Farewell Winter

Goodbye Winter, I don't think you will be missed too much. The idea of winter always sounds great around mid August, but as fall fades into colder and darker days, winter seems to linger a little longer than I would like.
There is beauty to celebrate within each season. That's why I have chosen some gorgeous items that encompass the feeling of winter, but would brighten anyone's day.

What to do on a snow day?

1. 100% Pure Colorado Raw Honey by Honey Tea Thyme
2. Cinnamon Coffee Cozy by Natalya 1905
3. Lemon Squeeze Honey Love Tea by Herbal Revolution
4. Vintage Red Japanese Ceramic Tea Pot by cyberserona

Over the weekend, we got hit with a major snow storm - we're talking over 2 ft kind of snow storm!  Which pretty much meant that I was snowed in until the wind subsided and then, it was time for some shoveling—lots of shoveling!  Despite high winds and reports of possible power outages, luckily we did not lose our 'pow-ah'.  So what do you do when you're snowed in?  Well, among many other things I drank a lot of tea!  I don't drink coffee, so I am all about the blissful and aromatic experience of a hot cup of tea.  I have a beautiful Blomus teapot which was a thoughtful gift from Amber of Red Tile Studio, where I can make 3 cups of tea to enjoy!  Last December, while at the Picnic craft show in Portland, Maine I picked up some herbal Lemon Squeeze Homey Love Tea from Katheryn of Herbal Revolution.  This blend has all my favorite lemony friends: lemon balm, lemon verbena, lemon grass and lemon peel!  Add just a touch of some raw honey and voila—I was feeling quite happy to be snowed in!

What about you?  What do you do on a snow day?

Keep Me Warm.

2. Felted Wool Sweater Mittens by Northland Woolens
3. Wool Felted Slippers by Bure Bure Slippers
4. Alpaca Knit Hat by By Sweet Mom

According to The Weather Channel, yesterday was in the teens here in Maine - you know what that feels like?  Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - that's what it feels like!  I think it's safe to say that in the winter, I wear a scarf like it's a second layer of skin - which means all the time, even in the house.  Not that the house is that cold, but my neck always feels bare in the winter without a scarf.  It's winter in Maine so being cold is just part of an annual routine and we all do our best to minimize the impact of the freezing weather.  One such way is to bundle UP - from head to toe!  All of my picks today center around the theme of "Keep Me Warm", but the warmest part of all four items is that they were handmade.   The love and care that goes into creating a handmade item can certainly be felt and adds to that feeling of keeping you warm and toasty from the inside out!

If you live in a cold climate, tell me what your indispensable winter accessory is!

Winter in White - I think!

1. Handmade White Lampshade by Filigree Creations
2. White Lace Necklace by branchbound
3. White Wool Felted Scarf by Baymut
4. White Little Bubbles Ring in Sterling Silver by La Chica des los Anillos
5. White and Silver Paper Mache Vessel by etco

It's December 13th and the ground is covered with lots of brown leaves with naked trees staring down at the landscape below, but where's all the white stuff?  You know...  snow!  There's no snow here in Maine and I feel that I'd like at least a little snow to help put me in the holiday spirit.  One doesn't associate winter with white for no reason after all, right?  So - to cure my no-snow winter blues, I put together some beautiful white items from Etsy.  My whole collection can be viewed here.  Maybe you don't live in an area that typically gets snow in the winter, but for those that do - are you staring at a brown carpet of leaves out there or do you have some white, fluffy pretty flakes of snow?  Granted, once it does start snowing I'll be ready for spring - but for now... dare I say, "I want snow!"
