching for them every time. So watch out...when an obsession strikes, I can't help myself!

Domestic Goddess- Spice and Suguar
Domestic Goddess- Women's Talk
Domestic Goddess- Overused Tablecloth
All I Ever- Elements 12x12
All I Ever- Summer Night Alpha Stickers 6x12

I hope you get the chance to play along with us at 7 Dots Studio. Be sure to stop by the blog and check out all of the beautiful examples by the design team :)

Take care and have a GREAT weekend!!

Two More for Blue Fern Studios

Hello :) I'm back again today with my other two projects for Blue Fern Studios, so let's get started!

"Natural Beauty"
Many of you probably recognize this gorgeous little girl as my sister's daughter Lilah. She truly is a natural beauty- lucky thing! :) This layout was inspired by the photo and title piece and I went from there.

Wanting to keep the chipboard at least partially raw, I went for a brown and pink color scheme, which I love. My background paper was just what I needed- a sheet from the 7 Dots Studio "Messy Head" collection. From there I mixed and matched some Prima papers & canvas, as well as some sheets from the Messy Head 6x6 Designer Pad.

For the Graduated Circles piece, I applied a bit of gesso before sprinkling on some Shimmerz Enamelz in Fake Bake. This is my first time using this stuff (Leslie did a special order for us over at C'est Magnifique) and I really love it.

My title piece is from the All Natural Set. Just a little bit of gesso was all it needed!

And aren't these new Berry Stems just adorable? I love them :) Perfect for sticking into your clusters! And with 6 in a package, they are easy to stretch out over a few different projects.

Products Used:

Graduated Circles

All Natural Set

Berry Stems

For my second project, I have a tag:

"Friends" Tag
Do you ever start out on a project and decide Hey, I'm going to do something different. And then you immediately say Oh, now WHY did I do that?! That is what happened here. I thought it would be a good idea to use some red...with black...and gold...which is just not my go-to color combo. At first, I was not happy with that decision. Immediately I wanted to toss it and go for a color scheme more inside my comfort zone. But I stuck to it and I'm okay with it now ;)

I again used some Enamelz here because I was really having fun with the stuff. I've also used a transparency from the Webster's Pages "Royal Christmas" collection to back my Ironwork Accents chipboard piece. It made adding my title SO easy :)

I think I mentioned at one time my Prima Corine stash. Well, I've started using them again...I'm learning to let go ;). I don't often use red, so this red Corine came in handy! And isn't that Prima flair button just perfect? I love it. It's from the new Everyday Vintage collection.

Products Used:

Ironwork Accents

That completes my post today! I just wanted to thank those of you who always take the time to come over and see what I've been up to. I cannot even express to you HOW busy I've been- between the kids, the garden, the berries, the canning, the bear baiting, the extra jobs I've taken in the past two weeks to cover for a friend, the preparing for my first Kindergartener to go to school, preparing for my daughter's 2nd birthday, the HEAT...I could go on and on....I'm just a bit swamped and haven't had much time at all to return the kindness I've been shown by those of you who have left the nicest comments for me...seriously, SERIOUSLY...THANK you! I truly enjoy reading each and every one.

Bless you all :) Take care...

Guest Designer for Tresors de Luxe

Good morning and welcome to the weekend! I'm here with you today because I am a guest designer for Tresors de Luxe, and I've created my first art journal page using some of their gorgeous lace trims.

Now, I must admit- though my first page turned out much like a layout (hey, it's what I'm used to!), I can tell you I created two more pages immediately after this one and am loving this whole art journaling thing. I plan to use mine as a way to record some of the things about myself that I normally don't cover in my layouts, as well as documenting quotes or ideas that inspire me, and even maybe get back into drawing and painting. Back when I was younger, I was pretty darn good at drawing. So I'd really like to get into that. We'll see!

The biggest challenge for me is keeping these pages flat- so that means pretty much no flowers. For me, that's about unheard of. But it's a good challenge and is forcing me to rely on mediums, stamps, and other things to bring my pages together.

So here's my first attempt:

"Harvest"
After just saying the other day how i never use red or orange (while talking with the girls in the C'est Magnifique forum), here I go and use both. AND purple! But I love the autumn feel to this page as unfortunately that is what we're heading into. Obviously blueberry picking is my latest obsession- in fact, I just went out with a friend yesterday afternoon and we picked about another 4 gallons each- way out in the woods up on a cliff. It was awesome. Didn't drag ourselves out of there until about 7:30 last night when we heard something crashing around in the woods and felt we'd better get out of there :).

I had lots of fun playing with mists, watercolors, modeling paste, etc. The purple splotch here reminds me of blueberry juice, lol! In fact, after a day of picking, my hands are just completely stained purple :)

What I especially love about these Tresors de Luxe trims is they are so durable and just full of textures, which makes altering them so much fun! I've used a combination of mists, watercolors, and chalk inks to give these a bit of color. Oh, and some microbeads too.

I must admit, the flower and bow were a final addition to this page. It's tough- because otherwise, it just doesn't look like ME, if you know what I mean? I feel very conscious of that. But I need to get over it because if I'm going to create a full art journal book- my pages need to be flat. And in my next two pages that you'll be seeing over the next few weeks, you can be assured that no flowers or bulky things are present. Super weird.

I felt that the gorgeous "Dreamer" collection from 7 Dots Studio, with just a hint of "Domestic Goddess" {forefont tag} was perfect for this autumn-inspired project.

Thanks for coming over this weekend!- and for bearing with me through my first art journal project. It's a work in progress- I'm slowly "getting" it ;)...take care and see you soon.

Prima: School Memories Collection {Altered Gift Bag}

Good morning! How has your week been? Busy, busy here...blueberry picking continues and this morning I'm picking up my order of baby chickens (yes, not only do I hatch babies myself, but I also enjoy ordering them through the mail!) this morning and just can't wait :). We recently had a wolf get into our chicken house and take our two biggest hens, and with being down to 19 chickens (8 of which are babies)- it was time to supplement the house before winter comes. So 14 little fuzzies will be joining them!

Anyways, back to business, right? I'm here to share with you a project that was on the Prima blog a little while back. Using the new School Memories collection, I altered this cute wooden gift bag that I purchased for almost nothing from a craft store.

"Altered Wooden Gift Bag"
This collection is gorgeous- and works well for non-school related projects too. I covered all sides of this bag with this "Teacher Talk" paper and then sanded down the edges with sandpaper.

I've added a touch of masking using one of the new Finnabair Elementals stencils (doily). The resin frame was touched up with the "Blue Jay" chalk edger from Ingvild Bolme.

There are a ton of cute embellishments with this collection. I've used some of the School Memories Tickets & Tags, 1" Flair Buttons, and Wood Icons.

C'est Magnifique: August Kit {Full} Reveal!

It's time to reveal the full kit for August at C'est Magnifique Kits! We've already shared the papers and add-ons, and today we get to see the main kit, which I just know you will love :)

But first, how about another sample? I really enjoyed creating with this kit, and especially loved the contrast between the reddish pinks and blues...gorgeous :)

"Sweet Angel"
The inspiration for this layout actually came from the beautiful Prima Ingvild Bolme resin angel wings. And what better character than my daughter Aspen to bring one of those precious pieces to life? She truly is my sweet little angel :)

As always, I've taken advantage of the flowers from both the kit and the add-on. I love creating big, fully flower clusters- and there's more than enough to go around with this kit!

C'est Magnifique August Kit
"A Day at the Park"
For those of you who love what I do with microbeads- here's your chance to get a full jar of them! Gotta love those beads ;)!!

At the time of this post, there were still some kits and add-ons available in the August section of the store HERE. But they seriously do not last long- so if you want to secure one of these kits for yourself, please don't hesitate!

Thank-you for coming on over today.

See you tomorrow :)
