Creative Sketches Challenge Card

Thanks for stopping by for this week's Creative Sketches Challenge.  Fun challenge this week and I had a fun time using the new die, Stocking Accents from the Holiday Mini, for this card.  Here is the sketch:

And below is my card.  Because I am a paper "horder", I used scrap pieces of Real Red Card Stock and Holly Berry Bouquet DSP for the ornaments.  I thought the DSP ornaments needed to have a defined color behind them.  So I cut 2 Real Red ornaments and used them as backing for each DSP ornament.  I had some left over retired tinsel ribbon and used that for a border.  I tied some silver cording around the neck of each ornament, and then added a jingle bell.  Here's a list of what I used:

Stamps: Happy Holiday stamp
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Real Red Marker
Papers: Real Red, Very Vanilla, Holly Berry Bouquet DSP
Accessories: Big Shot, Stocking Accents Die, Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder, Lace Ribbon Border Punch, Small Oval Punch, Jingle Bells, Tinsel Ribbon, Silver Cording, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini-Glue Dots

I used one of my favorite sets, Field Flowers, for my project.  I distressed the designer paper and feathered the edges with some Cajun Craze ink and a sponge.  2-step stamped the flowers with the same ink, and cut them out.  I still have some hardware from the Hodgepodge Hardware kits, and added a bracket with Soft Suede ribbon threaded through it.  The bee is from the Nature Walk set and it's stamped in Soft Suede.  Here's the details:

Thursday Creative Sketch Challenge!

Happy Thursday everyone!  Thanks for stopping by and checking out this week's Creative Sketch challenge - I hope you'll play along!  Below is this week's sketch, and if you play along, you can upload your card HERE.

I am trying to use up some of my retired designer paper, and chose to use retired Springtime Vintage dp for this card.  I also used the retired set, Strength and Hope; I love the butterfly image from this set and this is one of those sets I will probably always keep.  It's hard to see, but after I cut out the butterflies, I sprayed them with some Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.  To create the frame around the butterfly images, I cut 1/4" strips of  Not Quite Navy c/s and then used my trusty old Singer sewing machine to sew a border on the strips.  Here's the details:

Stamps: Strength & Hope
Inks: Not Quite Navy, Pear Pizzazz
Papers: Very Vanilla, Not Quite Navy, Springtime Vintage DP
Accessories: Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon, Pearls, Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Sewing Machine/Thread, Dimensionals Mini-Glue Dots

This Week's Creative Sketch

Hey Everyone - How is your summer going?  It is hot, hot, hot here in the Chicagoland area!!  We lost power last week for a couple of days and then the AC unit in my craft room died and it was way to hot to stamp.  Couple that with the start of high school football (oh yeah!!), and I have been MIA for a while.

This week's sketch was to make a card using the following sketch and the Iris Fold Technique.  I have to admit that I had a hard time figuring out how to do this technique, so please forgive my feeble attempt at this weeks challenge!  This the link for a site that has some very cool patterns and tutorials on it for this technique: Iris Folding Pattern

Here's this weeks sketch:

Inks: Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Big Shot, Circle Scallop #2 Die, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, Bird Punch (for the leaf), Sewing Machine/Thread, Sponge, Dimensionals, Scissors
