Making Cards Again...

I don't remember the last time I made a greeting card.  I discovered that MFT Stamps is having a Camp Create event again this summer so it seemed like a good time to dust off those supplies and get to work.

Today's project is 'Spectacular Shakers'.  I think shaker cards are really fun but too much work.  The card I made today though wasn't much work at all.  I think it will make my MIL grin when she gets it too.

Check out the Camp Create inspiration HERE.

Until next time...

Interactive Door ATC

The weather here has been fabulous!  It makes it a little harder to sit in the studio and chill - I prefer to soak up all of those gorgeous golden rays when they make an appearance.

Swap duties do call though.  This latest ATC is for a swap that requires an interactive door element.  I love, love, love this door from Stampotique; haven't used it in eons though.

Technically it's a little high.  An ATC is supposed to be 2.5" x 3.5" (which my layer underneath is).  I just didn't have the heart to chop it off though.

Here's a glimpse...

And another...

What?!  Bet you didn't know there'd be a llama in there.  The person I'm sending this to really loves llamas.  The framed artwork behind my furry friend is from the Peruvian artist, Leonardo Asiro.

That's it for today, folks.  The sun is out and the backyard is calling...

Happy 21st Birthday!!

Good morning, my friends!  Yep.  Today my middlest child turns 21.  I am sure that this evening is not going to go as he thought it would a month ago.  It was very sweet actually.  He said he wanted to go out with his older sister, his dad and I on his actual birthday.  He was very excited about getting carded.  Of course that's not happening amid the Covid-19 madness.  Instead, we'll be travelling from the kitchen, to the living room, to the family room.  (I must remember to ask for his ID at each stop!).

Of course there's still a birthday card involved.  I love making these interactive cards even though this style always takes me longer than I think it will.  This one was particularly difficult - the Muse wasn't cooperating. But here goes...the birthday card for Devon (aka Devon, Devon, Little Slice O' Heaven)...

Sip, Sip, Hooray!  Happy April 4th, y'all!

Behind Every Mask ATC

Yep...another ATC for today.  This one is for a folded ATC swap.  There was no criteria for how the ATC had to be folded; I could have just made a flap.  I wanted to do something a little different though.  When I saw this technique I immediately thought of this bird mask image.

Getting those diagonal folds was a little challenging at first but perseverance pays off.  😉

I hope you're having a spectacular day!

Circles & Dots SDC 290

Let's have a little fun, shall we?  For the SDC "Circles & Dots" challenge I have an interactive ATC.  Woo hoo!  Poor Jillian is going to get a bit dizzy, I fear.

Her head rolls from the top left to the bottom right.

Yikes!

BeeHave ATC

I know I should just get over this bee set,  but it's new and I'm just having too much fun with it.  I'm in an interactive ATC swap and I thought this little bee was misbehaving by constantly 'zooming' back and forth across my card.  ha ha!

Have a wonderful day!

*** Magical *** Interactive ATC

Get outta' Dodge, this was SO fun to make!  I joined an ATC swap where we had to incorporate an interactive element.  I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do so I googled 'interactive ATC' to get some ideas.  Thank you, Kristina Werner, for the awesome YouTube video.  She made a card but it was easy to adjust this for an ATC.  Check it!

Let's see if I can figure out how to transfer a video from my phone to my blog...

Cool - it worked (and you can hear my daughter laughing at me in the background - LOL)!  The person receiving this has a couple of pups on her profile page and they inspired this.  I hope she likes it.  :)

An Interactive ATC

I'm not sure what prompted my search, but this morning I had a flashback to a class I took several years ago by Julie Ebersole.  She showed us a bunch of techniques for creating interactive cards.  I LOVE interactive cards.  I just think they add some fun to regular ol' cards.  I did manage to find the files and created an interactive ATC this morning.

I was in the mood today to just create something not initiated by any challenges or prompts.  I haven't been using my Distress inks much lately so just started by creating the background.  When I reached into my nature-themed stamp storage I saw the globe flower stamp sitting there; haven't used that one in years!

It was very therapeutic to just create and I'm always up for justifying my purchases that have been collecting dust.  ;)

Thanks for stopping by to see my makes today.

Little House ATC

Today I stepped away from Halloween for a bit (crazy, but true!) to make an ATC for a friend.  The theme of this swap was to create an interactive ATC.  Tracy likes little houses so this was a no-brainer for me.  I channeled my muse from when I created this similar ATC a while ago.

I used all kinds of bits and pieces from my stash: bingo paper, raffle ticket (that my son brought home and I, of course, kept), gelli plate scrap, phone book page, school newsletter...  I love finding ways to use the junk I can't bear to throw away.  :)

I hope she likes it.  I think she will!

House ATCs, Part 2

Thanks for coming back!

Here is my second interactive house ATC for the swap.

You can see the emboss resist background better here than on the ATC I posted yesterday.

The front door opens on this one to reveal a quote and a heart.  Always the recycler (aka She Who Hoards Even the Smallest of Paper Scraps) the window, door and roof are all bits that I had saved from other projects.  The roof is part of a paper towel that had been used to clean up Dylusions overspray.  I ran it through my Xyron to make it sticky.

I colored a piece of Tim Holtz's industrious sticker with some alcohol ink for the roof garnish.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Tomorrow I'll post the rest of the ATCs.

Have a great day!

She Just Showed Up Unannounced!

I found my Muse perched on my work table bright and early this morning and she didn't even call to let me know she'd be coming.

I have had an house ATC swap deadline looming closer and just couldn't get the mojo kickstarted.  Today was a good day though.  Here's what I came up with.

All of my bases were created in similar fashion.  First I sprayed white cardstock with a Dylusions color.  Dried it and then stamped with bubble wrap and heat embossed.  Next I sprayed again with darker shades of Dylusions.

One of the requirements for this swap was that two of them had to be interactive.  Today I'll show you The Birdhouse.  (Maybe 'Bird Condo' would be more fitting?)

The 'portholes' (do you call them that on a birdhouse?) were created from scraps I had laying around.  The metal roof pulls up to reveal a feathery friend.

A pocket on the back keeps the pull-out in place.  The pull-out background is stamped with "tweet" though by the time I cut it down to fit in the pocket I'm not sure it's obvious what it says anymore.

The pull-out was a little tough to remove at first.  To fix that I rubbed it with wax paper and then wrapped it with wax paper and pulled it in and out of the pocket a few times.  Worked like a charm.

Check back tomorrow to see my other interactive ATC!

A little fun with Tag Tuesday

Sneaking in a little paper-y play time this morning.  I just finished my Tag Tuesday tag for this week where the theme is 'Windows, Gates, Doors & Portals'.  I knew an interactive element was in order.  I was thinking a flap to open in a window-esque fashion, but it evolved into a door.

Isn't that fun?  The 'roof' is embossed with a ticket embossing folder with the Admit One highlighted.  Seemed appropriate when I was looking for something to jazz up the tag top; one might have trouble juggling too many heartthrobs...

This elf needs to get back to work.  Wishing you all a safe and happy weekend.  Thanks for stopping by!
