Bingo Matchbox

Hi eclectic Paperie friends -  Julia here, sharing my Tim Holtz/Alterations Matchbox die projects!
I LOVE little boxes - so when I saw this die - I just had to have it - it's the same size as a little box of matches. 2 5/8" x 1 3/4" by 1/2".

I used papers from the wonderful Tim Holtz Idea-ology 8" x 8" Paper Stash Collage.  I started out making just this one with the Bingo design sheet.  I added a sprocket, a mini gear and arrow to the top corner.  I took an Art Parts Door Plate, inked it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, covered it with Glue N Seal and then poured Tarnished Brass Distress Glitter over it.  When it had dried, I sponged over it again with Vintage Photo ink and adhered it to the box.  I added a Faucet knob to the end that I inked with Orange Blossom and Dandelion Archival Inks.
I added another piece of the Bingo paper to the inside of the box which makes it a little sturdier and also covers the folded pieces from making the box.  I also cut another piece for the top showing the full Bingo card since it was hard to place the paper on the die to get a perfect design lined up on top!!
I added a Chit Chat Sticker that I cut the edge of and sponged with Vintage Photo and added a cute Lucky Road Sign from Junkyard Findings/Street Signs by Prima on the end of the box.
Since the faucet knob was taller than the box -  I added a button  on the bottom of the box that I die cut out of thin cork using the Tim Holtz Alterations Sewing Room die to balance the front and back.  I sponged it with Vintage Photo Ink.
This worked up so quickly -  I was inspired to create two more boxes using a sewing theme paper and a postage stamp theme paper from the same paper pad.  Here's the sewing theme box.  It's the perfect size to hold some needles and threads for emergencies!
I added a Tim Holtz Buckle with Linen Ribbon looped through it and a Tim Holtz Curio Knob.  I lined the inside with a panel of the same paper.
I die cut the Thimble from the Sewing Room die to balance the bottom of this box, inked the ends with Vintage Photo and drew the 'thread' with my Iced Spruce Ranger Distress marker
Here you can see how the piece underneath balances the box with the added knob on front.
And here is my postage stamp theme box.  The perfect place to keep some stamps in your desk.  I added a Tim Holtz Curio Knob, an Adornment arrow, a Tim Holtz Vial Label with Chit Chat Stickers that I sponged with Vintage Photo.  Now that I'm looking at this bright red label - I think I should tone it down with some Distress ink!
I again, lined my box with an extra piece of paper so it looked clean and neat inside!
Here you can see the Tim Holtz Corner I added to this box.  It keeps the box from being pushed all the way through - although the knob would preclude that as well!!
To balance the bottom of  this box, I used a flag ceramic button I had in my stash.
So there we have it -  3 cute little Match Boxes for 3 different uses.  These were SO fun to make!  Anything you see here that isn't in the eclectic Paperie shop can probably be ordered for you - just ask Kim, the owner!

Art Parts Stencil Book

Hi everyone!  Julia here with my first post as the newbie DT member for eclectic Paperie!  Today I have an Art Parts Stencil Book I made to hold all of my brandy new Wendy Vecchi Stencils!    I recently attended Wendy's Mixed Media Tag Art Journal workshop held at the brick and mortar eclectic Paperie in Exeter, NH. She showed us one of these books that she had made and I thought it was a great way to keep all of my stencils in one place and easily accessible. I have lots of pictures to show how I made my version of the Stencil Book so grab a cuppa and settle back in your chair!
Here's my front cover
 And  my back cover
First I spread Black Embossing Paste over the covers, not quite covering it all.  After it dried, I spread Crackled Texture Paste over the black areas and let that dry.
Next, I sponged over both covers with Peacock Feathers and Mustard Seed Distress Inks
I stenciled the Checkmake stencil with Archival Watering Can Ink on both covers.
Then I focused on the front cover - I sponged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink to tone down the colors - then I stenciled  the Bar Codes Stencil with Black Embossing Paste
I die cut the Tim Holtz mini Flourish out of Clearly for Art Blackout Modeling film.  I spread Metalic Gold and Metalic Silver Embossing paste over it with my finger to give it the look of wrought iron, let it dry and adhered it to the front cover.
I inked an Ideology Key Hole and Ideology Border with Archival Cornflower and Orange Blossom.  I added an Ideology die cut key, a label made with my P-Touch Label maker and drew a square frame with a black Stabilo Pencil
I stamped around the edges with the plaid square of Wendy Vecchi's Large Collage stamp (I cut it into small squares so I could use each one separately).
I kept the inside covers clean and simple so nothing would catch on the stencils.  I stamped Ornate Dots (I absolutely LOVE this stamp!) on the inside front cover with Archival Watering Can ink and sponged with Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers and Walnut Stain Distress inks.
For the inside of the back cover - I stamped Wendy Vecchi's From A-Z background stamp and sponged with the same Distress inks as the inside of the front cover (above)
To finish the back cover - I stenciled using Bar Codes, Create a Wreath and Dots and Stripes using Archival Black ink.  I left this cover with the brighter colors and didn't sponge it with Walnut Stain Distress Ink
I added a die cut bird (Tim Holtz Alterations Mini Bird and Cage die), cut out of Clearly for Art Blackout Modeling film and made a label with my name with my P-Touch Label Maker. (so no one could say 'Hey - who's book is this??!)
And here's a look at the stencils stored inside!
I hope I have inspired you with my little stencil book -  isn't it nice to keep our supplies in artsy little books rather than just in their store packaging?!!  Thanks so much for stopping by the eclectic Paperie blog today!

November Gratitude

Hello, all you eP fans!  It's Broni here and I'm your hostess for today.

I've recently joined the Make ART - Wendy Vecchi fan page on Facebook, of which our very own Kim is the group leader and administrator.

I was excited to see that there are monthly challenges, and for the month of November 2013 the theme is "Be Thankful".  So that's where I started for my project today.

To begin, I pulled out some supplies to see what I wanted to play with.  I definitely knew I'd use some Multi-Media paper and a small branch from Arts Parts Leaves.  I also wanted to try out one of my new Chalkboard Flags.

I pressed some Distress Iced Spruce and Peacock Feathers ink onto my craft sheet and misted it with water.  Then I pressed a couple of pieces of the Multi-Media paper into the inks several times, drying between times so as not to muddy the colors.  I noticed the piece on the left also picked up a little lime color that had been on my craft sheet.  I love when that happens!  I decided to use that piece and save the other one for another time, perhaps for a snowy Christmas card.

I sponged around the edges with the same colors then used my Studio 490 Wildflowers & Bird stencil and the Iced Spruce ink to add a flower.  I also inked up the background stamp from Wendy's Forever Art stamp set and stamped that as well.

I thought the colors were a little bold for how I wanted my card to look, so I lightly misted on some Dylusions White Linen ink spray and then added some Perfect Pearls mist for a little shimmer.

Then I laid all my pieces together in a couple of different formats to determine how I wanted the final product to look.  You can see that I added a Lime enamel dot to pick up the lime color from the inked panel.

I also added a small strip of black chevron washi tape.  Then I called it DONE!

I really love how it turned out!  And I hope you like it too!

Thanks so much for stopping in today!

Happy crafting!

A Ladies' Diary Shadowbox

Bonnie here, wishing you a wonderful Friday. I love, love, love creating with Graphic 45 paper collections. They are so beautiful and  offer many opportunities to fussy cut and layer images. That's why I was so excited to have my 8x8 paper pad, A Ladies' Diary Collection, arrive in the mail. I had this fun little 7 Gypsies Shadowbox calling out for some vintage goodness. The box is roughly 6.5 x 6.5"  and I purchased mine in the black colour.

I rarely have a full fledged idea of what I'm going to do when I begin a project. I do, however, usually have a couple of images or items that I want to include and I build from there. In this case, it was the lovely fussy cut woman from the Fashion Plates page and the Wendy Vecchi art parts pocket watch. Knowing that the pocket watch would contain an image and likely flowers,  I choose a neutral background which I found in the Moment in Time page with all of the diary entries. It was cut to fit the large rectangle, inked around the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink and adhered to the box using Scor tape. The Lasting Impressions page with all of the borders was cut into separate strips. The women's hats border and the lace were added to the bottom of the large rectangle. The clocks and roses border became the top treatment, the Standard Fashions strip became part of the bottom right square, and the Style is... sentiment was attached to the wood separating the top and bottom cubbies. It was given a hand charm to draw attention to the sentiment. That's a lot of mileage out of one 8x8 sheet. Love it!

The watch art parts were sprayed with Silver Foil Smooch Spritz and then scuffed with Black Soot Distress ink. The illustration was cut slightly bigger than the face opening, sandwiched between the two layers, and then filled with Glossy Accents. Once dry, a key charm, mulberry flowers, and a silver heart button were adhered to the watch. One of the small journalling spots from that same border page was cut out, distressed, and inked with Vintage Photo DI before the sentiment, "live inspired" from Donna Downey's Empowered Words collection was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. It was adhered behind the watch and then the art part was adhered to the background. A silver ball chain (stolen from my husband's workshop...don't tell) was glued with Glossy Accents. To fill in the space below the watch and repeat the  embellie on her hat, a black feather was glued under the pocket watch. The fussy cut lady was given a silver purse.

The bottom three cubbies were created with scraps from pages already used. With the paper being double sided, there are many beautiful coordinating patterns. The left cubby has one of the stamps fussy cut from the paper and an Idea-ology pen nib  was Glossy accented over faux stitched striped paper. The middle section has two layers of paper separated by black cardstock. A woman's head was fussy cut and popped up on foam dots. A black parasol charm was added to her background.

The right cubby was given a punched background layered with a border piece. The image of the lady in the wicker chair was fussy cut, matted in black, and adhered with foam dots. The 1912 date came from the same paper.

I love this little project and the best part is I still have most of the paper pad intact. There are so many images on each page and the backs are equally lovely so these pads last a good long time. That makes me happy because Ihave many more projects percolating in my little head :) Thanks for visiting today. We always appreciate that and your lovely comments. Hope you find time to play  this weekend or maybe even today.
