Gelli Plate Printing Fun

Hi folks! Kim here today to share two project with you, both created with one Gelli Plate print. (All product links at the bottom of the post)

Now...let me start by sharing that I spent the majority of today creating a darling video for all of you, showcasing the new 6" round gelli plate and textured acrylic sheets. And...I spent the other half of the day trouble shooting said video, with zero success. My video is "stuck" on my phone and I have been unable to get it to upload to my computer or You Tube. (This is even with the help of my genius IT savvy brother-in-law!) Call me frustrated! So...I'm sorry that I don't have a lot of photos to share of the process, but I will let you know just as soon as I'm able to get the computer issue figured out...whether by hammer or some other means...LOL!...I'm kidding...kind of...

I started with the 6" round Gelli Plate, three Textured Acrylic Sheets, a non-stick craft sheet, a few stencils, a brayer, and some paper towels.  Here are the steps:

  1. Apply acrylic paint to gelli plate, use brayer to spread paint over entire plate.
  2. Press one of the Textured Acrylic Sheets into the wet paint, remove.
  3. Press all or a portion of your paper on to the gelli plate and smooth with your hand to create the print.
  4. Remove your paper, use another piece of paper is pick up any excess ink.
  5. You can see a great video, created by Gelli Arts, on using the new 4" and 6" round Gelli Plates here.
  6. Once I completed my 8.5x11" gelli print, shown below, I cut the paper into 2x2" and 1x1" squares.

Using the 1x1" squares, I created a card, shown at the top of today's post. I simply layered the 1" squares onto 1 1/8" black squares and then adhered them onto a piece of white, embossed cardstock. I'm giddy over how the colors pop against the stark white!

Next, I followed this video to created a book (I trimmed my book down to a 3" square...it's SO cute!) I used the Believe Script stencil, from The Crafters Workshop, and Wendy Vecchi's white embossing paste to add some design and texture to each page of my book. Here's the finished cover...
Once the paste was dry, I used foam tape to add a 2" square to each page. I stamped images from the Primitive Icons stamp set (see the bottom of the post for this week's special!!) to stamp images onto white cardstock. I cut out the images and words and added one to each book page...

I'm seriously so in love with these tiny books (my friend Godelieve was my inspiration!) that I'm going to make one for everyone I know...want one? :-)

If you've made it this far...hang on for this week's special and product links.

Thanks for the memories, Steph Ackerman

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today.  By now you know that eclectic Paperie is closing it's doors.  That also means the end of the blog and the design team.

We have had a fabulous run as members of the eclectic Paperie Design Team and wish to thank you all for your interest and support over the years. With the eP blog coming to a close at the end of the month, we all wanted to do something special to celebrate the fabulous friendships, tons of inspiration from other team members, from Kim, and from all those who participated in our challenges. Each of the current DT members is taking a day to post some of her favorite makes from her time on the eclectic Paperie team. We hope you enjoy the look back.

While I've only been on the team a short while,  I have really enjoyed working with this team and have loved the wide variety of products available in the store.

This was the very first project I created for eP and I had so much fun creating it - the stencils, the stamps and assorted Art Anthology paints were so much fun to work with.

This canvas uses a large Prima stencil, some molding paste and Art Anthology paints.

And a fun use of the same stamp to create tags for all seasons with Gelatos.

I loved creating these cards with Art Anthology paints, a Gelli Plate and The Crafter's Workshop stencils.

And I just wanted to shout out a big thank you to Kim for giving me the opportunity to work with her and this amazing design team.

Get Altered Challenge - Altered Playing Cards

Hello there, everyone!  It's Broni here today with this month's eP Get Altered Challenge.  This month I'd like for us all to play with~
Altered Playing Cards

I'm sad to say I haven't tried this before, but after this fun little adventure I'm sure I'll be going back to pull from my deck again and again!

Since it's February, the month of Valentines, I decided to make Valentine altered playing cards for all my grandchildren.   There are 8 altogether between George and myself.  Whew!  So it literally took days for this all to come together.

I'm going to try to take you through a few of the steps….the ones I can remember and that I photographed!  The first thing I did was sand all my cards using a sanding grip block.

I used my Gelli plate to apply some aqua and lime acrylic paints to the cards, then I added some purple dots.  Instead of using a brayer, I just used a paint brush.  It gave more texture to the surface of the cards.  It also took longer to dry between layers.  I did this with 4 of the cards.

I painted over them with white acrylic paint and then wiped it off with a baby wipe.  This helped the texture of the paint to show up better.  I cut a heart from a scrap of paper and used it to draw hearts onto the cards.  Then I painted them with red acrylic paint.

For the other 4 cards, I decided to try painting directly on the cards as opposed to using the Gelli plate.  I used the same colors and also painted on the purple dots.  I spread some Studio 490 white embossing paste on 2 of the cards and let it dry to add some texture.

Then I put on some more embossing paste using my Mini Hexagons stencil and my palette knife.  After it dried, I sprayed on several different bright Dylusions ink sprays.  When they dried I sprayed just a little of the White Linen ink spray.

I sprayed the first 4 altered playing cards with White Linen ink spray as well.

Here are all the cards.  (You can see I experimented a little with the bottom right one.)

I used both pieces of my cut-out heart (the positive and the negative) as masks to stamp either onto the hearts or around the hearts.

I did some more stamping on the cards using the Catherine Scanlon Random Shapes images and Archival jet black ink.  This second photo is taken from a different angle so that you can see the texture even under the Glossy Accents that I added to all the hearts.

And here are some closeups:

Ok then!  That's my take on Altered Playing Cards.  I hope you'll decide to play along with us for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the eclectic Paperie store!  Be sure to link up below so we can all check out what you come up with!

Thanks for visiting!
