JUNGLE HEAT aka LAST BREATH - trailer for rare Thai edit
LAST BREATH (Lee Ho/Jobic Wong, Taiwan, 1985) aka JUNGLE HEAT
There are four different edits of LAST BREATH:
1. The original Taiwan version (also released in HK - released on HK VHS and US Chinatown VHS)
2. The international version entitled JUNGLE HEAT (alternative footage - released on various uncut VHS tapes, the best one being the Japanese VHS: uncut + letterboxed. The German and UK dvd's are cut!!!)
3. A censored version for Mainland China (cut for violence but includes some alternative footage - released on VCD)
4. A version made for Thailand - which has extra footage with Thai actor Sorapong Chatree (I'm going by the trailer and the Thai film poster here as the film itself hasn't been released to home video afaik).
I'm told a 16mm copy of the Thai version is stored in the Thai film archive. Hopefully, somebody will release it to blu-ray or streaming at some point.

4th different edit of JUNGLE HEAT existing in Thailand???
LAST BREATH AKA JUNGLE HEAT (TAIWAN)
I'm already aware of thee different edits of the gory and trashy Taiwan war movie LAST BREATH aka Jungle Heat.
1) The original version (under the Last Breath title) is released on VHS in Taiwan and Hong Kong, and there's a tape released to the Chinatowns in the USA.
2) The international version, entitled Jungle Heat (a different EDIT with alternative footage shot for this version, i.e. n-o-t a cut & paste version!) is released on VHS and around the world and on DVD in the UK and Germany (and sadly both are cut!).
3) And finally we have the VCD from Mainland China which is basically a different edit of the Taiwan version (including using the Last Breath title) but missing 20 minutes of footage but also has new footage exclusive to this version. I own all three versions.
And then... someone in Thailand tells me there's also a Thai edit!!!!!!!!!!
He has never seen the film but he owns a poster (see above scan) and you can clearly see a famous Thai actor on it (I forget his name). The Thai collector claims that the actor is so respected in Thailand that they wouldn't have dared to put him on the poster if he weren't in the film and, although that's not proof of this versions existing it probably good indication that it probably does.
I'm hoping this version has at least made it to video-cd in Thailand. Unfortunately, Thai VCD's have a tendency to fly by by night never to return again. An American who lives over there told me there's so many VCD's being released all the time that it's pretty difficult to find a certain title once it's sold out. But I've been collecting long enough to know everything turns up if you wait long enough. Unfortunately, that often means many months and years of waiting, looking, asking, and asking again. In this case I don't even know if this version even exists. >_<

Uhh, baby, come to daddy
I woke up with a blasted headache. Popped a headache table. Waited an hour. Felt fine. Got out of bed. Though I might as well log on and get it over with... i.e. look at the auction I MOST LIKELY did not win during the night. Logged on... and there is was... the ebay auto message, "You won this item, now pay up, fucker".
Gott im himmel!!! I can't believe I'm finally going to get the original Hong Kong release of the very multo mucho rare'o Taiwan film LAST BREATH. It's insane. I hardly place any money on this (in collector circles that is. Ordinary people would certainly think £45 ($71) on an auction for an old video tape is more than enough). The final bid came to £31 ($49).
The tape I won is the HK VHS in Cantonese with English subs. There's one other release, the Chinatown tape from the US. The film has never been released in any other format.
There exist two different cuts of the film, one made for the Chinese markets and an English dubbed version for the international markets. I should point out the English dubbed print is an alternative version they made at the same time that has different scenes with Gwilo actors in it - BUT it's not a cut & paste film! Both versions were official versions made by the film studio simply to cater to different markets. The international version is fairly easy to come by as it's been released on DVD (unfortunately the DVDs are cut, including the German one. And beware, I've seen bootleg sellers advertising copies off the German DVD as being "uncut". Well, it's not uncut!). The video releases are uncut and the best one is the Japanese tape with is fully letterboxed.
