Cannon's Crib

Well, we have finally completed Cannon's nursery. Blaine's dad built a crib for Cannon and brought it over to us during the Thanksgiving holiday. It turned out great! However, he left it to Blaine and I to paint or stain the crib, since he wasn't sure what color we wanted the crib to be. We chose to stain the crib and it looks pretty good! I am so excited to finally have Cannon's nursery finished and put together. Thanks Grandpa Bateman for the nice crib!

Santa Baby

My mom bought a cute little Santa outfit for Cannon to wear this year. She also bought him his very first stuffed Santa Clause! When I was a baby, my parents bought me a stuffed Santa Clause, which I still have, and thought they would pass down that tradition and do the same thing for Cannon. It was fun to compare my old raggedy Santa to Cannon's new and perfect Santa Clause. It was also funny dressing Cannon in his Santa Clause costume and placing the giant stuffed Santa next to him. He is getting so big, so fast! Anyway, I had to post some pictures of Cannon in his Santa Clause outfit and a picture of him in front of his very first Christmas tree!!!

Thanksgiving Weekend Activities and Cannon's Baby Blessing

After our trips to Washington and Oregon to see our parents, Blaine and I had both sides of family over to our house for Thanksgiving. It was nice to have both of our families over for the holiday. We had lots of fun eating good food, shopping at Gardner Village, watching football, going out to see the movie, The Blindside (which is really good!), and spending time together. Additionally, Cannon was blessed the Sunday after Thanksgiving, which was nice to have our families and friends over to be a part of his special day. Below are some pictures taken over our Thanksgiving weekend and Cannon's baby blessing:

Cousin Time!

Since I am on maternity leave, I thought it would be fun to get away and take advantage of the time I have off of work. Blaine and I originally wanted to take a little family vacation somewhere together, but somehow ended up on separate flights, going to separate destinations. While Cannon and I are in Oregon spending time with my family for a few days, Blaine is in Washington, spending time with his family and fishing for the same amount of time. One of the stops we have made since we have arrived in Oregon was to see Blaine's brother Brett, and his cute little family. Cannon met his only cousin, Mercy, for the first time today! Blaine's brother Brett, and his wife Rachel, had Mercy about one month after Cannon was born. Even though Cannon is only one month older than Mercy, he looks gigantic in comparison! :) I could not believe how much bigger Cannon was and that he was that size just weeks ago. Time sure flies! Cannon is definitely growing like a weed. I weighed him yesterday and he is already 12 lbs 9 oz! This means that he has gained almost five pounds in less than two months since his birth. Yikes! Anyway, here are some pictures of Cannon's "cousin time" with baby Mercy...

Smiley Little Guy

Over the last week or so, Cannon has started to smile and coo. No longer are his smiles only from the result of gas, or at the onset of fussing. Cannon has little moments throughout each day where he will just start to smile and coo at you. It is the cutest thing! Here are some pictures of his "real" smile, as well as the "fake" ones he likes to make when gas and fussing are involved :)...

White Onesie

I don't know what it is about babies in onesies, especially white ones, but they are super cute in them! Since Cannon is already starting to show some of his cute baby fat rolls, I couldn't resist taking many pictures of him in one of his little white onesies. Here he is at one month...

Happy Halloween!!!

With a one month old baby, Blaine and I did not make any Halloween plans this year, other than staying home and watching Harry Potter while handing out candy to all of the trick or treaters. Sadly, we have yet to live somewhere where kids ACTUALLY come to your door and ask for candy. It seems like each year we over estimate the number of trick or treaters and end up with a lot of candy afterward. However, this year was definitely better that the three trick or treaters we saw last year! Oh well, more candy for us!

This Halloween Blaine and I decided to be pirates. And, since pirates usually have parrots, Cannon was lucky enough to be ours! Please don't laugh at his costume...it is homemade. :)

Pumpkin Carving

Believe it or not, I had never carved a pumpkin ALL by myself, until earlier this week. Growing up, my family and I would always paint faces on our pumpkins instead of carving them. So, I am now proud to say that I have carved a pumpkin in my life and can cross it off of my bucket list. :) Anyway, here are the pumpkins we carved and our little baby boy pumpkin!

Welcome Cannon Quayle Bateman!

Cannon arrived on Sunday, September 27th at 11:41pm. He weighed in at 7 lbs 15oz and was 20 inches long. Here is his birth story in a nut shell:

I woke up to a surprise on Sunday morning...my water had broke. Blaine and I drove to the hospital shortly after and were admitted to the labor and delivery unit at Jordan Valley Hospital. After the doctor broke the remainder of my water, things started moving along. I received an epidural and thought things would be smooth sailing afterward. However, the epidural was not placed in the correct location, which caused a couple hours worth of pain. The anesthesiologist kept giving me more and more doses of medication, hoping for the epidural to kick in, which did not work at all. The only thing the medication did do was make my right leg completely numb! So, after two hours of feeling the contractions, I finally had another epidural placed and finally felt RELIEF! I was in active labor for about 11 hours before Cannon arrived. Once he did arrive, he quickly went to the nursery because his respiratory rate was high. After a couple of hours in the nursery, Cannon was finally able to come stay with us in the recovery room. :)

Cannon is such a great blessing to us! I cannot believe how much I already love that little guy! He is the cutest little thing and I look forward to my three months of maternity leave to spend time with him. Welcome to our family Cannon!
