Friday Etsy Favorites - Colorful & Modern Home Decor!

Here are the 2 things that I look for when it comes to home decor - it's got to be colorful & modern!  Sometimes I'm in the mood for a muted palette, but when it comes down to it I have to say I really love color.  Not heart pumping neons, but a flowery mix of colors with a nice dose of tension.  I've never been a fan of matchy-matchy, but rather I enjoy combining a variety of colors and patterns.  With my 4 selections today, I've pulled together a cozy nook where you can turn on the light, fluff your pillow and get snuggled for a good read!

Etsy Summer :: Geometric Jewels

Geometrics are a year round favorite for me.  Since it's still summer and I have yet to pull out anything closely related to wool - I am all about getting some new jewelry to wear!  Summer is pretty much the quintessential time to show off some new jewels on that bare skin.  Hopefully, not real pale skin - you do want to have some color to offset the pasty whiteness of winter.  I've put together some of my Etsy jewelry favorites with a focus on geometric shapes.  I would be quite happy with any of these beautiful handmade items, but most happy if I had them all!

Ready to go GEOmetric this summer?

Geometric designs are a year round favorite for me.  There's no seasonal limit to when you can enjoy these fun shapes, patterns and designs.  Summer just seems to bring out the playful side of geometrics and you can really get away with mixing it up!  Are you bold enough to step outside of the solid colors and have a little fun?  I'm always up for FUN!  As you may already know, I'm a big fan of layering and I don't shy away from combining squares up against circles and triangles.  Why not?  My summer geometric favs today follow a very lose color scheme and really push the mixing and matching idea!

Style Your Dorm on Etsy | Bold, Bright, and Modern

It's 2012 and there is no excuse to have a bland + boring dorm room. You also don't have to settle for what you can find off the shelf at a big box store.  Why? Because there is Etsy and our goal is to help you find the best shops on Etsy to make shopping easy and fun!

Our dorm room today was styled by Jillian of Jillian Rene Decor.  What I just love about this room is that it's modern and colorful.  Who wouldn't want to study in a space like this?   I find that most people have trouble finding a starting point when decorating a space.  A great tip to take from this room is to find a piece of art your really like and build your whole room around it's color palette.  How easy is that?

The thing I love the most about geometrics is that they're timeless.  Shapes are something we start interacting with at a very young age - remember the game where you fit the square into the square hole?  Or at least when you weren't trying to jam the star in it instead...  Those first impressions stay with us + make living with geometric patterns actually quite comfortable.  You don't have to overwhelm your interior decor with geometrics every which way you turn.  Instead, use them as a focal point to tie together your home's styling.  I've put together 3 picks from some of my favorite Etsy shops to help you get started!
