CAS Christmas Challenge: Winter Scene

Wow, I'm on a roll...my second month in a row - ha ha!  Baby steps...

When I saw the challenge theme for February I knew immediately that I wanted to use these stamps - they're just cute and I hardly ever use them.  Need to justify storing them, right?  The bonus is that a while ago I had colored and cut out a whole bunch of these so it was really just a matter of putting everything together.  Love that.

If you want to build up your stash of Christmas cards before December create along with the CAS Christmas Challenge HERE.

Thanks for stopping by...

CAS Christmas Card Challenge - Silver & Gold

The title says it all.  I always am aghast when December 1st rolls around and I haven't done anything about Christmas cards.  If I enter this challenge every month, at least I'll have 12.  Ha ha!

I bought a pack of silver and gold card bases years ago thinking I'd be able to whip up some Christmas cards easily with them (and yet, here they sit...).  I die cut 'Believe' out of white cardstock and layered it over a solid gold base.  The stars were stamped and then embossed with silver embossing powder.  Can't get much more CAS than that!

Cheers!

Using My Gel Print Scraps

I'm sure I've confessed here before that I'm a wee bit of a hoarder when it comes to paper scraps.  It's ridiculous really, but, in my defense, I really do dig into the stash and use them...EXCEPT for my gel prints.  They're just so pretty!  Reality is setting in though and I'm resigning myself to using up the little gems.  Today I've been working on Christmas cards...

This doesn't even scratch the surface of my stash but it's a start.

Ho ho ho!

25 Tags of Christmas: Day 18

This tag is super simple -  black ink and gold embossing.  I was inspired by Lindsey's tag.

25 Tags of Christmas: Day 17

Several of the tag-makers on this day used critters on their tags.  Immediately I thought of a stamp set from MFT Stamps that I love for this time of year, Ready, Set, Snow!.  (I think I love it because two of my kiddos love to snowboard.)  Here's my tag...

I think my daughter would kill me if I called her a snow bunny - LOL...

25 Tags of Christmas: Day 15

The simplicity of Lindsey's black and white tag inspired me to create this one for Day 15.

Play along with Tracey's 25 Tags of Christmas HERE.

25 Tags of Christmas: Day 3

The tag I made for Day 3 is inspired by Norine's tag; I loved the intricate dies she used and the soft colors.

I
hope this stands up to being tossed under the Christmas tree.  :)

Greetings From Seattle Christmas Card

Woo hoo!  I think I might actually get some cards sent out this year.  Made a few of these...

I love this little house from Lawn Fawn.  Ho ho ho!

25 Tags of Christmas: Day 2

I needed something handmade and Christmas-y for a swap so I decided to go with a gift tag.  Inspired by Karin, I made these little snowflake tags.

Starting to feel festive?  I am!

25 Tags of Christmas: Days 1 and 14

It's time for the annual "25 Tags of Christmas" makes with Tracey McNeely over at In My Creative Opinion.  I thought I was just going to be a silent viewer this year...I don't really use 25 tags every year...but I saw some pretty cute tags and was feeling inspired.  Hmmm...maybe I'll switch it up and make some birthday ones in place of Christmas!

Anyhoo...my tags are going to be a wee bit out of order and since this is 2020 with all of its weirdness I've decided that it's okay to do it that way.  Ha ha!

This tag, for Day 1, was inspired by Vanessa.  I liked how she had the free swinging smaller tag on top of her base tag.  She used some cute penguins on hers, too.

Day 14's tag is inspired by Elena.  I had a tough time choosing which tag to be inspired by...I love Lawn Fawn products and they were the ones highlighted on Day 14.

Two tags down, 23 to go!

What to do with holiday cards now that Christmas is over...

Almost every year, as the decorations come down and boxes get put away I stare at the festive cards I've received over the holidays and get a little sad about just tossing them in the recycle bin.  This year I repurposed part of  one into an ATC.

This little snow leopard graced the front of a Christmas postcard.  Now he's happily living it up in the mountains.

Cheers!

25 Tags of Christmas: Bonus Day!

Well, if 25 is good, 26 must be better.  Today is bonus tag day over at Tracey's blog.  There are so many great tags on there today that I was tempted to put my spin on several of them, but eventually I opted for Susie's beautiful monochromatic tag.

Bonus Day: inspired by Susie

I pulled out more oldies but goodies for this one:

Tim Holtz/Sizzix Festive Foliage
Memory Box Stitched Bows

Okay, as much fun as it was cranking out gift tags I think I'm ready to move on to cards.  Maybe I'll actually get some Christmas cards mailed out this year!

Ho-ho-ho,
Julie

25 Tags of Christmas: Days 24 & 25..ta da!!

Woo hoo!  I finished all 25 days of tags!  I'm stoked!

I really liked the colors on Mindy's Day 24 tag.  I think it's the contrast of the dark sky with the focal images.  Here's my take:

Day 24: inspired by Mindy

On Day 25 I absolutely fell in love with Leanne's little Santa tag.  I'm totally picturing this on a present.  CUTE!  I (as usual) had to improvise a bit, but I think it works.  Honestly, I'm not even sure this will go on a gift.  I might just hang it somewhere in my studio to make me smile all year long.

Day 25: inspired by Leanne

Schwoo!  25 tags in less than 25 days...I'm feeling accomplished.  Thanks for traveling along with me on this (sleigh) ride.

Happy Holidays!!

25 Tags of Christmas: Day 23

For today's tag I reached into my stash of stamps and dusted off an oldie.  I've had this Stampin Up set for over 15 years.  I knew immediately when I saw Carol's tag that this is what I would use though.

Day 23: inspired by Carol

25 Tags of Christmas: Day 22

Today the sponsor of the 25 Tags of Christmas challenge is Birch Press Design.  The designers used some beautifully intricate dies to create their tags.  I realized that I don't really have much in the way of intricate dies so I had to dig through my stash to get something close.

Day 22: inspired by Joyce
Apologies to Joyce.  Her tag is gorgeous.  I mimicked the colors she used.  Hmmm...this is not my favorite of the tags I've made.  There's always tomorrow.  😑

Create on, my friends!

Spinner Wheel Card

Ever since I saw this video by Jennifer McGuire I knew I'd have to make my own spinner card.  I'm not gonna lie...it was kind of a pain in the patoot to make.  I don't have nesting circle dies which would have made the process so much easier.  But I persisted!

I'm entering this in the Lawn Fawnatics 'fun with dies' challenge

Happy Holidays!!  (too early??)

25 Tags of Christmas: Day 21

Oh, look at me...all caught up.  I'm feeling pretty impressed with myself.  👩  Today's highlighted company over on the challenge blog is Lawn Fawn.  I love me some Lawn Fawn!  I pulled out some of my faves to make my tag for today.

Day 21: Inspired by Elena
Go over to the blog and peek at Elena's tag - you'll see a lot of simliarities!

Happy creating!

25 Tags of Christmas: Days 1-3

I got on this band wagon a little late; it was halfway through November before I realized this challenge was going on.  I defnitely need gift tags for the holidays so why not dig into the stash to get creative?  (Great way to justify all of those purchases, hm?)

Here are my make-up day tags for the first few days...

Day 1: inspired by Svitlana

Day 2: I don't even know if it's fair to say "inspired by".  I pretty much copied Carly's tag.  I loved it!
Day 3: inspired by Andrea
Schwoo...I'm all caught up!  I'm especially liking digging around in my stash to rediscover stamps that I'd forgotten about.  Time to dust those puppies off!

Happy Creating...🧝

25 Tags of Christmas - Days 15-20

This last one is being entered in the Lawnfawnatics challenge # 65, too.  I love this little house!

It's awesome to have a stash of tags ready to go.  But, uh, now I need to go do some shopping so there are gifts to put them on!

25 Tags of Christmas

I just discovered that the 25 Tags of Christmas challenge over at the In My Creative Opinion blog started at the beginning of November.  I like tags.  And it's fun to make fancy, or sometimes not-so-fancy, additions to gifts.  Since the challenge started at the beginning of November, this is where I'm frantically catching up.  Here goes...

Day 4: inspired by Rahmatt

Day 5: inspired by Carol

Day 6: inspired by Carol

Day 7: inspired by Joyce
Day 8: inspired by the Erica's and Lindsey's wine tags

Day 9: inspired by all of the cute llama tags

Day 10: inspired by Larraine

Day 11: inspired by all of the interactive tags
Day 12: inspired by all the deer

Day 13: inspired by Tracey

Day 14: inspired by Carol's mitten tags

Schwoo...that's a lot of tag-making.  I still have a few to go...stay tuned...
