Looking forward...

I am getting ready to make another trip to Ohio. My Mother is going to have a Memorial Service soon and I will be there to help along with my Sister.
I will be away from my Blog while there from
Friday December 28, 2012 to January 11, 2013
First UFO on my list.
As I am beginning to read blogs and plan what to participate in this New Year, I found that Carrie
over at "A passion for Applique" is hosting a "Nothing But UFOs in 2013". This appeals to me since I have been looking at all the unfinished projects in my sewing room. I may only get to one a month, but anything is progress.
I will check back when I get back from Ohio to see if there are any other fun things to participate in.
Have a Happy, Healthy New Year!

Merry anost Christmas....

I am celebrating Christmas Eve with my family today in South Carolina.
Please keep my Mother in Ohio in your prayers as she is adjusting to life without her Soul Mate. My Father passed yesterday and is now in a better place.

Feline Friday...

I am almost caught up. I only have to cut the green squares, finish the 4-patches of step one and then do step five. Yea!
Chipper has been hanging out with me helping me sew Easy Street Mystery. Does anyone else have a cat that purches on your shoulders while you sew? I guess it is safer for him since he is not close to the needle...Check out other felines at Sarah did it's Feline-friday .

I started on Easy Street...

Last night I started working on Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt, Easy Street. I got about half of step one done. Then today I cut out most of the other three steps. Hopefully I can get caught up with step five by the time step six is revealed.

Design wall/floor Monday...

I started this before my trip to Ohio. It was half cut and put together. I like how it has turned out. When I started this I cut the first squares the wrong size, four inch instead of five inch. And I cut for two wall hangings. So I had to improvise and cut the twisted blocks two and a half inches. The result is a much smaller wall hanging, but I like it better and it fits the place where I want to hang it. I put the second set of squares together, but will cut and sew them later. These will be for next year's Christmas. I have got to get some cookies made for this year.
Right after the picture the Inspectors checked to be sure that all the seams would hold together.
Go to Patchwork Times
to see what others have on their Design Walls.
Here's a picture of the pattern for those who wondered.

There is Happy News here....

Today my #1 Daughter is graduating from USCA's Nursing School.
Scotty is now splint free and his broken toe has healed.
Chipper is still his sweet self and has been giving me extra snuggles.
On the quilting side I have cut my strips for step one of Easy Street and plan to sew them together on Friday.

I haved returned...

Yes, I am home for awhile. This has been a very sad Thanksgiving for my Family. My Father has gotten put in a nursing home. His diagnosis is not good. So, my Mother needed some extra care and help. I will have to return soon to help keep things going there in Ohio, but hopefully not til after Christmas. Luckily I have a Sister that lives in Ohio. I am also hoping that the weather up North doesn't get too cold this winter. Looks like I will need to do a lot of commuting back and forth for awhile.
To top off all my frustrations Picasa has informed me that I have ran out of space for more pictures. So, I cannot upload pictures to my blog right now. Also I can't find the Picasa location on this computer....Grrrrr
I am getting started on Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street Mystery today. I will also try to get my house back in shape.

Trip to Mary Jo's.....

I got my gray and some B&W, turquoise, and lime green
Scotty thinks that all we need is a little more purple and we will be ready for Bonnie's first clue.
I also got this flower panel to use for fussy cutting flowers to add to this log cabin quilt.

Yea! A quilt is done...

The Inspectors looked it over real good and I think that all the threads got buried.
The back with some added squares to make it wide enough.
I put a scallop in the small red border. Now I will be able to go with my Guild Friends on a field trip to Mary Jo's tomorrow. Soon I will be caught up on Customer quilts. Then I can do some piecing.

Getting back into the quilting groove...

I had my machine/RUBY in for general maintenance and cleaning at the end of October. I was surprised at how hard I found it to get back in good graces with RUBY. I have now gotten back into the groove by quilting this kids quilt. It was a top I made awhile ago as an experiment with a part of a jelly roll that came in a scrap bag from Moda.
I used a solid red on top.
And a variegated thread on the bottom. Whew...Now I think I am ready to quilt on Carolyn's quilt.

Sneak peak....

I am working on getting another quilt quilted for Carolyn. I had to add some to the back because it was only three inches bigger in the width. leaving only an inch and a half on each side. Now I have five inches on each side and that gives me room for my side clamps.
Scotty got a new splint today. His old one was starting to slip and was making a sore on his ankle. So the Vet gave him a new one today. He was good and didn't have to be sedated for the change.  One week down and three more to go.

Design Wall Monday....

The only things on my design wall are what I have pulled from stash to see what else I need to get for the Bonnie Hunter mystery. My friends and I are planning a trip to Mary Jo's on November 15th. So, I have been looking through things to see what I need to get some projects moving forward. To see what everyone else has on their design walls go HERE to Judy's Patchwork Times Blog
The boys have just been snuggling under any quilt that they can find, as the weather here has been cooling down.

A Few more quilts...

This was an antique Quilt that was for sale. It was so vibrant!
  Did you notice the value!
 Very patriotic.
 This quilt was really pretty.
This quilt by Sarah is a bigger version of the tumbling blocks that I took the class a the GA Quilt Show. I love her fabric choice.
I had to take Scotty in to the vet to check out a toe that He injured somehow last Monday night. Turns out that he has a broken middle toe and they put a splint on his back foot to help it heal strait.
When he is not relaxing and sleeping, he wanders around and hisses at that thing that is holding onto his foot. He is not a happy campper. The vet said it should stay on for about three weeks. I hope he starts to tolerate it soon.

2012 Aiken County Quilt Show.....

This is "Scotty's French Braid" quilt.
I was awarded a first place ribbon. Very unexpected, but I am happy to get it.
Then on top of the first I was blown away by receiving the Best of Show ribbon.
I think that Betsy Dinger's awesome quilting on this quilt was a big part of it getting the wonderful winning ribbons.
It was hard to get a picture of this one, but I won a ribbon for my Mom on her Catkin quilt
Second place ribbon in the group category.
Sally's beautiful Lighthouse won a ribbon. Thank you for letting me quilt it for you.
June's bright star quilt also received a ribbon, congratulations. Thank you for letting me quilt it for you.
I will post more quilts from the show tomorrow.
